I would have been afraid 😱 pulling it down like that would have caused a leak on the coil. Nice work! 👍🏿
I enjoy your videos my brother. Keep up good job.
Dude, I have to say, since 1985 when I started, I only had 2 distributor leaks alone when looking for leaks on a refrigeration system, more on A/C systems. Normally there were multiple pin hole leaks from the 180's of the coils which were so thin you couldn't braze them without burning a larger hole in the 180's. I was never successful in repairing the distributors without replacing the distributor, and brazing in the lines into a new one. My attempts at repairing them as you did only made more leaks on the other lines, or not having the 56% bonding properly and simply rolling off the copper/brass. I know it's all in the prep., but I still couldn't do what you just did. Excellent job! My hat's off Sir!
Service techs are a dying breed. At least where I am all the new guys spend more time in sales classes than technical training. You’re an inspiration to us all. 👊🏻🤘🏻
Chris Adams-Easkold thanks Chris
Man.. let me tell you....I am a newbie stuck in the middle of both situations!
6 years as a tech now, never once stepped into a sales class
Good job west coast Dave.
i never see you or hvacr do installs.. you two be lucky. we just fitted a new water package in a ceiling... there was a wall in between where the unit needed to go, took 4 guys just to put it in place because we had to hold it by hand while some one else secured it. hate installs/replacements.
I’ve done plenty but I’m mostly service now. 32 years in I’ve done a ton of 24 hr tear outs put backs. All part of the trade.
All ways appreciate the the great work and all the valuable information that you share with us newbies Super Dave.
Awesome Dave, man i cant thank you enough for sharing your knowledge to all us newbies. You really care about this trade. I just ask one of my co worker where to he gets uv lights, and he didnt even wanna tell me where. 🖓🖓 And here you are sharing it with the world. God bless you man 🙏
Dave, thanks for the info like what solder and flux you use, tools you like for application etc. it’s helpful for new techs or us guys that work alone and rarely have another tech to bounce ideas off of.
You got Steve lavs firehose..good job Dave..you the man.keep tjem videos coming.
Do you have the link to that hose by chance.
Really like watching you
I can amagine all your service calls you didn’t film 👍🏻
Finally, a tech that isn't afraid of using solder on a leak. A man after my own heart.
Steve Warren my thought is it is no good the way it is what do we have to loose
Good fix, distributor tube. Cleanin' makes it breath.. Good job ,David
Very nice repair Dave 👍💪 old school with the silver. I use that as well , works great
CSC Refer and Hvac Guy thanks CSC
Don’t knock it till you try it. Mangorita good. 😃👍🏼
Nice tip on your distributor fix, cut lines. 👍
RefrigerationTech it’s easy to braze it from the top👍⚡️👍
I have never seen a freezer frose up that bad.
Kick ass repair there super Dave!
Desert88 Z28 thanks.
My favorite tip of the day is on the beer.
jamie saye most important tip. Drink good beers👍🍺
Nice repair on that distributor!
Total Tech thank you.
I live in milpitas ca just transitioned from residential to commercial/industrial I would pay for some training with you
Nice repair, Dave! Used the same stuff on a leaky condenser coil on a Trane Voyager last week, but not as involved as your flip n’ fix, 😂
Awesome on larger units I've done it it's really tricky and important is gotta be super clean... that flux does a good job of cleaning
Not easy repair Dave, nice work. Thanks for the tip on bending down the spider to braze.
If you had a paid channel, I'd paid for sure to watch this welding :)
Juan Todolí I’ll try and get video of it next time. And RUclips concept is free I’ll try and keep it that way. 👍 I’d rather share my knowledge than be some money grubbing poser. 😂😂
(Joking) ;)
Dave that old school what l use is the orange rod come with flux rod 56% blue rod is 45% Safety-Silv- 56 % flux Coated. Cost little higher worth cost no flux to carry and get hard haven’t use spool & flux for 15 years. Good job.
Edward Hvacr I’ve seen that. But always buy 56,
saved for now, but we all know the evil green crusties will win sooner or later :)
Love the shirt Dave 👍👍👍
You da Reefer man! I hope to someday be as good a tech as you are, Dave!
