Nice review. I've had a Kelty Slickrock for 25 years and it's been amazing. Might be time to upgrade soon, so I'll definitely keep this pack in mind. Thanks again!
Yep! I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and it fits fine inside of the pockets on the hip belt. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy this channel as I try to release weekly hiking videos and gear reviews.
I recently purchased Gregory katmai 65 empire blue ans I'm so happy with my purchase why on this video it says raincover is an option yet the one I bought from France has raincover
It’s nice to have a few packs to use for different camp and backpacking set ups. Within the Gregory Packs I also have the Patos 28 and Optic 58. I like the traditional packs for shorter hikes and when carrying heavier gear.
Nice video, I have the Gregory Baltoro 75 for my winter pack. It is a great brand of pack for sure. Comfort is never an issue lol. Sometimes we need extra space for all the goodies we wanna bring, might as well carry it in style.
Totally Agree! For me, Gregory has always been my go to pack. I have the Patos, Optic and now the Katmai and they are all very comfortable and sturdy pieces of gear.Love how this pack now has the 360 freefloat tech which the straps will actually move with you versus staying in one spot. Great pack!
Every pack is different and traditional packs tend to weigh a little more than others. It is all about your gear and how it fits in the pack. If you have cut down your gear size and weight like tent, sleeping set up, cook system and it is smaller in size, then you may want to explore other packs if you are trying to cut weight. Thanks for watching!
I am definitely a gear head and have all kinds of backpacking set ups. This works perfect for the heavier/bulkier gear I have and is very comfortable to wear on trail. Thanks for watching and the support!
In short, it felt like I wasn't being pulled by the weight of the pack when tilting side to side. Since this is a pack I would take with my larger and heavier gear, it is helpful to have this added level of comfort. Instead of the straps being sown directly into the pack, there are two hinges that will shift to the left or right which makes it feel like the pack will shift and respond with you versus pulling against you. Thanks for watching!
Looked at lots of Gregory packs but haven't got one yet. I think we've tried almost every one BUT Gregory. Teton Sports, Granite Gear, Deuter, Osprey and Decathlon. Great review though, looks like a great option!
Wow! You do have quiet the collection of packs! As a fellow gear head, I also have a number of packs but three from Gregory specifically. I have the patos 28, optic 58 and now the Katmai. Great quality and an awesome warranty as well. Can't go wrong with Gregory! Thanks for watching and the support!
Thank you my friend! Gregory is a great company and their packs are some of the best on the market. Hope a lot of hikers watch the hair donation video to inspire them to do the same when they go on long distance hikes. It's a great way to give back!
Thank you my friend! There is a lot of features on this pack that make it unique. Great for hauling the larger gear items I have for sure! Thanks for watching!
Thank you my friend! This is my third pack from Gregory and is perfect for my heavier and bulkier gear on trail. Very comfortable, great quality and they have a great lifetime warranty. Good stuff!
Thank you my friend! Both are great packs and Gregory is a solid brand. Can’t beat their warranty either. Thanks for watching and the positive feedback!
As you increase the weight in your pack, you need as much comfort as possible and this pack is awesome for carrying heavy loads. Was surprised how much the 360 Freefloat system helped make the hike easier. Great stuff!
Which pack do you use? Can imagine you have to carry a lot for everyone in your group. BTW got stung by a yellow jacket on the Pinhoti the other day and it reminded me of your experience. Was grateful only ended up with a swollen ankle.
Great backpack and did i miss how many liters it comes in? My atmos 65 will hold a good amount of gear but thats if you pack the more compact high end gear … which i didnt learn until i bought my gear at REI… thanks for the great video metro-bro! You rock
@@MetroOnTheMove i did my due diligence and rewatched your video and yes you did indeed mention the size of these packs and this goes to show WHY i should rewatch all videos before responding… lol i have a comprehension deficit disorder after all, lol. Again thanks for your teachings and the landscape around you is awesome btw!
@@calvinmonroe2408 very happy I could help! The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Areas surround my home so I can be out there in less than 15 minutes which is great considering the North Georgia mountains are about 1.5 hrs north. Thank you for you continued support my friend!
As we are both gear heads, it’s nice to have options for different gear and hikes. Gregory has an awesome lifetime warranty program and the quality is great! This is my third pack from Gregory. I have the Patos 28, Optic 58 and now the Katmai. Good stuff!
Yep! That was a shocker for me as well. There is a bottle holder that pops out but this pack has a huge area inside for the 3l water bladder. With this pack, it’s best to use the 3D Hyrdo Trek system.
Nice review. I've had a Kelty Slickrock for 25 years and it's been amazing. Might be time to upgrade soon, so I'll definitely keep this pack in mind. Thanks again!
Gregory is an awesome company and I have several packs from them. Love how comfortable this pack is when carrying heavier gear!
Love your energy and enthusiasm for this pack! New sub here. Happy Hiking 🥾- Julia from the UK 🇬🇧
Hi Julia! Thank you for the kind words and positive feedback! Thanks for subscribing! Let’s keep moving!!
Hi. Very good review. In the side pockets on the hip belt, are they big enough to put a big cell phone? Like in Baltoro's new 2022 model?
Yep! I have the iPhone 12 Pro Max and it fits fine inside of the pockets on the hip belt. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoy this channel as I try to release weekly hiking videos and gear reviews.

Nice review, Metro. I'm getting into backpacking again and a new pack is where i'll have the best opportunity to cut a couple of pounds.

I like to hear more about your thoughts on the free floating suspension. A friend and I have joked about it, but have zero experience.

Thank you my friend! This is my third pack from Gregory and is perfect for my heavier and bulkier gear on trail. Very comfortable, great quality and they have a great lifetime warranty. Good stuff!
Great review! Does the floating suspension make the pack feel less stable at all?
Nope! This pack is very sturdy and comfortable when carrying heavier gear!
Great review! Much appreciated 👍
I’m still trying to decide between this one or the Baltoro 65l. Both seem fantastic. Hard decision!
Cheers
Thank you my friend! Both are great packs and Gregory is a solid brand. Can’t beat their warranty either. Thanks for watching and the positive feedback!
The flexible strap feature is clutch. I hate feeling like an immoveable object with my pack LOL

This looks like a great pack! Quality material and lots of zippers and smart compartments.
Love Gregory and their products. Great quality and comfortable to wear when carrying heavier gear!
I use a 75 liter pack and kinda wish it was bigger but I carry for my boys
