\Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at a stunning pair of songs in this double react with Michel Berger and Lââm going at it with "Chanter pour ceux qui sont loin de chez eux." Both versions are vastly different, different genres. But both have their charm, see my full reaction now!

I hear his songs with a lot of sadness. Such humanity. He died in 1992. He was just 45 years when he died. More tragedy followed as his daughter Pauline died of cystic fibrosis in 1997. She was aged only 19 and was buried close to her father.

Lââm is known for her incredible collection of hats! lol. There is also a version by France Gall !
Michel Berger and Balavoine are the two very best and regretted composers of the 80's!
I like both versions too: the classic one, and an original one!
Yes, it is " I have a dream" by Martin Luther King. This speach corresponds almost to the values of the french Republic: Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, Laïcité, even if we sometimes tend to forget these values !

I actually heard Lââm' s version before Michel Berger, as i was born in 1984... I was 14 yo when Lââm released that song, when Michel Berger did, i was 1 lol... 1998 was of great diversity: Larusso with Tu m' oublieras, Lââm, Johnny Hallyday, Manau (La Tribu de Dana), the world cup (Hermes house band , I will survive) and so much more.. Lââm comes from foster care, this song means a lot to her..

@@reynaldparisel3852 Bonsoir..

Hello Dereck! It’s fantastic that you’re introducing the French songs!
Michel Berger was a amazing artist... He wrote wonderful songs. Among his songs upon which you have not yet reacted, I can recommend you "Message personnel" that he wrote thinking of his first great love Véronique Sanson who is also a very great artist. He then gave this song to Françoise Hardy, another excepcional artist. The song begins with a spoken introduction, written by Françoise Hardy, at the request of Michel Berger who wanted the singer to participate personally in this song.
Keep on sharing with us your wonderful comments!

    This one goes all night
    Watching the stars
Thinking that at the end of the world
Is there someone who thinks of him
And this little girl who plays
Who never wants to smile again
And who sees his father everywhere
    Who built himself an empire
    Wherever they go
They are sad at the party
    Wherever they go
They are alone in their heads
I want to sing for those
    Who are far from home
And who have in their eyes
    Something that hurts
    Who hurts
I want to sing for those
That we forget little by little
And who keep at the bottom of them
    Something that hurts
    Who hurts
    Who stole their story
    Who stole their memory
    Who trampled their lives
    Like walking on a mirror
    This one's gonna want bombs.
This one will count the days
    Aligning sticks
Like the bars of a prison
    Wherever they go
They are sad at the party
    Wherever they go
They are alone in their heads
I want to sing for those
    Who are far from home
And who have in their eyes
    Something that hurts
    Who hurts

Really liked the comparison in the same video :D
I don't think Laâm's voice is distorted but she always overlaps her voice twice. I find it irritating personally when it's done all the time, it will hide a weaker voice.
Her version is really memorable but at the same time it aged pretty poorly imo. It's 100% "dans son jus de l'époque" as we say. The "I have a dream" bit when she starts speaking English is a tad cringe.
Michel Berger's original version was pretty stellar.

If I told you. I know THE best live performance, by anyone, EVER. HASTA QUE TE CONOCI, Live.
Juan Gabriel...im not crazy. U will agree. If u don't u can kick me! You'll wonder WHERE HAVE I BEEN! HOW CAN I NEVER OF HEARD THIS!.Its Spanish. Please believe u don't need to know. U can feel. Song title translates to. Until I Met You. As in I was happy..till I met you. This song is a journey. Juan is a legend. He has passed.

As usual, I prefer the original version, sober and restrained sung by a very sincere artist. I don’t understand this trend to cover old songs adding unnecessary stuff… :) (except for “Mon amie la rose”)

Beautiful song by Berger. You should check Rocca "Tous les jeunes de l'Univers" that uses the famous music sample of this song. French & Spanish 90's hip-hop. Different style but top quality!

You don't have the charts for the Michel Berger version, probably because his song was a flop at the time, and that's unfortunate. This song became known thanks to the cover of Lââm in the 90s. And many people rediscovered Michel Berger's version in the 90s. It almost went completely unnoticed whereas it is one of the most beautiful songs by Michel Berger, and I think that few people will contradict me on this ...

    😍😍😍

      @thaleis 2 года назад
