dogs are a massive tease, just wasting the prime years of the best list the club has ever had. it's unbelieveable how bevo can't piece it together.
Best list the club’s ever had is a real stretch I think you could make an argument that it’s not even the best in the comp right now
Dogs 08-10 was better.
It's definitely not the best list in the AFL.
@@Not1Dimensional Ok well there’s no doubt that 08-10 dogs is better than any list in the AFL by an absolute mile today, atm they’re definitely at least top 6 for list quality today,
Been saying it for three yrs. Underachieved with this list
Swans supporter here. I came away from the game wondering how the Hell we won it. English was ao dominant in the ruck, Bont was epic and the Swans were sloppy up front. But the pressure the Swans applied was awesome and the Dogs were often not desperate at the ball. I also cant remember a game where i saw more desperate smothers by the Swans, very few by the Dogs.
It just seemed to me that the Swans wanted it more. Simple as that.
Simple answer English hit outs didn't go the dogs way . Look at the last 3 minutes of play dude you can see why rucks are almost obsolete in the Afl.
@@paulkyriakopoulos3444 Yep, I don't disagree with that. English, though, very often gives first service and/or he'll get involved for a forward fifty entry as well.
Swans dropped Hickey for this game because we knew English would thrash him and we weren't willing to sacrifice mobility just to have a role-player in. We figured the Dogs would win the hit-outs but we'd work hard to get the clearance nonetheless, and if/when we failed we'd still have a mobile, marking player - Amartey, McLean - to work for us.
I think we're going to see this more and more often. Pragmatic coaches who accept that the opponents' ruck is better so they don't even play their game.
Biggest waste of a list in years
The Bulldogs shpuldve won that game last night by 5 goals.
Bont and English were huge but they just couldnt capitalize on clearance domination.
Swans just took advantage of a lazy Dogs side
Look at what McRae has done, and you can't tell me that he wouldn't have that Dogs list absolutely flying. I think the use by date is up for Bevo, time for new blood at the Dogs.
It would be interesting to see if he could actually do it. It's easier said than done
How good is their list really though? Sure they have most bases covered, but their backline is very suspect.
They don't have a better list than Collingwood, Brisbane, Geelong or Port. Melbourne definitely have a better list than the Dogs.
Yeah but like Bucks said when he & Collingwood parted ways, that the players needed a different voice to his. He also mentioned that sometimes clubs keep coaches too long. The days of blokes like Sheedy & Parkin staying at clubs for so many years are over, as the footy landscape changes so quickly, the game looks different every few weeks now. It's not dishonourable to part ways with someone who has been great for you, like Bevo has, it can just make sense sometimes, & be the best thing for both parties.
@@Not1Dimensionalalso they have a very shallow forward line. 3 competitive forwards and the rest are just extra midfielders
Dees had to try something is Grundy was the only player available they had to give it a try. Ideally we needed a key fwd but that wasn’t an option
The Bulldogs list is top 4. They seriously need to think restructuring the coaching unit.
I disagree. Top 8 list yes, but they haven't finished top 4 in 13 years, so their list isn't what it's cracked up to be. Melbourne have by far a better list than the Dogs. Geelong do, Collingwood do, Port do and Brisbane do.
I see them as a 6-8 side and that's where I thought they would finish at the beginning of the year.
@@Not1Dimensional spot on, there top 7/8 players are as good as any teams top end talent but it drops off after that. To be a top 4 team you obviously need your top end playing well but more than anything your 2nd tier players need to buy in as role players and I'm not sure if dogs just get that. Geelong did this for years Dangerfield and Selwood/hawkins would carry them to finals every year just for them to go out, until Scott last year finally realized them dominating every week isnt going to be the reason geelong win it all.
