I want to remind everyone that the T-50 was the jet that was competing against the T-7A for the new trainer contract.
The US could have had its own FA-50 but instead we chose the T-7A that is once again being delayed for more years.
Probably because Lockheed helped with the FA-50 and Boeing "needed" the work
Maybe big foolish decision made by US government.
the Fa50 is like a little F16 on steroids but the USAF was looking for F35 like trainer, the Saab plane was closer to it
the T-7 was also cheaper per unit. The T-50 is expensive for a trainer because it's got the bones of a light fighter built into it. It was a conscious decision that the Koreans made.
The F/A-50 would be an awesome supplement to an F-35 fleet. You don’t need 5th gen capability and cost for every mission. A lightweight, inexpensive, cheaper to operate and maintain airframe loaded with the best Gen 4+ electronics could perform 90% of the day to day missions and leave the remaining 10% to a smaller, more specialized F-35 fleet.
You could even work on optionally-manned variants in future
STOP making SENSE ! Will Yah ! What are you some kind of military reformist ! /s
All that said the F/A-50 has a relatively short renfe and small payload
F-16V
@ReviveHF It's much expensive in all aspects.
We have these here in the Philippines and they're damn good aircraft. They run the F404 from the Classic Hornet, but with FADEC. The ones in the Philippines have the EL/M-2032 radar, which is already designed to work with the Python 5 and Derby ER BVR Missile. The Block 20, which Poland is getting will have an AESA Radar and be able to fire AMRAAM. The Koreans can pump these out fast. I've seen the cockpits which are really nice, and talked to the Pilots and they love the aircraft. It's extremely nimble. I met some KAI Engineers here at Clark AB, and they said they've tested the F414 in one, and have a Refueling Probe attachment.
Lockheed helped with the design 🙂 the IFR system has been tested and is designed with help from Chobham
FA-50 aren't combat proven in comparison to JF-17 (Pakistan AF)
@peekaboopeekaboo1165 LMAO.. no. Already used against insurgencies, which is everyday. Widely used in Marawi Siege. It is combat proven. Idiot. 😂
@@peekaboopeekaboo1165 FA-50 is combat proven in the Miwali siege in the Philipines.

Crazy that KAI is able to get these jets ready to go in a good time while the T-7 just got announced to be delayed by another year while UPT/IFF is getting mega backed up from 38 issues
Edit: currently at 35 b course right now and wanted to add that the 38 did very little to help prepare us for 5th gen land (I’d imagine the same for vipers and strikes). Would’ve much preferred that they bought the T-50 instead of wait on the T-7
T-7 is for transient trainees from prop to ATT(Advanced Tactical Trainer). Unless the Air Education and Training Command risks cutting out this transient course, T-7 cannot be substituted by T-50(FA-50). The latter is an ATT, too much cost for the transient course. The empty weight of the latter is heavier than the max take off weight of the former.
The T-7 was a consession that the Uzs government made to keep Boeing afloat. Boeing threatened the government that if they chose the T-50, they will leave the military airplane business altogether. Now the US government is hurting. They were tricked.
LM(Lockheed Martin) has a sizable share in FA-50. LM is the company who first taught South Koreans how to make supersonic trainer/fighter. The trainer T-50 came first and its light fighter version FA-50 came later.
The two models use the same engine and weigh the same mass. T-50 , with the max speed Mach 1.7 (if you divide the speed number with the at-altitude sound speed, about 280~290 m/sec), is the highest-end trainer in the world. The real stuff. Advanced tactical trainer(ATT)! So a light fighter variant FA-50 is only a natural conclusion.
They say the single seat version(the proper light weight fighter version) has been overdue because LM did not want a (though with limited capability) cheap substitute for F-16s. LM seems to have changed this policy after the Ukraine war broke out. So you can see a FA-50 with Raytheon's AESA radar and AIM-120 missiles coming out soon.
Then, why on earth did South Korea, a not welathy country back in 1992, want a high-end trainer(the only true ATT in the world)? (A Formula 1 car in the 'trainer' community)
The secret is the South Korean pilot training course. These are 'crazy' guys. Finishing the entrance course with a prop trainer, the trainees are to pilot this high-end advanced tactical trainer(ATT).
Anyone who are familiar with the training courses in the US, Japan, Europe or Austrailia may be shocked. In these countries, there is the intermediate course where the trainees pilot light-weight, economic trainers for long enough time.
Have a look on the difference between T-38 trainer and F-5. Two are siblings, simultaneously born. But the engines and 'bones' are different.
SK(South Korea) had been one of the lisence producer of F-5 since 1982. Back then, SK was just beyond the level of poverty ( I mean, beoynd phisical hunger. Almost all parents could afford lunch boxes for their children).. They did not have money to buy T-38s. So they put the trainess on F-5 double seaters, once the trainees had finished the prop course. And they found this concentrated training course worked. So, in 1992, when they started developing a trainer, they chose a full-fledged ATT, which can be easily converted to a light fighter.
Of course, SK had had a lot of difficulties to sell T-50 and FA-50. T-50 is too high an end. FA-50 has lacked a best radar and powerful air2air missiles.
But times have changed. Many countries are looking for ATTs with F-16 or F-35 user interface. And many other coutries are looking for cheap substitutes for F-16 (though with limited capabilities). And LM will earn revenue from FA-50s: the amount may cover up all or sizable chunk of the lost sales of F-16s.

