Q: What's the difference between a politician and a thief?
A: One of them flees the police, the other is protected by them.
atleast a thief wants you to be doing well.
There isn't a difference. 💯
lame!!!!! 🤣
A thief is honest about stealing from you where a politician isn't
The politician will kiss your baby while reaching in to your packet?
A $250 licensing fee is now all of a sudden $20,000 yep that's a scam 100%
Any fee for an arbitrary license is a scam.
Ummm… sounds to me like someone should’ve paid their $250. Why am I supposed to feel bad for them? Only people I will feel bad for is those that rented the business and we’re caught in a bad loophole because the owners hadn’t paid all the property taxes.
@@joshuabishopkevna9139 Being fined isn't the scam, it's the amount.
@@WakenNatea business license is hardly arbitrary. And the 250 dollars is cheap compared to most towns let alone a larger city. The only ones I saw with a valid point is the renters whose landlord owed the tax money, they shouldn't be deprived because of the landlords issue.
Only for the people who haven't paid property tax.
It's not ""The city of Harvey."
It's actually people you refuse to name that are hiding behind the city name.
100 bucks its democrats 😳
@@frankorobinson1540 Has nothing to do with Red/Blue. It has to do with mismanagement and incompetence, Frank.
And 100% guarantee that mismanagement and that incompetence is on Democratic leaders Republicans do it the right way they're not crooks
No bet!@@frankorobinson1540
@@frankorobinson1540 partisan politics is for suckers
Harvey is corrupt as hell poor and rob you .
how corrupt is she . not paying her taxes.
Sounds like normal Illinois politics to me.
who dont pay property taxes?
Sounds to me like someone should’ve paid their extremely small $250 fee.
@@diegojines-us9pc I'd guess because they are so high that its hard for an honest business to pay them. Recall that this is Illinois.
The next DOLTON?
Another crap town!
Worse....
Love how the idiot mayor is trying to justify this extortion. I hope all these business owners move or at least recall the entire city council.
i cant pay my taxes. be glad they havent sold it at auction.
@@diegojines-us9pcdid you see the video? they are not taxes, they are business license fees. If they were taxes, and you pay it, it should count towards your city and state tax, which this fee do not. I live in NY and we dont have 20k business license fee.
@@PatricioGarcia1973 did you watch it? did you read this part? Lawsuit filed over concrete blocks obstructing Harvey businesses behind on property taxes. they didn't pay their taxes on time. so they lost their business licences. and now they have to pay the late fee. tell me who dont charge you extra for reinstatement. if you dont pay the electric, they charge you extra after you pay the bill, for disconnect and reconnet and possible extra down payments to make sure you do pay.
@@diegojines-us9pcJust saying you're a boot licker would be a lot shorter.
Best part is that he gets asked how those businesses are supposed to keep up only to avoid the question and change the subject
This is extortion and disgusting
You dont do this because you want him to pay Property Taxes, you do this to MAKE SURE he CANT pay his Taxes!
This part.
Exactly.
Since nothing can move from these properties, it could also constitute an illegal seizure.
When they are done chasing all the businesses off, they’ll set their sights on the residents.
New ghost town, coming right up…
Exactly! Somebody is waiting in the wings.
What they’re actually doing is Shock and all, making sure that people are going to be shocked by the sticker price so then on they’re going to pay the very small $250 fee and stop being delinquent on such a small amount.
Can't pay and the city can foreclose and sell the property for a profit.
248 years ago, there was a guy named George who got his @$$ kicked over crap like this.
By another guy also named George. And a few friends....
Haha I like how you made me have to think
Yep, had to stop and think that one through 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
and 248 years every american has paif their taxes. or lost their stuff. ask your parents how much is the taxes in your house.
The same George who marched more armed troops against American farmers who refused to pay his whisky tax than he did against the British.