Na I’m a massive fan of bevo… geez you guys are harsh lol. He definitely deserves to keep his job. This is his 9th year… if you count his previous 8 years the doggies have made the finals 6 times out of 8 in that period. A flag his 2nd year…
I understand the argument of getting new blood in, new era… but he hasn’t failed enough to warrant getting the flick… it’s a little over the top in my opinion. I fully believe he deserves to stay. I’m an Eagles guy so I’m very sympathetic to coaches under the pump…
I think a good constructive criticism of Bevo is that in 4 of the 6 years the doggies made finals during his reign, they have lost 4 elimination finals (but 1 flag and a runner up 2016, 2021)… but other then this, I rate him as a coach.
I agree.. Too harsh
Bevo is living with his 2016 Dogs mindset. Got them a flag great work but the team is too talented to be missing the top 4 each year. Can't say he has not had a good squad since winning the flag, they've got a recruited Treloar. Got Lobb (even if he is crap they head hunted him). Brought in Liam Jones and yes currently injured, overpaid for Bruce at the time but this team is just filled with inconsistency. Most of their dominate ball winners besides Bont and Libba just care about getting cheap handballs and bumping up their stat numbers. Bevo should do the honorable thing and resign, if the Dogs miss the finals there's no other option. Has no plan B or C and relies too much on his "dominate midfield" bullying sides. Not a dog fan but it must be so frustrating watching this team week in and out having so many good patches ruined by runs of inconsistency.
The group probably needs a fresh vision. It's not a bad thing, they won't be rebuilding, more than enough youth in the ranks to compete for finals for many years ahead. Look at Collingwood, Buckley step aside, fresh vision and they're flying again. RIchmond will probably be the same next season.
There’s more Craig McRae’s out there, Yze and Josh Carr I suspect will be great AFL coaches.
What Goodwin is trying to do with Gawn and Grundy has been a mystery to all us Demons, Jackson stayed forward lot of the game with short spells on the ball...Gawn and Grundy often are not on the ground at the same team, so yeah you would have thought one was forward one dropping back..but maybe several games only...
Another week, kane calling time for another coach. Lmao
yes beveridge coach not working. the right coach would have them winning that game
Any other coach, we would've been top 4 at least.
I agree 100% with Kane. As a long term doggies supporter I am sickened watching the doggies play totally confused. Beverage has to go.
Does Cornes have any other ideas apart from 'sack the coach'. Only coach he doesnt want sacked is Hinkley
Bevo may be actually seeking to get fired. Why else would he move some of his best players out of the midfield and replace them with those below VFL level? He has several better players in the VFL yet continues fielding about six that have no judgment. As a result, the dogs play 12 against 18; for the six no-hopers may as well have stayed home.
Why not just resign instead of trying to be fired
@@saisakethkomerelli19 Why not resign instead of getting fired? I learned long ago that when something does not make sense, look for the financial angle. Perhaps termination is financially advantageous for Bevo. The poor fellow has utterly lost his way as a coach, fielding six D-grade players.
Moving Bruce to defence was a disaster, placing Poulter on the wing is crazy. Moving McRae out of midfield to half-forward is myopic. Recruiting Lobb instead of strengthening defence alone disqualifies him as coach: only the WCE and North Melbourne have a weaker defence than the dogs. They are so easy to score against.
The Bont and Libber keep them competetive. But until the dogs stop the mindless practice of zoning, they will remain a mediocre team.
Kane is a troll
Collingwood supporters made it clear before the season started that Grundy rarely contributes up forward or takes marks around the ground.
The only people who believed that the arrival of Grundy would be successful were media commentators intent on making Collingwood look bad. The same ones who claimed that Collingwood would miss the finals.
Whos going to out ruck Oscar, and Brissy by 40 Hahaha
Interesting how they rarely say “is Horse’s time up?”
Bevo’s coaching record is similar to Chris Scott’s record before the cats won the 2022 premiership.
It’s the complete opposite of Scott’s, Geelong made top 4 like clock work before 2022, the dogs haven’t made it under Beveridge
They’ve all got vested interests in these things.
King was horse’s teammate for the best part of ten years, if not more. He ain’t gonna criticize him. A bit different when he’s knifing other people though.
what 💀… Chris Scott finished top 4 basically every year since 2011 bar TWO… Bevo has NEVER finished top 4… they’re not even comparable, Bevo would be lucky to polish Scott’s shoes. Completely disrespectful to Scott.