Josh O Hernell thanks for watching Josh
Outstanding taste in beer 👌🏼
Modelo Negra
Rico Cabrera yep 👍
See you burnt that evap.drinking to many suds.lol
You da man Dave! Thanks for the video!
Good stuff man! Thanks for the tips. Always look forward to your knowledge. Wish guys at my company were more like you. They don’t teach shiet!
Bear Downs I learned the trade from the old guys in my shop. They were old school and taught us right. And if you were broke they would buy you lunch.
one cannot teach shiet, if one doesn't know shiet and perhaps they don't know shiet ;))
throttle bottle that’s a good observation TB.
I know im late, but do you have the link to that hose.
Are you near San Diego ?
My favorite part of the video , the beer 🍻 part . Jk great repair Dave I’ve found several leaks there at the Distribuitor I’ve used 15% but must admit sometimes is a B to get in there ... great Video
Felipe Tafolla I’ve failed on some and had to purchase a new distributor because the solder would not flow.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C ohhh damn .. who do you usually buy those Distribuitors from Dave ? RSD, Allied,United ?
Felipe Tafolla RSD. Made by sporlan.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C good to know Dave in case I come across one that may be beyond repair 😬😁
Nor Cal le gusta la latinas oscuras!
Hablando de cervezas claro.
Nice plan of attack with the cut and invert tactic.
Lol great video Dave👍👍👍👍
Carlos you liked the giants print all over the cooler. 😂
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C lol 🤣🤣🤣 giants where I didn't see it, 🤣🤣
Great job! I’m more of Stella Artois.
Nice catch great tip I'll be worried about breaking any other old tubes bending them back could we use #8 to repair that you think nice vid and Thanks for sharing 👍👍👍😎
Gene K I’ve never used 8 so I have no idea.
Hell fuckin yes
multiple offender? but the worst part was the beer getting warm... oh no!!! Nor-Cal Dave to save the day! ( and beers)
Sean Taray ya no road pop on the way home to warm👎
Wait til the Sol micheladas are sold here. So good.
where did u get the water hose sprayer from sir
C&H GUY Steve lavs channel. He posted up a video about it about a year ago or more. Amazon he had a link in the video.
thank you
Cool vid, so you just evacuated and recharge with 407c no oil change needed or txv that nice to know. Good work 👍🏿
Cool Runnings Refrigeration I have other videos on that. You can add POE to system or use super change oil bridge product.
Next time I’ll try that super change oil 👍🏿
Nice job
Hi Dave! Love all the videos. Been learning alot from them. What is the name of that product you use for the oil change out?
Jerry Pinault super charge
is it best to pump down or recover the refrigerant before working on the evaporator?
you can pump it down no need to waste time for recovery
Super Dave!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
very nice job but give it 6 months...that tube sheet is all rusted out and the copper is green...more leaks coming...next leak quote new coil
I’ll see how it goes.
that freeze pattern does not always mean low on charge, could be under feeding exp valve. but you have a leak so yes low on gas.
I'm working as an apprentice and we had a very similar job if not the same. However, when the job was completed the fans would not run. I was told it had to wait for a while before it would start any reason why that is?
Todd Medium Wellington III was it a freezer?
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C yes it was.
Defrost termination and Fan delay, it stays off until the box gets down to a cooler temp. So it wont blow warm air.
APR928 ah that makes perfect sense thanks man I really appreciate it!
Todd Medium Wellington III glad i could help, im still fresh in this trade too, learn everyday.
Why was your shirt printed backward? Ah Ah Ah!
As always ,you should teach!
Nice work! What’s the best way to determine which solder to use? I can never figure out when to use stay bright #8, or 56 or 15
the mat I’ve never used staybright 8. Copper to copper I use 15. Copper to brass or copper to stainless. Or stainless to stainless I use 56.
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C thanks Dave. If your ever in the NY area it would be my honor to take you out for a drink.
the mat if I’m ever there it’s many drinks. We will drink like Vikings 😂👍