Lmao who the fuck would ever want to open a business in Harvey again? Smh
Could of just called me I could have deconstructed it and sold it back as asphalt or something of that nature to another states frac crew 😂
Hell I just got the Bahia emerald back $$$$😂
That’s the point, he clearly is attempting to do exactly that, run these businesses out of the town. And I’ll bet there is no real plan to attract more businesses or more successful businesses once he’s accomplished this!
It sure as hell would not be a democrat.
if that was her home. they would have it a auction. so stop crying.
The city of Harvey is clearly trying to “bleed a stone dry.”
I'll remove for a price
*That lady should take welding classes at the local community college and check marketplace for a dozer*
Maybe have they paid her $250 fee they wouldn’t have had this big issue thrown at them.
Criminal activity by the government all those officials that are doing this extortion should be going to prison
They are Democrats figure the odds on them jailing their own.
Harvey is a ghost town already.
Hmm - sounds a lot like a Dolton in the making. Citizens of Harvey, y'all better get this under control before it goes any further.
They won't they'll just keep voting in those Dems that don't give a damn about them
Like voting maybe.
Pay your taxes, pay your bills, pay your fines. Cook county needs money for the corrupt politicians, Grift doesn't pay like it used to.
I'd like to know how a business' delinquent taxes get shifted to taxpayers. How on earth would one persons property tax be shifted to someone else? If what they say is true home owners need to file a class action lawsuit against the city for misappropriating their money.
Unfortunately, it is true. Cook County determines how much each village needs to pay to cover expenses for schools, police, fire, parks, etc. The property assessments are recalculated every few years. If there is a high delinquency rate among businesses in that village for the previous period, then the residential taxes are raised in the next assessment to cover for expected delinquencies. (The same calculation is performed for businesses that get tax breaks.) Dolton and Harvey residential tax rates exceed 25% annually, which is disproportionately high for the county.
Yeah, this does actually make sense. The tax rates get bumped up to cover the uncollected debt. That way the county and towns have enough money to pay their bills.
Call The Institute for Justice.
Yep. That makes sense. Close a business so they can’t make money to pay the fines they need to pay to keep their businesses operating.
Sounds like a scheme to gobble up property for ‘redevelopment’.
I knew a guy that got arrested at work for being "behind" on his child support. (he wasn't, it was a glitch/oversight) Work fired him. Then he had no money.
@@billyjoejimbob75 I hope he sued.
You expect me to feel bad for a business who refuses to pay $250 business license?
@LoyaltyIsEarned But he Was Not a deadbeat. It was a glitch. So once again for your impaired hearing, I HOPE HE SUES!
20k fine to get a business license? That doesn't sound right at all and you have months and months to pay your property taxes so blocking the businesses so they can't make the money to pay is stupid. The mayor likely has some Chinese waiting to buy these businesses cheap.
Or Saudi Arabian both those countries are buying American land cheap and screwing over the townfolk. And BlackRock too.
Problem is if renting space, they are being fined for something they have no control over
It's stuff like this that makes people shop for used Komatsus.
What's the common denominator of all of these corrupt towns in Illinois?
@mvpfocus even someone like you should be able to figure that out. Unless, of course, you're a Democrat voter. Think real hard...
Like Randy Marsh on Wheel of Fortune, “I know it, but I don’t think I should say it…”

People are finally done with the gov't extortion of excessive taxes and their overspending.
LMAO. Sorry, $250 is nothing. So if you don’t pay $250 then a bigger fine is coming. Sounds perfectly logical to me b
Tiffany henyard is going to get very upset. This is her job. This is how she does things. You just stepping on her toes and being a copycat
She's franchising her brand. For a small franchise fee of $250k annually, Tiff will show you how to be Mayor.
@@DengShabua SUPER mayor.
Has Harvey ever thought about cutting spending?
Illinois is a joke. Throw everyone in government in this stupid state in jail
Who's trying to buy up the whole city? "Extortion" requires businesses to remain open so that they can pay again. I'll ask one more time: Who is trying to buy every foreclosed business in the city?
