how can one think of music for so many emotions in one movie --- music for friendship, for love, for hate, for strength, for power, for good, for evil, for fantasy, for merry times, for happiness, for sadness, for hope, for regret..all in one movie and it just crossfades from verse to verse, from emotion to emotion...unbelievable...freaking unbelievable. This makes me sad... to remember Frodo's innocence, what a pure soul he was when the journey began. To see his expressions at the end, the expression of a person that has suffered and withstand a huge amount of deal in his life, but prevail. Damn you Sauron and all the evil in this world for destroying those pure and benevolent souls!
@@g1ftfromtheg0ds67 gladiator is a great movie no question, but doesn’t touch the level of LOTR. Movies like LOTR, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park...they are just in another league with their soundtrack alone

The highest praise I can give Howard Shore and the London Philharmonic Orchestra is that the music they have given us really feels like the magical music sung by the Ainur that led to the creation of Middle Earth. Prof. Tolkien would’ve been moved to tears.

As an old tradition, we watched all LOR movies during 2021 Christmas. At some point, I started to look up the LOR soundtrack, and from there, I looked up and listened to the LOR orchestras and deeply fell in love with the music. I was totally amazed by how many musicians were there to create such powerful music. My search didn't stop, I ended up booking a live LOR orchestra at Cleaveland Orchestra in the Summer of 2022. Eight hours of drive to get there, but I just enjoyed every minute of it. Best experience money can buy! Thanks, Howard Shore for your talent, and thanks to the whole orchestra to create such wonderful music for many and many generations to enjoy!
That violin theme that you hear for the ring and the the Shire theme have probably gone down in famous movie themes history along with other classic themes as Star Wars and Indiana Jones
ThoseWhoStayUofM The work of John WIlliams for the Star Wars soundtrack is definitely as good as Howard Shore's LOTR music, i consider both as pinnacles of modern classical composition. Star Wars music is more epic and marching, while LOTR is more tragic and folk-oriented.

I listened to this music in the best place possible, at Dolby Labs' movie theater in San Francisco where my husband was a sound engineer. We watched all 3 parts of the trilogy and the music sounded out of this world, it was magical, complemented by Enya's angelic voice. And film was just as magical. I bought a DVD to re-watch it again and last night watched the Fellowship of the Ring.
2:29 - 3:17 is just perfect, the finesse, the ascension, the power of the choir, the shivers down my spines, then right after, the violins enter with such beauty, WOW !!! The music in this movie is probably one of the best soundtrack ever created, thank you Mr. Shore.