@@jojo-con2027 The point is until 2022, under Kris Scott the Klown Kats had only won one flag just like like Bevo's doggies.
I accept you apology
@@PetraKann no LMAO, u said his coaching record was similar… far from. Chris Scott has the best winning record of ALL TIME and has coached more than 300 games. not even close to comparable.
I don't get the people who think the Bulldogs list is top 4. It's not as good as Brisbane, Collingwood, Geelong, Port and Melbourne's. It's an overrated list. There's a reason those teams I mentioned have been more consistent.
When did the Bulldogs last finish top 4?
Their ceiling is 5-6. They are not a top 4 team.
They got that freakish flag 7 years ago. But with all that talent, haven't finished top 4. Bonkers.A fresh message needed? But what if they make another PF this year?
I think Rory Lobb is worth
Trying in the back line.
You might as well get your moneys worth
He doesn’t have the discipline or work ethic for a backman, def a flat track bully type of player
If it wasn't for the media putting heat on football clubs, 90% of the coaches who have been sacked in the past 15 years would have kept their jobs.
No but it is for Hinkley,10 years achieved nothing
9:51 fart
😂
Hahaha 😂 true!
Yes 💨
Right on money. Kane tunnel vision.
Holy shit 😂
Bailey Smith can't get up because he's not on the gear any more. 'Mental health'
Do you have any evidence of that? Or is that your assumption just because he got caught once before?

Good for you
Why would you say that, Bevo is the Man for the Bulldogs!, I'm a Pies supporter and I think the Bulldogs were very close to snatching the game at Marvel!, Good coach that Bevo.👍
The reason why we are so dominant but cant convert and keep losing, is because players like bont and libba are carrying an average team.
Our backline as much as I like the triers there is below par. Forward line still has an upside of potential but if Bont and Libbq don't fire we rarely win
"100 percent ".. hey listen... hasn't that comment exploded .. just like "absolutely" did a year or two ago.😅😅 😅wonder what the next one will be eh?
Hey mate I'm not saying though "100 percent" to your comment. " the reason we are so dominant " .. nope you aren't.. is it because " St Luke" ( where happened to that one). Is it because the St Luke special aura has just .. gone? 😅😅😅
.
No it's Brother Luke isn't it?
Cant keep Grundy out of ANY side
How can Kane justify any of this while giving Hinkley a decade long pass?
Beveridge IN LESS TIME has taken the bulldogs to 2 grand finals and a flag while hinkley never has and Kane endlessly praises Ken and never has his head on the chopping block.
Theres bias and then theres a clear agenda to cause as much drama and stress at other clubs as possible to give his own club a leg up.
Kenny has won minor premierships, 4 or 5 top four finishes, dragged Port back from the literal brink for closure, it's a different situation.
@brendonmackay4861 clubs don't play to win minor premierships they're there to win flags. Kane is happy to dig into everyone else to be sacked years earlier then Ken but is silent for him. Hypocrisy in its simplest terms
@@devilwarr1or Pretty hard to bag a bloke who's won 13 in a row.
@@Power_Prawnstar you mean a coach who hasn't won or even made a flag in 11 years?
@@Power_Prawnstar how's that streak going now? No depth at Port. Time to sack hinkley, 11 wasted years
I agree with Kingy .. i dunno whats been up with Nax but since he got injured and came back hes a shadow of his former 😈🤘
Poor Grundy. Pies could’ve really utilised him this year but he’s just such a dent on the salary cap.
Oh, you think he’s poor? lmao. In hindsight, his manager did him the biggest disservice negotiating that contract. And yes I know you would want to get paid as much as you can, but if it’s going to affect how your club can function going forward, which it did, then you should deal with what comes your way by consequence. If Melbourne can trade him out of the club for a genuine chf. He’ll be at his third club in three years next year. Imo
Bevo mucks the team around too much, it's a bit of a joke, Mcrae has 20 CBA's one week, none the next, rinse and repeat.
Talent has got them a long way, coaching has held this list back.
