I saw a video of this accident and there was traffic crossing the bridge just before that ship hit it! What is he talking about that the bridge was closed and that saved lives??? It was open with traffic, you could see the cars headlights , for heavens sake!

Except the gov can provide the funds now. Litigation for something like this could take months or years. The gov will fund it and look to be reimbursed. However the company will probably just claim bankruptcy in the end as there's more than likely no way they can afford it. Basically either the gov pays or the bridge never gets rebuilt.

Actually it’s quite sturdy , the ship was out of control, going very fast. You also lose steering when you lose power. Heavy cargo load along with 8-10 knots. Nothing would had withstood the hit.
