Hi Ty, great videos. Two weeks in with my new Sportster S. I have been looking at the owners manual and I think you may have mixed up the front fork adjustment elements. The top screw on the right is for Compression. The top screw on the left is for Rebound and the two bolts on both sides underneath the screws are the Preload. Figure 15. in the manual is a little unclear but I think that is correct. Let me know your thoughts.
If that is the case, then thank you for the clarification. Many times I have to rely on my subscribers to learn too! I'll take a look at the manual again to that I can have a better point of reference. I appreciate your attention to detail! Thanks for watching and have a great day!
Thank you so much for the kind words. The Sportster S is a fantastic motorcycle. I believe that fender was stock for me when I bought the bike. Have a great day and thank you for watching!
Thank you. I appreciate that very much! I’m honestly not sure. I would check with your local dealership for the best information there. Good luck and I hope you find a solution!!
Great video. I feel like a dummy though. Haha. The front preload, I need a wrench for this yes? I made both rebound and compression settings to comfort, but don’t really understand how to adjust preload… also took the side cover off using the key but now can’t get it to stick back in 😂 any help appreciated. Thank you.
Hi James! For the most part I really couldn’t tell much of a difference on my test rides. I think the motorcycle rides really smooth from the factory. Thank you for watching!!
I am confused you turn the front right one all the way clock wise then adjust the compression counter clockwise and then you turn it all the counter clockwise ???
Hey Sam. I no longer have the Sportster S or I would go out in the garage and offer more assistance. Sorry if my instructions were confusing but I do appreciate your time and thank you for watching!
@@TyFromTennessee Mine was turned the minumum so that's why I coudl't turn it that way but I turned it clockwise to 11 clicks since I'm about 195 lbs with all my gear and cargo
I bought the bag like you have on the back but I pulled open the tail piece and put the knots under it and it is very lose and pulls up the back piece. How did you attach yours?
Hi Nicole! From what I remember, there’s some hardware and may be a few clamps that come with the bag that have to be mounted underneath the seat. Thank you very much for your time and I hope you have a great day.
My advice for you would probably contact a local H-D dealership that might be able to provide more information for you. That way the motorcycle can be dialed in just for you! It takes a bit of trial and error to get everything correct. Make adjustments...then ride, repeat, until you are happy with your ride. I sure hope this helps and I appreciate your time today!
Love this Sportster S, but due to my spine problems I am afraid to get one. How do you think, is it possible to mount Kodlin Lift Kit no. K66028 together with Wilbers LDC Nivomat Shock Absorber Set no. 309-1322-10? And is such solution going to results with more rear suspension travel than mounting only Wilbers Set? Or maybe Kodlin Kit as a cheaper option would be just enough? I am curious about your opinion.
I suffer from some shoulder aches and pains from a motorcycle accident that I was involved in about 2 year ago. Sometimes when I would ride the Sportster S for a full day it seemed to aggravate those aches and pains quite a bit. Thanks for watching! Much appreciated for your time today!
Another great video Ty, thanks!! Quick question, for reference, what is your height and weight? How do you find the suspension on the Sportster S? I am trying to find one, no luck so far, it seems like Harley is taking "orders only" for now, since two of the factories are currently closed, so my only option would be, reserve one and good luck?
Hey Ronald! I'm 5'9 and the bike fits me just about perfectly. I had some taller riders on the bike and from what I can tell most like it too. I sure hope you can find one and take a demo ride. It really is a fantastic motorcycle! Thanks so much for watching. I appreciate your time today!!
@@TyFromTennessee Thanks Ty, I trust you, I guess, I will reserve one.....I am 5'9 too, about 195 lbs.....I see you on that bike and honestly, I am so jealous!! I want one!!
Is anyone facing with back pain with the forward controls or is it just me, after half an hour or so I'm having a stiff back and some sort of pain on the lower back. (I'm 26 and a fit guy)
Yup. When I rode the Sportster S for more than a few hours I would really feel it. I rode it one day all day and was all types of twisted up the next day so I get it. Thank you very much for watching!
I test rode this bike in Daytona and OMG 😱. That powertrain was wow. The handling was slow and the foot pegs I would like mids but everything else was wow I hope Harley makes the Bronx.
Yeah man. I would like to see the Bronx too. Really cool bike. I was able to test out a Sportster S with mid-controls. If you ever get to let me know what you think! Thank you very much for watching! I appreciate your time today!
The suspension on the motorcycle is surprisingly comfortable. There are a lot of different ways to adjust to your personal preference. Thanks for watching! I appreciate your time!
This is a critical vid for any Sportster S owner. Great job.
Thanks Brian! I appreciate that very much! Like I said, not an expert...just trying to help out!
Thanks you for these videos, really helping me unlock the full potential of the sporter s!
That's great Oliver! I hope you enjoy your Sportster S ! It's really a great motorcycle!
Thanks Ty, i appreciate all your information on the Sportster S!
Hey Ed! I'm happy to help in anyway that I can. Thanks for checking out the video! I recently saw a 2023 Sportster S in blue and it looks soooo good!
Great vids brother!! keep em coming!

Thanks for the fantastic video, sir. I really dig that rear fender though. Where did a get it? Does it stop the bidet action?

Nice suspension review! Thanks. Have on the ‘S’!
I’m just learning, but wanted to pass it on to others. Thanks Willy!!
Where did you get the splash guard off your rear fender?
Nice work buddy. Taking some the general knowledge towards my new bike now. Thanks man.

It’s a great video but is there a way to make the rear go low a little bit? I am 5’4. Thank you

Just bought my bike and uour video was very helpful. I think my idle is to high. If you could do a video for the idle would be great. Thanks

Thank you very much for that. I appreciate the compliments!
When I try to turn my knob it's really hard. Do I have to loosen anything?

Since I published this video I have traded the bike in, but I'll go back and take a look at the video.

Good info for those that have this bike. Wish it was that easy on my Road King and Wide Glide. I don't think I can adjust the front at all.
Hey Greg. Yup. It seems to be much more difficult on my Street Glide too. Thank you for watching!
Wow! Ty that was a next level video!

Wait a second, I don't have a new sportster. Ooh darn. So far I have not come down with MBS. Multiple bike syndrome.
Hi Ray! That's cool man, but the Sportster S does make a fantastic second bike for me! Thanks for watching sir!
@@TyFromTennessee I think it would be great to have one, and also another cruiser. Like a Heritage, or road king.
Good video but please get the music out of your videos. It doesn’t serve any purpose. Just an advise from another RUclipsr