Grundy had a good offer on the table from Port, he should have taken that, imagine Port now with Grundy in the middle, maybe next year?
lets ruin someone elses career
AFL media is so annoying. The commentary around the game is so over-saturated that in 2 weeks the Dogs have gone from a serious top 4 chance to having their coach sacked.
One minute they're cooking Bevridge, then he goes on a run and say he deserves praise, now they're back to cooking him lmao
With regards to resting players for Port, obviously you won't rest them all together in one game.. LoL and you can rest them against Carlton, since they've been horrible.. Kane, stop pretending like Port is about to lose.. Why would anyone expect Carlton to win?
This is the rhetoric of all major sports shows .Sack everyone because it gives us something to talk about ! Dew just got sacked now they are onto the next target and once they're gone the head hunt will be on for the next .
Just about to comment when I read your post. You are spot on.
It's blatantly obvious why these guys (and Caro) in the media put the heat on someone every week, but last time I looked the Bulldogs were still in the eight.
We're all armchair experts, but we don't have the same platform as the likes of King & Cornes. The way they go on you'd reckon they could coach a team to the flag every bloody year. They don't seem to care that they are toying with a person's livelihood in order to feather their own nest.
The media has so far this year succeeded in getting Dew sacked, tried their best to oust Simpson, and are now setting their sights on Beveridge. At the start of the season they were all baying for Hinkley's blood and that hasn't aged particularly well at this point in time.
The reality is that as far as these guys are concerned, 17 teams fail every year because apparently winning is all that counts.
dogs have had one of the best lists in the comp for the last 2 years, they should be doing better. It also doesn't help that they are playing so many players out of position, and making players worse. Bevo has lost the plot and the dogs need a change, simple.
@@thesecretwombat056 I disagree that they have one of the best lists. They have a few real A-graders in Bont, Daniel, Macrae, Treloar, English and Liberatore who turn up every week. After that they have a whole bunch who play well sometimes and a couple that are just fringe players.
Personally, I think Bevo's doing fairly well with what he's got at his disposal.
p.s. I don't barrack for the Bulldogs so I don't have any skin in the game.
@@morningsky8045 yep and if anything Bevo has overachieved with the lists he has had. They haven't finished top 4 since 2010.
The one coach who underachieved with that club was Rodney Eade. I thought the Dogs had a better list from 08-10 than what they do now.
@@thesecretwombat056 As a supercoach and Afl fantasy player I can't disagree with Bevo playing some out of position which has me as a non supporter scratching my head , but if you compare them to the top 4 their list is nowhere close .They might at best have 5/6 genuine stars, another 4/5 very good players then it fades pretty quick to up and comers and role players.
Cornes - Bloods are a bottom 6 team. His favourites Port beat us by a point in the last ten seconds of the game. LOL
Carlton won't beat Port lol
Nah they'll smash them lol
We need to make it a rule that if you are over the age of 40 you can't call or be called a nickname like 'Bevo'.
It’s literally his last name just easier to say. Llordo, Damo, kaneo all have the same thing lol
bevo is devo
Dumb comment there's no age limit on a bloody nickname especially if it's short for your last name
I think you're a bit hard on the Grundy situation. Most people pre-season thought it was gonna work. In the last few weeks people (I think including King and Cornes) have been saying "It's not working, they need to change it up" - now that Melbourne has changed it up, you're questioning the decision. If they hadn't changed it up you'd be critical of them persisting....
They’ve both said it was the right call to get Grundy. But if you look at the stats neither of them are dominating and it’s not giving them any bigger of an advantage then just having Gawn and Jackson.
@@itsWAHOO2012 Agree with all of that - but they seem critical of Melbourne dropping Grundy now - but they'd be equally critical if Melbourne persisted with him (as I say, I think King was already calling for the change these last few weeks).
I wonder if Kane and David’s time is up. Same old boring story creations give it up guys try something else in life.
1 Grand Final win. 1 other GF appearance.. Finals as well.... Who wants to be a coach when you have media hounds constantly calling for coaches heads.
