RATTLING IN A GIANT BUCK | Bowhunting the Gun Season - Saddle Hunting Whitetail

  • Late in the Manitoba rifle season, I (Josh) took my bow to hunt a buck I called Kinger. He was an old Manitoba monster. I took my saddle and climbing sticks into a thick bedding area to do a hang and hunt for the day. Early in the morning, with the tail end of the rut in effect, I rattled Kinger into bow range and the rest was history. My biggest archery buck to date.
    We hope you enjoy the video and would really appreciate a like and subscribe! Thanks for watching.

      😂 When the buck of your dreams is walking out of your life, it gets frantic lol. You still gotta sell a big buck fight going down though! Was very lucky on the shot, I aimed for heart but by the time it got there it hit back. It ended up being much better than i thought, caught liver and being about 30 ft up in the tree it wasn’t too bad for height. Thanks for the watch and comment 👍

    Beautiful buck. Risky shot. Lucky you recovered him.

    • @clearwateroutfitters
      @clearwateroutfitters  Год назад

      Thanks Paul! Definitely a risky shot but at 32 yards I was comfortable with it. Aimed a touch forward and low but as he moved and dropped at the shot I ended up hitting further back and higher than anticipated. I ended up catching liver and a lung, making it a very lethal shot. Didn’t have much more room for error though.
      I personally don’t like taking moving shots for this reason but sometimes that’s all you got. Looking back I probably could have leaned out more in my tree and shot just behind the tree that was in front of him as he was standing still. There’s always something to be learned, good luck this season!

      I believe it is the Knight and Hale - Death Chamber deer call. Not sure if they still make it. Really good call for snort wheezes and doe and buck grunts but freezes up in the cold.

    To far of a shot, way back and aorta. Walking…..LUCKY….not good.

    • @clearwateroutfitters
      @clearwateroutfitters  7 месяцев назад +1

      Shot looks farther than it is, it was 35 yards which is personally my max when hunting deer late season. I feel very confident in where I'll put my arrow at that distance and even further but I find deer can start do things that you can't control beyond that. That was evident in this case with how he dropped.
      The one thing I shouldn't have done was shot while he was walking. It's something I never do because it's incredibly difficult with a bow. However I knew that was my only chance so I decided to tuck it into his shoulder. If you watch the video when I released the arrow (the red dot) was perfect but by the time the arrow got to him it was back and he ducked at the last second. In hindsight I should have aimed even further forward and a touch lower. However because I had made a decent shot it was still okay.
      I thought it hit the aorta as well but after gutting I realized the shot was lower than I thought and because he was quartering away it exited quite low and further forward. It ended up smoking the liver and catching the far lung.
