    Robots - 2005
    In a world of sentient robots, striving young inventor Rodney Copperbottom (Ewan McGregor) wants to work for the avuncular Bigweld (Mel Brooks), whose Bigweld Industries makes spare robot parts. But Bigweld has just been deposed as company head by the villainous Phineas T. Ratchet (Greg Kinnear), who wants to make all robots submit to profitable forced upgrades. In this animated adventure, Rodney and his friend Fender (Robin Williams) go underground to fight Ratchet's evil plans.

      @Dr.Oofers Год назад +76

      To those confused about this, I suppose this is meant to say that Transformer parts are similar to how human organs work. They not really a “swap and fix”, remember, organ transplants can go wrong. Iirc, sometimes the body will fail to recognize and integrate the replaced organ with the body’s natural system. So it’s possible that transformers could suffer similar issues if you try to replace one of their parts.

    If you think about it, Robots was actually a pretty dark kids movie. They take old out moded Robots, melt them down, and turned them into upgrades for newer Robots to wear. That's really creepy and very very dark.

    They don’t build an adult right away because what I haven’t seen in this movie is coding. So you can’t program an adult. You have to start with some holy starter OS and it will learn itself over the years.
    Making a child an adult body, there have been a Myriad of movies exploring how awkward that would be.

      @@ginocanterino258 No, it’s you who is forgetting that humans are also animals and have inherited the traits that make us care and want for offspring. Emotion are purely a human thing. And a desire to see offspring grow up is a biological instinct. Which in Robot society doesn’t exist. The only thing human thought shared with the robot thought, or any other alien species that might live a wholly different way (based on silicon as an example) is logic.
      Ancient Greek Stoic’s had an insanely similar ideas to those of Buddhism. Since those came about by logic and examination of human life. Only ideas that come through such logic are shared. Caring for one’s offspring is not logic, but a biological instinct. And as I proved in my previous example. It does not exist in every species. Therefore, the idea of a Robot wanting to care for a little robot first and only then a teen, and then an adult, is irrational. Because it’s purely human.

    Robots is probably one of my biggest comfort films, especially with its retrofuturistic setting. The world they're in is super creative (especially robot city), Ratchet was a very funny and entertaining villain, solid animation, perfect soundtrack, Fender is nonsensical in all the best ways, hell I even like Rodney's parents. My only complaint about Robots is that some of the jokes are too juvenile for my liking, but any jokes that weren't toilet humour pretty much landed for me.

    I actually got Robots on DVD in a pack with it's soundtrack. There were other options like this but I picked that one. (Don't ask what the others were, this was about 15 years ago.)
    Anyways, I for some reason decided to watch the movie in Spanish with subtitles and I watched it in whole that way. (I actually was interested in Spanish but I didn't do that for every movie.) I did this a couple of times.
    However, I have never seen Robots in whole in English. I get maybe halfway through it at most and get bored, only really admiring the animation and soundtrack.
    Speaking of the soundtrack, I listened to THAT quite often. So I actually preferred songs like Shine, Right Thurr, and Get Up Offa That Thing to the movie itself. So make of that what you will.
    Fun Fact: The song More To Life is on the Christian CD Wow 2005.