There was a specific clause in the contract between LMT and KAI that F/A-50s performance cannot exceed the F-16s, so the arms integration and radar capabilities were limited. But with the introduction of the F-16V that raised the limit significantly and allowed for Block 20 upgrades.
We bought them in Poland, because there is too long line for Vipers. We have already 12 delivered, although it is stock ROKAF version, but on the other hand Slovakia had just received first two F16V ordered back in 2018
After Poland gets enough F-35s and other new fighters, the FA-50 will still be useful as trainers and reserve fighters.
@@stupidburp They free up vipers from most air policeing missions to save the life of the viper airframes, let pilots getflight hours for less cost and they are a good replacement for the Su-22 ground attack jets we had and are pasing out (since they are realllly old and getting too costly to keep in the air +their airframes are spent). At best the Su 22 will end up in museums, as learning aids for ground crews in training, or as flying targets for live fire missile tests (SAM and A to A). Depending on future developments Poland will either buy some more Vipers to bolster the 48 they have or they will buy the KF21 Korean stealths (if they end up being less expensive than the F-35). Basicly Poland is going for a Hi-lo mix of F35 for the most advanced and capable units that are to be saved up for real emergancies or very important missions, Vipers for normal duty and ground suppert missions and F-50 for trainer/ light fighter air policing and CAS.
Poland dithered too long on more F-16s and is now in the back of the line.

Poland didn’t buy FA-50 to fit alongside their F-35 for no reason.
Poland royally screwed itself with Korean orders - Government kinda bought everything, but with next to NOTHING in terms of parts and logistical support! And Poland bought it, because there's nothing else in the market, and Su-22 and MiG-29s are falling apart.
The trainer is similar to the viper, because it was specifically designed to be a “training viper”
Exactly
6:18 "i bet its like a little sports car" The GE414 is a potential engine option, Same fuel consumption but exponentially more power production
I do not think so. The SFC of F-414 is higher than F-404. F-414 consumes more fuel than F-404 for a given thrust....Strange..... Unless you desperately need 2K more lbf of dry thrust (11,000 for F-404; 13,000 for F-414), there is no need to change the engine.
The F414 is a much bigger engine.
The tested one with an F414 but stuck with the F404 for production.
F-50 will be the spiritual successor to the Northrop F-20 Tigershark. A high-performance, low-cost, low-footprint fighter that is ideal for lower-intensity conflicts, but can be fitted with some of the latest weapons, avionics and sensors. Plug-and-play, modular and adaptable platform with a two-seat sibling to serve as a light-attack and trainer variant.
It's a true "one-size fits all" jet for nations that cannot afford the most advanced fighters like the Super Hornet, F-15EX or F-35. Hell, I'd say its almost a better deal than the F-16V or Gripen E/F! Very impressive to see KAI making massive strides in the last decade. They are really turning into the KIA/Hyundai of the military aerospace world. Innovative, good value, and effective for what they are intended for.
The F 20 had supersonic wing foil and drag-thrust ratios...I am not sure the F 50 was designed for that mission profile...see my specific question above...??
Yep, it's a economy jet when you need something cheaper than a F-16 and JAS-39
JF-17 is the spiritual successor to the F-20 .

