Purchased the Soundbox several weeks ago and attached four inexpensive speakers from Walmart to it. Although it isn't contained within the engine like DCC, it is loud enough you get the feel of live steam. Several DCC modelers commented that it puts out a more distinct sound than their models. Wife says it sounds like we live next to a rail yard.
I have the same sound card but I get only one horn sound, dont understand.
Good job, Kato! Of course the whiners are going to whine about every nit picking detail but those people are truly miserable. What you guys have done is nothing short of AMAZING! Analog guys now get really good sound. Who would have thought it would come to pass. Kudos!
I like that the setup is very straightforward, especially for beginners like myself. I love the hobby, but I do not want it to get overly complicated. Excellent. I am assuming that only one loco be operated at a time.
Any small chance for a British steam version in future?
Awesome. Next, we need a simulation of the smells...
SD70ACe's dont have 645E3's
My wish list would include by first priority- 2nd Gen. EMD (SD-40, SD-45, GP--40, F-40,) second priority- 1st Gen. Alco (244 powered PA-1, PB-1, RS-2/3, RSC-2/3,) third priority- Budd RDC-1, 2, 3, & 4, and lastly, First Gen, GE.
A Nathan K5LLA horn would suit best for the SD70ACE locomotives
Speakers should be sold in the engines??? But truly great sounds👍
@KatoUsa, in the near future, are you going to put the appropriate horn for the sound card that is used for the Amtrak Locomotives?
What is that high pitched whistling heard throughout the video? Scared the s*** out of me, I thought my home's alarm system had gone off when I played the video!
Or rather when the steam engine is running
im assuming ANY locomotive by Kato would be compatible with this system and sound cards. Any locomotive I feel should work with the sound box. Regardless of manufacturer. Atlas or Broadway Limited or Bachmann. I have an Atlas BNSF im goung to try on this setup. I'll comment on the result later. I'm wondering if it would work. or is this a Kato products only sound system.
It will work with any DC/Analog engine, regardless of manufacturer
ACS-64?
None of those bells are electronic there mechanical
Good job giving the 70 the wrong start up sound. Ever heard of air start?
TeamGlockAustria It's a generalized sound scheme so it naturally won't be 100% accurate for every engine. We will be looking into engine specific cards in the future for certain locomotives but we want to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy their engines with sound in the time being :)