Federal taxes... State taxes... County taxes... City taxes... Mandatory Insurance... Rent... What money?
Any action taken on county property taxes belongs to the county, not the city. The city is WAAAAAAAY the hell out of its jurisdiction on this. I see this getting VERY expensive for the city.
They should be working with these people to help them stay open! This is why Harvey is a crap town! Everyone knows it. Who wants to live there?
Yeah sounds big time illegal. City will go bankrupt from this lawsuit
And they deserve it for there crimes against citizens if a illegal had that business the city would wave the fees 😂😂😂
The city is already bankrupt. Democrats have already cleaned out the cities funds
How u go from $250 to 20k?
that is steep
And remember, none of that money goes towards your taxes..lmao. typical democrats
The secret ingredient is crime (and government corruption)
They're using common core math. 🤣
I wondered if any of the shut down businesses were renters who were current. Shutting them down when they've not done anything wrong is going to be expensive for the town. Plus, blocking customer cars in a auto repair shop? That's a "Taking" and a constitutional issue. Also expensive.
Very much so. Get together and file a federal action. Don't try to "lone wolf" it. The constitution is still in effect here.
This is why people are leaving Illinois in droves
Any time I hear the phrase “fair share” I know someone’s trying to make someone who’s already paying too much pay more.
Pay 3rd party to move the blocks and leave blocks at the driveway of the person responsible for them. You are just being a good citizen and returning "misplaced property".
Or turn it into an advertising opportunity. (Pay a handyman some money to build steps up and over the blocks) Make a sign that reads "COME SEE THE BORDERLINE ILLEGAL DEALS THAT CITY OFFICIALS DON'T WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT!"
yes move those blocks to let people in.
Time for a heavy equipment company to step up and move these blocks back to properties of the entity that owns them: the city. Start off blocking the doors and parking of city hall.
So blocking a door leaving the building is not a fire code violation.
It is
this is extortion like paying the mob for protection, i definitely see this a lawsuit 😊
For $20K it would be cheaper to relocate your business to the next county.
After seeing the Mayor.. it's all beginning to make sense.. you get what you vote for..
Rent a jackhammer or truck and remove the blocks till they arrest you. Stand on the principal cause all taxation is theft and that is clear-cut extortion. Especially if you punish the business owner and not the landlord. When its the landlord who is behind. All your gonna do otherwise is drive businesses away!
Extortion
After seeing the mayor I completely understand why this is happening.
Without a doubt
Sounds like they want bulldozers plowing through their city.
Ask the government officials to sign off on a maps accuracy depicting all structures with basements on it … IYKYK …. Doubt they would get the subtleties of a statement like that though…
I would be surprised but I saw Your Governor.
We all know you gotta pay yourtaxes just like the rest of us. But i dont like the way this was handled.
EXACTLY. Im in Ottawa county Michigan. I cant imagine our Ottawa county getting their Yes lawful Property taxes this way.
@@alphaomega5909 The twenty thousand dollars is just a fine for late payment on taxes
If you are renting, then sue the landlord for loss income.
Which if he does not have money to pay his taxes, he won't have money to pay the judgements. Sounds great, but not realistic.
@@bobmazzi7435 It's not really to get money, but to put pressure on others that could apply the needed pressure to get this jackassary resolved in a timely manner.
The renters need to file an injunction in court to get a judge to rule that the city has no grounds since they are not the responsible party. The mayor seems the type that will want to challenge the judge and possible defy orders. Then they need to sue the city and the mayor for damages.
Nothing quite like trying to deprive somebody of their property without a court order.
Get the Mayor out of office ..or jail .
Sue the city because they have nothing to do with property taxes the county does. The mayor is a con artist.
Sue the county
It’s called crook county for a reason
Your building your property to heck with them
Sounds like the person that wants.
The tax money is being greedy.