Agreed, however, I think that the F-20 was better still, front line capability, no compromise.
@@peekaboopeekaboo1165 pakis not STFU-ing about the JF-17 challenge (impossible)
KAI is already trying to integrate AR/VR training module for TA-50 which is LIFT but easily convert to light combat. This is very cost effective to train combat pilots while using it for CAS mission and aerial patrol. Sure, F-16V and Gripen 39 can do all that too but TA-50 is about 1/3 of the cost, so you can buy more units and keep more combat ready pilots because training and maintaining combat ready pilots is very important.
FYI
TUDM (Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia)
That is Royal Malaysia Air Force in Malay language
It's literally a little Viper. Lockheed owns 20% of the T-50 program, and KAI built F-16s under license in the 1990s.
FA-50 is a combat capable trainer. If they transitioned their entire trainer force to FA-50, it could provide additional reserve combat aircraft for lower intensity missions. The single seat variant could potentially be used as an aggressor for training and a low cost entry level fighter for low budget air forces.
Exactly. Meanwhile Boeing is being its usual incompetent self with the T-7A

I just hope they go with a different canopy design than the thumbnail!😉😋
Rearward visibility is still kinda important.
The KF-21 base model looks like a real good stepping stone civering most air forces's requirements. It could sell really well.
the canopy in the thumbnail was indeed just an early proposal...
later variations of the proposal had the F-50 feature either an F-16, F/A-18, and even an F-35 or KF-21 style canopy (with revised air intakes) which looks really good for any of these versions...
FA-50, the most capable variant based on the T-50 advance trainer aircraft is co-developed with Lockheed Martin from the start actually. Development was funded by South Korean Govt.70%, KAI 17% and Lockheed Martin with 13%. Lockheed Martin provided technical support that's why majority of it's characteristics particularly the FA-50 is the same or similar with F-16 hence the reason some call it baby F-16. Even the silhouette from the top is identical to F-16.

FA-50 is poised to be 21C Northrop F-5E Tiger II. Modern, capable fighter but affordable and cheaper to operate, easy to maintain with high availability. Not as lethal as top-tier modern air-dominance fighters, but capable enough for workhorse fighter, close air support sortie-eater. Also good for fast interceptor for air space defense and scramble; against cruiser missile, drones, attack helicopter, mechanized infantry, etc. Good for modern air force with modest enemies and security threats in medium-intensity conflicts.
This would be a top contender to replace the Mexican Airforce F-5's. Its got a relatively low cost per flight hour with a lot of capability. It would give the Grippen a run for its money once they can offer a single the seat version.

