- I have found the Sand Scorcher build series on my computer, so I have made this "45 minute long compilation video" of the "best bits". This was requested by a subscriber some time ago. There is a new start intro and a new ending with the best bits in between! Enjoy!

She is beautiful , well worth the effort ! ............................best paint demo I have seen , because most people don't have a clue , spray or brush .................I can't watch them work !
Lovely comment thank you!
Hey this is such a great job!
Looks so nice and I love the Sand Scorcher since 1979 :)
Thanks for uploading these again. Very informative and useful. I'm slowly practising on my hard plastic bodies with sanding, painting and polishing. It's all a bit trial and error, so this video is a great help for me. Thanks again.
You are very welcome my friend 👍
Hi Simon, great video, love the look of that VW beetle. You're never too old to learn something new. When I was doing my apprenticeship, many years ago, my tutor said to me 'if you learn just one thing, then the day is worth while'. Great filming and editing, take care, keep well. 😉😄
Thanks John! And you my friend 😉👍😊
Thanks mate, you have no idea how much this helped me paint my sand scorcher. It’s such a nice car I would hate to mess it up!
Hi Jacob! You are very welcome mate......it makes it all worthwhile knowing people have enjoyed and gained knowledge from my videos 👍
i thought i was the only one having trouble with these.. so they are a pain in the ass... thanks for the video
hi great job painting if you use a use a clear coat after your masking and before you colour change then you will seal your masking tape and you will get no paint seepage I have done this for years and always get fantastic line and no colour run. This works on this type of body. I have done it on clear shell with great results as well . Take or leave its just what I do.
What great advice that is!!!! Thank you! 👍😊
Or you could add the masking on to the white, then do another coat of white before to fill the seepage holes with more white before applying the blue.
Hi Simon! Great job - No, I'm not an expert, either, but we pass on what advice we can! experience matters! Great tips there along the way. Always love a Beetle body, this one looks so cool. Love the methodical approach and the robot arms! Painting is an art form, and a pleasure to do correctly. You nailed it on this body - a masterclass - top job my friend! 👍😊
Thanks Mark my friend 👍😊 Yes it is an awkward one to do perfectly.....this is the runner body, so I still have the shelf queen body to do! Watch this space! 😊😉
Hey Mark,
nice to meet you here :)
Yes this Sand Scorcher is amazing!
Love this model since it's release in 1979!
I finished my own Sand Scorcher now, based on an extended DT-03 Chassis...
Thats my BEST work so far:

nice build video! enjoyed it!
Wow thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Top work Simon, one of the toughest paint jobs for sure but most rewarding!😉
Patience is key for sure!
I don't really paint much these days l try to get the pre painted bodies from tamiya lol my hands and eyes have started to go off the boil...getting older☹
So l have big respect to anyone who can do these great paint jobs😎👍
Thanks so much James! Yes every day there seems to be a "new ache" that I never used to have.......the ageing process brings with it new challenges whether we like it or not! Great comment mate, thanks! =)
@@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel lol l wonder if l will be still down the beach one day with a walking stick and Rc?? Who knows ?😆👍
A helpful product for any painting like this is a basic rotating cake stand , lazy susan I think they are referred as. Just easier to rotate what you are painting
Yes I have one......I find them clumsy......so if I rotate the body myself I know where I am. I guess it depends on you the modeller!?!
@@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel fair do's. Yea simply down to what you are comfortable with. Having sprayed many custom star wars and marvel helmets I found it helpful using one. Half way through your vid and looking nice so far
@@davidhiscock1969 This one is my runner body. What I didn't film was I wiped it down with a contaminated rag (paint stripper) and so it took me a good while to T cut to get it as you see it in the video at the end. I am doing a Shelf Queen body soon......which I want to be flawless. Glad you are enjoying it 👍
@@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel you aren't alone in doing something very similar Simon. Been there myself. Will be doing a couple of these in the coming months . Would like to do the blue and white colourway and either black and red or red and gold 🤔
Enjoyable watch but damn I wonder why your previous channel was taken down.
Awesome video. I’m about to paint my sand scorcher and wanted to see how others did the paint job. Big question... I didn’t notice but did you sand the imperfection mold lines on the top of the 4 fenders? I know some guys have. But I’m wondering if it’s something that should be done to have a smooth top fender finish. Thanks!
Thanks Mo! Yes I did sand those as the line is not scale and shouldn't be there. Glad you enjoyed the video 👍😊
Simon Webb Awesome! Thanks for letting me know
Great video, but can't believe you didn't sand the mould lines off of the wings!
lol.....I thought they were feature lines.....you learn something every day! 😂
@@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel I did it with 2 of mine Simon, before someone pointed it out! :)
@@reaver69 lol 😊👍
Or fill the line on the front nose…
not only does the kit go together, Simon gives a joke:-) Greetings from Poland
Thanks for your comment mate.
How hard was it painting this RC car 2 tone I have one and I want to paint it to tone but different colors please please comment back Thank you very much for this video
How hard?.....that depends how competent you are. If you get the right masking tape.....that doesn't leak paint.....and you copy my actions here....it should be OK. Good luck 👍
@@SimonWebbRCandModellingChannel Thank you very much what is the best tape to use If please let me know I am also painting a brat the same colors
@@martinneps9387 I do discuss the tapes in the video Martin.
'My old tech drawing teacher ' There's one for your younger viewers lol goodold technical drawing, whatever happened to that i wonder :)
Yes...."if it looks right it is right....." lol 😂👍
probably done by CAD now ...........................another skill gone ..............................aaaaah well !
F150 yes.
So easy for them to do! 👍
You will have much better adhesion from the primer and paint!
Repeat with each step! Same as Building model car's or real car's!
Next time mate! Warm dish soap and water to remove all oils and loose dust from the plastic!
I used compressed air and a rag to remove the dust off camera. I am not sure what the consequences are from the minimal oils on the paint from my hands as I rubbed down thoroughly between coats and then wiped it and blasted it off with the air. It would be interesting to compare my body to a body that has had the treatment you have suggested!
