Is PEG-400 used to make SiO2 at the intermediate step? What is the function of PEG-400? Anybody explain in details.

PEG was not used in the process. Only sodium silicate and hydrochloric acid were used.

@@ChemExLK I work in a factory . There nanosilica is manufactured by using water,PEG-400, HCL, SS. At first PEG-400 is added to HCL and stirred. And then SS poured gradually into it and form product like yours. Water is added and break the product mechanicaly so that it cannot be solidified.