Excellent discussions. Here are my 2 cents;
1. It is a good trainer/ policing/ patrol aircraft regardless of its cost. On too of that, it is cheaper to acquire and operate.
2. It is Nato compatible (Aim9L/X, Aim120D, Meteor, Iris-T and other guided munitions etc). 60-70% parts are interchangeable with F16 and jet engine is F404. This reduces maintenance requirement/ maintenance training. Apparently transiting from FA50 to F16 takes less than 10 hours flight time….
3. It is a great platform to train young/ early pilots and bring them up to speed to simple policing/ patrol duties, increasing training scope and rescuing the number of pilots allocated for mundane, no value added roles. It will have AESA radar, on-board AR training sim, Link16 and can do March1.5
4. In the times of need, it can be used for the second tier priority missions (CAS and other support roles) with 2 Aim120 or Meteor for BVR missions. It also has cheap KGGB (Korean Guided Glide Bomb, similar to JDAm but with range up to 100km), giving a huge boost to precision targeting capabilities.
5. Poland recently received 12 FA50GF within 18(?) or 24 months from signing. The first 3-4 were originally for RoKAF but rest were produced for Poland. This is unbelievable delivery speed, undoubtedly showing the benefit of active production line vis-a-vis reactivating an old line or expanding a new line. KAI is expected to deliver somewhere between 36-56 airframes per year for next 3 years. Unbelievable.
6. When a new FA50 is sold, US benefits from RM’s 15% stake and parts sales (radar, landing gear, weapons etc), UK benefits thru ejection seat sales. It is a win win for many US and her allies industry and war capacity.
I am not a pilot so I am not sure the following sentiment follows, but I'd rather have 20 guys with $500 rifles than 5 guys with $2000 rifles if I were on a budget. I know there are technical considerations in air combat like radar, missiles and ground based infrastructure to support your fleet, but I cannot immagine having a handful of premium airframes is more than national ego.
In terms of technology including armaments, the FA-50 is actually very capable and advance. It's current radar ELM-2032 is rated for BVR engagements. The only downside is it carry less payload and fuel due to it's small size.
philippine fa-50ph was used extensively in airstrike in during marawi attack alongside the OV-10 light bomber
Lockheed earns money every time FA-50 is sold from licensing/tech-assistance.
It looks like if an F-16 and F-18 had a baby.
It is a downsized F-16 with some high quality components.
And an original F/A-18 engine. But, yeah, Horrnet from the mid point forward (side intakes, etc) and Viper in the back. So, it's the mullet of light fighters?
I think the technical stuff and avionics are somewhat related to the F-16 (as it was actually designated as a baby F-16) while it uses the engine from the F-18... You're actually more right than you give yourself credit for.
With small, standoff munitions, this would be an effective replacement for the A-10. This would also be an excellent replacement for advanced lead in jet trainer for the Navy and Marine Corps.
Not for advanced, if they have the intermediate course currently privided by T-38 and in the future by T-7. T-50 is for advanced TACTICAL training. I believe you meant it.
The observation that the FA-50 is a kind of "mini-Viper" is correct. The Koreans loved the F-16 and wanted a smaller and cheaper version. Designating it a trainer was an afterthought and that's pretty clear when you look at how this thing was designed from the ground up. For example, the Koreans wanted it to carry 4 tons of munitions for ground attack roles so it had to have the accompanying airframe to absorb that combat weight. The result was a plane that was more expensive than all the other trainers out there, lol! This is the reason why the Israelis rejected it. They wanted a trainer, not a mini-Viper. The Israeli's praised the T-50 (the trainer variant of the FA-50) and said it was very "Viper-like" but they said it was too much plane for what they needed. This is also why the M-346 Master beat it out initially. Most of the actual overseas customers who buy the T-50 or the FA-50 actually use it not as a dedicated trainer, but as a "lead-in" trainer, so both trainer and combat roles. This is a tremendous value to poorer countries like the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia (all enthusiastic operators of the T-50 / FA-50).
In the 1990s, ADD and KAI under the Korean government proposed cooperation to LM to develop advanced trainers. LM provided background data on the F-16 to KAI, and KAI developed the T-50 based on this. In this process, Korea designed the frame, wing, and cockpit on its own. The reason is that if the parts and designs delivered by LM were accepted as is, the price increase could not be prevented. During this process, there was a conflict with LM. Additionally, KAI holds a joint license for the background technology provided by LM only for the T-50 and its derivatives, and KAI holds a license for the data technology obtained while developing the T-50 and FA-50. In other words, LM receives licensing fees for the background technology it provided to KAI for the development of the T-50 in the past.
In addition, the sales areas of KAI and LM are contractually determined from the beginning, and if the United States adopts the T-50 or its derivatives as a trainer, LM will be responsible for sales. For other countries, KAI is responsible for sales.
I have only one question: What is the maximum speed with AA loadout ( 2x short range + 2x active radar missile) at 20-30 thousand feet? What Mach number? So, is it suitable for peace time "NATO type air policing" / radar intercept + ID + all weather takedown missions?
You only need high subsonic speeds for air policing. The vast majority of peace time policing intercepts are civilian aircraft that are not responsive. They are capable of Mach 1.5 with a viable weapon load but would likely cruise at subsonic for long patrol fuel economy.
@@stupidburp Well, some of the new business jets can fly M=0.93 and ceiling 47 thousand feet...so my question was if it is able to fly that fast/high with AA loadout drag...

