Lowell was such a phenomenal guitarist. Saw Feat at the Shrine Auditorium in LA in 1978 from the eighth row. Those were the days before Ticketmaster. Staying in line for tickets. A long line of Feat freaks. Those were the best days.
It's taken me a while to come around, but I think I finally get it with these guys. What a unique sound. Also this song is a tribute to Dr.John, unless I'm mistaken. Anybody who pays tribute to him is alright in my book!
Can someone tell me about Martin Kibbee? I looked up where he co-wrote Dixie Chicken and Rock and Roll Doctor. These are two of LF's best songs, but it hit me that he hasn't been heard from or little is known about his life and association with LF and Lowell George. I'd love to know. I'm a Feat Lifer, no matter how much the music changes, I still come back to Little Feat for great funk.
Interesting question. I have not met Mr. Kibbee, but a quick Google search suggests he was a childhood friend of Lowell. He played in Lowell’s band the Factory, and he may also have played in Fraternity of Man. There appears to be a Martin Kibbee interview in issue #12 of FeatPrints (Summer 1996) ripbang.com/FeatPrints/
@@redmiller1 Thanks I'll follow up on those leads and see what's up with him. Seems odd that he co-wrote some great songs and really hasn't been recognized. I've always thought R&R Doctor was one of the greatest songs ever written.
@1blastman. You may - by now - already know this. Lowell George was a big Beatles fan. So when he named his band, he used “Feat” to mimic the “Beat” in Beatles. Also, Martin Kibbee used the pseudonym “Fred Martin” when songwriting. So when he and Lowell wrote together, the credit would read “George/Martin” in tribute to The Beatles long time producer George Martin (RIP). Stay safe and well.
@@markmiwurdz2248 Thanks! I did find out some things like that I heard about the Beat\Feat connection. Also there was a band joke that Lowell had "Tiny Feet".
@1blastman. Regarding Lowell’s “tiny feet”, here’s the story I heard. Little Feat - while on tour here in the U.K. back in the mid - 1970’s (maybe 1976?) gave some radio interviews. Lowell himself told this story of how the band name came about. He said that when he was with The Mothers Of Invention their drummer Jimmy Carl Black remarked on Lowell’s small shoe size. Jimmy said (something like) “Look at him. Little f*ckin’ feet!” And apparently that’s where Lowell got the name of the band. A bit off topic. I hope you have heard all of the “Electrif Lycanthrope” record from 1974. Lowell and the boys at their best! Stay safe and well.
Yep, my all time favorite band. I lived in D.C.during this time period (including the "Lisnrr Auditorium shows in W 4 C.) So saw them 2 or 3 times a year, there or at Warner Theater
@@redmiller1 oh yeah. Lots great music, both touring, and local. Danny Gatton & The Nighthawks were local. So after Feat we'd head over to Georgetown to catch yhem
Lowell George is the rock n roll doctor
💯
Fuck this is good.
Exquisite? Sublime? Whatever fancy word you want to use it’s badass

Very cool....I can picture that experience !
Seeing Sam do his baritone on film was fantastically Feat.😎🎸🎸
Could a dude possibly EVER look more cool than Lowell George during this performance? It’s impossible.
He was the king. My absolute favorite musician.
Keith Richards on any given moment prior to 1980 but yes this Lowell George had some charisma indeed.
Two degrees in be-bop, a PhD in swing,
He's the master of rhythm he's a rock and roll king.
The perfect description of Lowell.
Wow Jack, thanks for that, I get to that point and scat! lol Man, I miss that guy.
Amen brother.
....2023 and we've lost so many members of the FEAT.........may they all R.I.P.......
Funkolicious indeed! I can't stop my leg groovin'
Raise your Sears Roebuck 11/16th sockets in honor 🤘
One of a kind
Words fail me. Exquisite?
Legendary
AWESOME
This music is the best medicine in the World ! Book your appointment with the rock n roll doctor !
It takes a man of some style like getting oil off a vine! ❤
It takes a man with a style I cannot often find
All I can say is wow ….. pure genius that will never ever be repeated
Damn, that's good.
Awesome band!! I miss them and Lowell !! Thanks for the post !!
Oh man , I remember this on WLIR Radio . Great Memories.
There are very very few songs ever written that come so close to perfection as does this song.
So sad about L.G.
Wow, Lowell's really singing great here! Instrumental work not too shabby, either.
No tricks. Just genius.

@@mattpeckham667 Dr John is a good guess. What about Allen Toussaint?
@@redmiller1 I could see that too. Either one !
You've been lost, mate! 😎
Lowell, I love ya, and I'm eating a whole pizza in your honor...
They did this live in Holland. Incredible version !!! Check it out.

Fairly funky...
Sound quality on this is excellent. There's a real spatial quality...at least as I sit at my desk with stereo speakers and subwoofer.
Thanks! I typically do a little remastering for the channel videos.
@@redmiller1 Sounds great. Lowell's voice is underrated just like the whole band was.
