- Welcome back for season 4 episode 1 of Real Karting Life 2018. Stop the bullshit and lets go racing is the moto for the new Real Karting Life season. This real karting life motovlog is from round of 1 of the Superkarts USA Pro Kart Challenge at buttonwillow raceway. I have change to the shifter kart S4 class which is the 30years and older class so I get to race with people more like me know. Mrs true Racer and babe true racer are not out at these events but they will be in some of the later events. It definitely feels good to be racing in the s4 shifter kart class now as I am more competitive and racing against people that can drink beer.

Matt, you've provided a unique perspective on the inner workings of a race weekend. Good job prepping, racing and filming! We run the F500 class in SCCA which has a lot of similarities to fast carts. Looking forward to more of your racing videos.

Great video, that rude and obnoxious bloke on the microphone could do with checking his language and attitude with all those kids around though! Sure you need to follow the rules, but there are much better ways to make that point!

Keep these videos coming! You should come try racing at the Northern Nevada Kart Club (nnkcreno.com) some time. We've got a great group of shifter drivers and a purpose built track made just for sprint karts with some great elevation changes. Oh and we have In-N-Out.

Cool - definetely one of your best karting videos yet! :)
A comment on the driving: I often see you starting out gently and being way to much of a nice guy on the opening lap or two. Often you loose serveral spots because of it. You are faster than the guys behind you! Slam the door on them and get into your grove and get the pace up asap.
It's a fine balance I know - I tend to do the opposite and be too aggresive on a cold car.

Nice video, but I do miss the pit boss! Disclaimer: I am totally clueless about real life racing and gocarts, so pardon my backseat, sim-driving. But, it does seem to me you are loosing the most time by not getting the throttle back on early enough when you exit corners. You tend to gain a lot on braking and entry, which to me seems like you are fast-in-slow-out, not slow-in-fast-out? When you compare to the last footage with the other driver, if he is right behind someone mid-corner, he hangs on during the exit, where you tend to loose momentum on the driver in front of you?
you could be and most likely are correct but you do have to account for the time/speed gap when going into the corners. either way I am always looking for ways to improve

If you need help with the setup of the kart hmu and if you want a less slidy rear in mid corner and out go a tad wider in front

What tire psi do you recommend when it's temp is hot and when the temp is cold? Because I run margay k3 kart and I'm trying to see what I can do to go faster!
good question but this depends on a lot of other variables. Good rule of thumb is you want your hot PSI to be about 13psi
What about cold tires? Because I watched your video of you testing what tire pressures you you were wanting to use by going down 1 psi everyone time you went out on the track. And I'm running a LO206 engine.
Be cause the Manuel that came with my kart said you want the tires to start heating up and going faster at the last 25% of the race

Where's your on screen telemetry with track map? Linear potentiometers give good looking data comparing to just on/off sensors.
Your front camera vibrates and video stabilization is annoying to watch. In my opinion. Just looks wrong and un-intuitive! You should add few tracking dots to the upper bumper pipe and in editing software try to lock the camera to these. Zoom out enough so that you have raw material to crop from.
You asked for feedback and here's what came to my mind. Also videos are too long. Where's the content. What will I gain of watching these? Where's the jokes and humor? If something doesn't have some real valuable content then it should at least have good jokes. As fellow karter I wouldn't still watch these because I don't care what others do. I'm not the twitch -kinda person that likes to watch what others do, as I like to do it myself.
I love your helmet painting. I got the same style(!) that was inspired by "the cast away" wilson volleyball.