RMAF MIG-29 was retired in phase starting 2015. FA-50 was a replacement for Hawk 208. Not sure if there'll be replacement for MIG-29. Once, RMAF did evaluated several fighters like F/A-18E superhornet and Eurofighter Typhoon. But the plan was put on hold due to financial constrain.
Frankly, I be more interested in a land base variant of F/A-18E, devoid of all the carrier operation necessities like reinforce undercarriage, catapult bar, reinforce airframe etc. Imagine the extra perfromance gain without those weight.
Rebuilding the superhornet without that stuff would be cost-prohibitive which is why no hornet/superhornet customer has done it.
Several customers have opted out of the hook and bar.

hi Guys, you could share your assessment Grippen vs FA-50. Looks like similar size, similar engine, yet Grippen is considered a serious contender, when FA50 rother an upgraded trainer. How do you see that?
Gripen is also used as a trainer by some. They are both small and relatively inexpensive to operate. FA-50 is cheaper to acquire. Gripen has a higher level of performance. Depends on what you are looking for and what your budget is but they are both capable of both roles.
@@stupidburp I thought, there is some good engineering in Greepen, which makes it superior, like the canard configuration means less drag and short take off, shape of fuselage end (behind the elevators) further reduces the drag, making it more fuel efficient and faster compared to FA50. And apparently the real magic is in electronic warfare, which is top of the top. I'm checking what others think about it. RUclipsr Millenium7 believes Grippen is in many ways superb aircraft.
I see the reduction and see increasing fuel or weapons loadout. Good call.
Malaysia have jet fighters 18 Su-30,8 FA 18 hoenet D,Hawk 208,108,36 unit,MiG-29 18 grouded and Amernea fighter from italy
Argentina had A4’s during the Falklands War.
we still have, a modernized version of A-4M with F-16 and F-18 avionics including a smaler APG-66 radar called A-4AR
The best combination of fighter jets for Malaysia is undoubtedly the FA-50 and KF-21. With just two weeks of job training, pilots can transition between these two aircraft, making the switch highly efficient. The KF-21 stands out as the highest-performing among 4.5th generation fighters, and it's expected to feature the most advanced electronic warfare systems. This makes it an optimal weapon for countering threats from China.
You know, I sat on a singe seat once. Still got the scars... and the nightmares.
I love the single seat faction comments 😂 Replace the a$$ with gas. (All respect to the back seat guys and gals, it just rhymed, and I was referring to the body part not the type of personality a back seater has.)
I like that there are some friendly countries making “cheap” military jets. They may potentially be great options for a “loyal wingman” type jet in the future.
In a heavy EW environment, local control of wingman drones is probably prudent. That means a new job for the back seat.
The FA-50 is amazing. It's the companion to the TA-50 Golden Eagle. Originally the idea was for the Golden Eagle to be a T-35, T-38 replacement and the FA-50 to be the F-5,A-37 replacement. Years ago I saw the original models in a FIDAE airshow. The FA-50 was expected to have a one seater version from the begining, but since it started to eat the TA-50s market, it was abandoned, so they must already have the groundwork ready. There was a ground attack only version that did not gather interest. The TA-50 and FA-50 are enough for everybody. There is also a version with no radar for the Korean acrobatic team.
The FA-50 is already battle proven by the Philipines. They used it for CAS during the Marawi siege. Probably this helped sell the plane to Malasya.
Apart from US technical assistance, the Koreans were helped by engineers from the Chung Kuo Indigenous Defense Fighter of Taiwan. This plane is really a modern F-5 and is winning sales beating all the other light jets like the Tejas, the Pakistani/Chinese fighter , the NG Grippen, the ALCA and the fighter version of the Leonardo Master. In the near future it will compete with the fighter version of the Red Hawk and the new light fighter from Turkey that was offered to Malasya. But KAI has a very good hold on the market.
Yep, the Turkish light jet is possibly DoA on the export market now.
Sooner or later, FA-50 may not be 99% detected by radar.🤣
In times of war, trainer airplane must also participate in the war.
The maintenance cost per hour is only $3500.
I want to see a stealth light combat aircraft. It would be so cool. And also cheap.

