Yes, I wish they were at this event as well. I do have a clip of Myriam Sirois and Richard Cox together at a convention to celebrate the conclusion of the anime that was filmed a few months before this event. I'll share that in the coming months! Please look forward to it!
Indeed that's very true! And many of them are still dubbing. Sadly a lot of the dubbing industry has moved to the US, but these Vancouver based actors still get a few things occasionally. I wish Viz would use them more often.
So glad I found this. I was a huge fan as a young teenager and loved the characters. Some of the actors are hard to find on the internet, so it's great to see them here.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, unfortunately many of them didn't continue on into other productions, a good number stuck around for Inuyasha though. I wished they got more work, but so much anime dubbing shifted from Vancouver back to the States in the ensuing years.
It's even surprising of how Richard himself decides to voice another main character from one of Rumiko works shortly after and that is Inuyasha, by that time it was one of his notable roles that Richard ever did compared to the male Ranma.
I hope the reboot/revival of Urusei Yatsura, maybe, just maybe, Ranma 1/2 may see an eventual revival as well. Also it'd be great if those dub voice actors would do more con appearances (I know I would love to meet & greet with Sarah Strange, Myriam Sirois & Ted Cole due to having grown into an anime fan cause of shows like Ranma.)
Same! The Urusei Yatsura revival is actually connected to the 100th anniversary of Shogakukan (Takahashi's publisher) and they are supposed to be doing 4 projects to celebrate their century anniversary (with UY's new anime being one of the four). Unfortunately I think getting two Takahashi revivals is unlikely, but yeah, I would love it if they could finish out Ranma 1/2.
Goodness, there's a DoCo USA? Their Japanese counterpart would be proud Cathy's Shampoo voice is actually quite accurate compared with Sakuma Rei's, it's got that high enough pitch and Chinese sounding accent
Indeed, she did a really great job as Shampoo, it's a shame that so much voice work has moved out of Canada, I really wish I could see these actors in more anime these days.
Hoping as well, I think we'll know something on Tuesday when the latest issue of Shonen Sunday comes out. If it proves to be the case I'm hoping we stick with the original cast (Japanese and English). Exciting (potential) news!

It was a jarring transition at the time, I'm glad he got to be Inuyasha and have a character that will always be associated with him alone, but having started watching Ranma with Sarah Strange in the role, it was definitely an adjustment.
I wish the Ocean Group actors were used for more anime, they were very in-demand in the 1990s, but it seems most of the work has left Vancouver for Los Angeles and Texas.
@@TheRumicWorldwell more dubbing studios are in Texas and LA and have a higher quality recording environment and better pay, if I remember correctly two of the voice actors for Ranma went on to work for ADV films and later funimation don’t remember what happened to them after that tho
I wish we could've heard from Myriam Sirois, Michael Donovan, and David Kaye (Akane, Ryoga, and Soun)...
RIP Robert O. Smith.

I wish that Sarah Strange (the original voice of male Ranma and the dub) was included in this
Ranma ½ was the first anime series that I got into. It is still in one of my top favorites anime.
It's a fantastic series, I'm glad there's so much continued love for it over the decades.
Sarah Strange makes Ranma sound like Ralph Macchio from “The Karate Kid”.
They all look like they had so much fun!
They look so young. They were also very young when they first took on their roles, almost the same ages as their characters. Lol

@@TheRumicWorld Unfortunately, Viz doesn't do much anime anymore. They've always been a manga company first.

That's funny just like his Japanese voice actor who played both Inuyasha and Ranma.
They took a jab of that joke when Noriko Hidaka went with Kappei to a US convention and Richard happened to be there too

Sounds like this may actually be happening
This aged like fine wine. (So glad it happened, got me committed to finally finishing the series.)
Lovely experience with the cast it seems.
Pretty good day to hold the wrap party
I love like it ranma 1/2 and sailor moon series

Not surprising, the anime industry in North America is mostly America's show, Canada is always just trailing behind their southern neighbors
THIS IS SO COOL
Thanks for watching!
big fan of this show
It's great! I hope you're enjoying the remake as well!
That must have been one hell of a strange party seeing what else happened on that day....
At the time I was corresponding with the Viz producer of the show, Toshifumi Yoshida. He said it certainly dampened the mood.
@@TheRumicWorld They carried on as best they could, but Jesus what incredibly shity timing.
Did something bad happen, can you elaborate?