There is no way a business owes that much in taxes.
That is highway robbery.
Need to look in him
Property taxes = high rents
When did Heynard move to Harvey?
Either Harvey has jacked up the price of the license by almost 100x or allowed a $250 fine to go uncollected for so long it’s racked up into the millions……
Except it's cook county tax, it is the Harvey politicians acting alone in matters they have zero power in.
Tiffany needs more jail time in her life.
if its not drama news wont air it but if its drama they will air it. i hate the news 🤣🤣
Looks like a scam, sounds like a scam “must be a scam”
So you deny the ability to conduct business, generate revenue in an effort to pay a bill which requires an open business to generate revenue. Make perfect sense.
How about working with the business to workout a payment program that is reasonable, keep the business vs an empty location. Illinois has multitude of programs designed to help Minority owned startups and Harvey, Cook County seem to be targeting these same businesses.
Black logic
Business didn’t pay property taxes for years
Illinois, the land of the hand out.
capone is proud... move along.
Licenses to work so you can buy food to feed your family are unconstitutional
Institute for justice please help these poor people.
That is a money grab.
Harvey is hell thank God i made it out
Im going to go further since you saw favor in what i said . harvey is an experiment like e st louis. also within 5 years theyll unite havey dixmoor anddolton so they can take over those rails which are the most valuable nationwide, see cshokia heights
Harvey to Dolton: Hold my beer.
While I answer the door and let Riverdale in
This is NOT the proper way to handle delinquent property taxes.
The Tyranny of the Bureaucracy! Worse than dictator or despot.
Obviously, the city needs federal oversight ASAP. Something is very wrong here.
Zero Tolerance for these Criminals and their Crimes. How Pathetically Criminal.
Nothing a jack hammer cant fix
It’s nice seeing news from different parts of the country and sometimes other countries
Someone could make bank relocating those barricades to city hall.
Whatever call that is, extortion from the city.
This makes me mad. This city is giving me a bad name.
Maybe I should go I claim retribution For deformation of character😂😂😂😂
If someone is delinquent on property taxes, then the city needs to take the offender to court demanding payment or the right to seize the property to auction off, not using illegal extortion like its a 3rd world country ruled by a dictator...... damn, we're in a 3rd world country ruled by a dictator.
Listen to the story again, it's a county tax not city. The city has no business in this but they inserted themselves for a 200k payout for each business
Only difference between a mafia protection racket and a tax racket is one wears a badge.
*The Ds are up to no good again*
The most dangerous words in government other than we're here to help is pay your fair share
Sounds like Dalton and Harvey are at the competing "hold my beer" stage
I knew this would happen with Tony Soprano was elected Mayor.
HUNDREDS of businesses are suddenly behind on property taxes? 🤔
Who would have thought that there would be government overreach in this story ? Eff the gubment .
Thats what chicago is turning into with these GER poiticians
The "burden" does NOT get "shifted" to home owners, the taxes owed will go into collections...
This IS extortion...
"A lawsuit says..." Oh, really?
Well the tax law says they are delinquent and the county gave them ample time.
Small businesses asked to cough up 20 grand? It’s a death sentence for them and any future income to the state.
Are the politicians from Russia in Harvey ❓
someone with a a criminal mindset working in the city office.
Just because you're a public servant doesn't mean you are a good person.
If the business can’t operate, they can’t pay the fine, fees, or taxes.
why do they think they dont have to pay property tax?????
Taxes will be the least of the city's issue when this case goes to court!
Cruel and unusual punishment comes to mind
The concrete blocks placed by the city violate fire codes, zoning/planning rules on access and egress, and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
I keep saying America sucks 😕
Can we do this if the government owes us?
A fine is not the same thing as a tax, they are claiming this is for the businesses to renew their operating license but then it’s claimed it’s for delinquent taxes.
Which is it, operating license or delinquent taxes? The city can’t even get their story straight 😂