TUDM's ageing fleet of BAe Hawk 200 twin seaters and Hawk 100 single seaters are due for retirement. While the current purchase of the twin seat FA-50 would do very well to replace the Hawk 100, it's only logical for KAI to offer a single seat version as the natural replacement for the Hawk 200. If the working relationship with KAI goes well, there's every possibility for the company to also pitch the upcoming KF-21 as the logical replacement for TUDM's retired MiG-29 fleet. It simplifies the logistics for both fleets of aircraft. The FA-50 is a gateway jet of sorts, allowing KAI to put its foot in the door in Malaysia.
It has been announced that their SU-30MKM will continue to serve for a few more decades, especially now that India has offered to assist with the maintenance, parts supply and upgrading of the jet (they're planning to install the Irbis E radar in theirs, among others). However Malaysia has not been able to bolster its small fleet of F/A-18s after the Kuwaitis decided not to sell off theirs. But since Malaysia has invested rather heavily in upgrading its airframes, they are likely to soldier on as well.
KAI is in a unique position that is aligned with Malaysia's neutrality policy that walks the middle path between the West and the rising power of China.
I'm lobbying Congress for a three seat F-16. I think we need to have them! 🤪

@@wsafd So single seat FA-50 = F-50? Right?
Go FA-50!!!!
How fast could all of our trainers be ready for war?
FA-50은 전투기 제작을 위한 연습이었을뿐이고 한국은 이제 KF-21 전투기를 만든다. 조만간 대량생산 들어간단다, 얘들아.
In the Vietnam era, a lot of returning F-4 pilots were saying, "Give me five F-5s instead of one F-4. Stalin said, "Quantity has a quality all of its own." He was proven right on the Eastern Front. The inferior Sherman in enormous numbers proved overwhelming against German Tigers. Lessons learned and forgotten?
Philippine need 2 Squadron FA-50
Such a hot aircraft it might singe me 🙃
long range single seat "KAI F-50 Harpy Eagle"
developing a grade that can beat F-16V/Rafale/Eurofighter in the air
F-50 Harpy Eagle equipt HANHWA AESA radar
the goal is to develop GE 414 engine's future F-20 Tigershark
They can craft out a prettier single seater than to just blank out the rear seat. KAI, you can do better.
Its a mini-F-16
with an AI back seater.. makes sense to me
Four years to convert a two seater to a single seater is more than enough time!!. Additionally, remember the FA-50 is basically a "bastardized" F-16, a lot of components and body sections are from the F-16 parts bin. KF-21 was also developed with alot of help of Lockheed Martin and using many US components including the Avionocs and powerplant.
I heard 70-80% parts in FA-50 are from F16.
You are right that many parts of KF-21 are from the US. You are NOT with regard to the avionics. It is developed indigenously. An avioinics for a fighter is the heart and brain. Even with T-50 and FA-50, where LM has a sizable share, the avionics is under South Korean control, which means South Korea can upgrade it to their taste, as long as LM gives permission. (pls forgive me use South Korea and KAI with identical meaning. KAI is a virtual state-owned enterprise and the DoD and the Air Force are their patron.)
Majority of the parts on the KF-21 is Korean made.
Complete hogwash
Maybe Mexico and Ireland can have some jets again.
That’s a goofy looking cockpit on the single pilot version.
Ito nalang mas mura single crew and mach 2 engine with advance avionic
Doesn't the US operate the F-5?
Just saying. 🤣
Filipino fighter jet pilot say, Fox 2 F-22 right turn kill.!
Perfect to Latin american style aircraft
it looks like a parts bin plane.
According to Northrup, so is the B21. Using as many existing components as feasible is a good thing.
This is all they need to dominate North Korea. They only need the F-35 Borimae variant in case someone else supplies North Korea with modern jets.
The FA-50 is relevant because in 10-15 years these will be pumped out as autonomous air defense.
No. South Korean is NOT entitled to do that. Since LM(Lockheed Martin) has a sizable share and since GE provides the engine, the drone version would be an export of technololgy/parts for a high-end ARMED drone. This is forbidden by MTCR.
By the way, South Korea is working on indigenous high-end drones with indigenous engines and parts. For example, MQ-9 kike long endurance drones with poweful sensors are in the stage of 'production'. 1,200 hp turbo prop engine, which is 30% more powerful than MQ-9's. The body size is almost 80% larger. The max take off weight is about 25% heavier.
The US exports ISR MQ-9s to some countries, but not to SK, since the former does not want to provoke China. And the US does not export ARMED MQ-9s to any country because of MTCR.
In addition, the South Korean version of CCAs (something like Ghost Bat or Valkyrie) is coming out soon. The South Korean version of RQ-170 or RQ-180 is coming out too. Here, we are doing this (making something not exportable thanks to MTCR,unless they are strictly for ISR only) because of China.
The existential interset of South Korean in resisting China is the corner stone of the alliance between South Korea and the US.
Ganky Malaysia is a small country, you are safe for time being but please don't make same mistake about Indonesia.
but you got to defend against china or nokor

