In this lecture we are going to discuss sociological theory of crime that is strain theory by Robert king meron.
⭐Strain theory by Merton suggests that individuals experience strain when they are unable to achieve socially accepted goals through legitimate means. The five modes of adaptation in strain theory are conformity, innovation, ritualism, retreatism, and rebellion.

Personally, i think, that Structural strain theory is a reminder that crime is not caused by individuals pathology only. It is also caused by social structures that create inequality and opportunity gaps.
