Carman was one who influenced me during my early years in NY, a foreign place where I didn’t feel that I belong..and here it is years later- his music still blesses me with comfort. Miss you brother in Christ.

This song started so well to until 1:35 when some demoniac decides to introduce that African voodoo drumbeat nonsense to send the rest of the words of the precious song down the bottomless pit.
My dear Source!!! The "demoniac" you refer to is Carman himself. This is how he chose to present the song UNTO THE LORD. So I see a contradiction of your words. Either you worship God IN FAITH, focused on the expressed words of the song or you don't. If not, then deal (before God) with your own prejudice (pre-judgment) of the song and the native rhythm you assigned to it - thus attempting to demonize both song and a people whom God created. I can guarantee you this, where the Spirit of God is (for He dwells in the praises of His people), there is no darkness whatsoever - not even a hint or trace - nor demons. God is holy. "But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel" (Psalm 22:3).

Dear@@H0LDENSUX The scripture you use, 1 Thess 5:22, and the words you say once again contradict each other. You say: if it SOUNDS evil, then it's evil. That definition you use to discern the evil [and by extension, the good] is wrong and totally devoid of God's Holy Spirit.
You do not know what evil truly is. Evil is the absence of God and all His attributes. (And we know that God is everything good - no evil at all in Him - Mark 10:18.) So, if a person IN FAITH, offered the sacrifice of praise unto the Living God (Jesus Christ the Son, and God the Father, and God the Holy Spirit), God receives that sacrifice of praise b/c He honors faith. As it is written, "without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb 11:6). It continues to say"...for he that cometh to God must BELIEVE that HE is, and that HE is a rewarder of them that diligently seek HIM."
[This song gives everyone of us (believer or non-believer) opportunity to live out this scripture before God as we worship; and thus, to please Him.]
Regardless of your dislike for the change in the music at 1:35 that Carman used, it doesn't make it evil b/c you didn't like the SOUND. That's simply your preference.
It is wholly incumbent on us as true followers of Jesus Christ to be careful of the way we use our words. For Jesus said (Matt 15:18-20),
"18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man"...
"Calling it as it is", as you say; when we are not filled with, or walking in the power of the Holy Spirit can only do harm/evil; not good. If the Holy Spirit is not in the picture to give us true understanding of His Word this can be dangerous. (I'm talking of your use of 1 Thess 5:22 to justify your unsavory choice of demeaning words.) Here's what Jesus said again (Matt 12:34-37):
"O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 "A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned."
Again, go before God and let the Holy Spirit reveal TRUTH to your heart. Demeaning an entire people, and calling someone demoniac b/c of a SOUND preference is not a light thing with God, who loves all people. Written in love, not condemnation.
@@gmcneill5562. Yes, looking forward to the judgment seat of Christ on this issue. While your reference that God is love, you forgot to mention that God is a "consuming fire" in Hebrews 12:29. As a matter of fact God hates the sinner in Psalms 5:5 quote "The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity." Jesus Christ’s favorite verse was taken from Isaiah 66:24 because he quotes it more than any other piece of scripture. Refer to Mark 9:44, Mark 9:46 and Mark 9:48 quotes:
“44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
“46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
“48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.”
To suggest that the scripture is written in love only and not condemnation as well is utter nonsense. John 3:16 "For so loved the world.." "love" is past tense. Only until the person receives the LORD Jesus Christ as their personal savior can that love from God be realized as shown in John 3:18 quote "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Satan's most effective weapon against the church is using carnal Christians to stir up arguments that could distract us. It boggles the mind that anyone could attribute any instruments used by Carman to worship God in this song to African vodoo. crazii4christ. If you trust Jesus and LET HIM bring that peace that VeraMarie Cano spoke of, then He will speak to you in a still, small voice and from His most holy and precious Word - the Bible. (1 Kings 19:9-13)
But also know, sometimes the devil may be at work, planting seeds [thoughts] of guilt, shame, and condemnation in you, when you've actually done nothing wrong (2 Cor. 10:4-6). So wait for God to speak to your heart (1 Cor. 4:2-5). And know HE does not condemn you ever (Psalm 37:32-34), especially when you are coming to Him to search you, heal you, forgive you, and sanctify you (make you holy). He loves you at all times and will NEVER leave you or forsake you (Heb 13:5).
"There is therefore NOW no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit" (Romans 8:1).