Israelis prefer 2 seaters for ground attack.
2 seaters are also good for local control of wingman drones and electronic warfare systems.
FA 50 is a light fighter can't be a suitable replacement for su 30

Still waiting on delivery in volume. Few Mk1 in service now and Mk1A is not relevant until delivered.
@@stupidburp ok but can watch it's 1st flight 🛫 of 18 minutes and visible change in its physical design
Boeing Red Hawk is also a badly designed jet. Too many problems and flight test issues. Hope nobody buys that shit !!.
Nice intel , 1st here
Not a good looking jet. If it doesn't look good, it doesn't fly good.
Why don't you guys react to the jf-17 block 3 - an impressive 4.5 generation fighter jet that has a powerful AESA radar, a helmet mounted display, and a 3 axis-fly by wire system?
I would love your reaction to that and Pakistan's overall air force strength (including their armed drones and missiles).
Already did

Screw these human inhabited warplanes, I'm interested in your guys take on the uninhabited F16s that have never lost a merge and have made the human opponents cry and complain like my ex-wife... This is mature tech, they've been doing these sims for at least 2 years now. I'm completely expecting the F16s flying in Ukraine to have uninhabited cockpits too, cause are there really enough vets and NATO pilots silly enough to fly into Russia AD? No refueling possibilities, nothing to support them. That's crazy, imo.
But, maybe I'm missing something, and I am curious about your guys takes on your AI replacements without the movie hyoe, ignorance of the movie makers and need to recruit ppl into the military of _Stealth_ (2005).
QF-50 could be a future possibility. Use the parts for conversion of F-16 into optionally manned QF-16. Then you have a cost effective air combat drone.
@@stupidburp The combat sims and proof of concept have been proven. I honestly wonder why the whole salesmanship about training Ukrainian pilots to fly the F16s or any other plane when the minimum as I understand it to be beginning combat effective is 3 years.
I wonder if either of these guys can speak to this minimum training period. Idk what restrictions they have with sharing their thoughts that may affect ongoing operations...
Man, I'm now fighting my autocorrect... So apologies if I missed some changes.
Personally I think that sending some QF-16 to Ukraine for combat would be a good option. Help extend training of school graduates on the job without risking pilot lives. They could fly them remotely for cruise missile strike missions far away from enemies at first and gradually get closer to hostile forces in missions as they gain experience. If EW breaks control links, the AI now seems potentially capable enough to continue mission or at least return to base.
@@stupidburp From what I've read about the Reapers and the sleepers operating them in Nevada, the couple second delay would make remote piloting the F16s in actual combat, not striking sandals in deserts, not practicable. The F16s are like flying a Santa Claus sleigh passed children Christmas night before they all go to sleep. The Russia AD would see them farther away than even the tankers that are required to refuel them could extend their reach or return to Poland or Romania... Ok, Ukrainian airfields none of which are operational or can maintain the F16s. I wonder how much it will take to get F16 maintenance crews to work inside Ukraine after all the Patriot crews have been killed... So back to Poland and Romania... Not like those countries haven't been active participants in the war from the start.
To me, I think the AI pilot is mature, so that's my best guess, because after the first half dozen human pilots get shot out of the sky from 300km away, there won't be any more NATO retired or active pilot takers.
Furthermore, the AI pilots can fly the plane to its mechanical limits, not their former human limits, so may even be more survivable, I'm honestly curious how far SkyNet (a real military program, but for something else, kinda) has come.
Ideally it should be capable of both remote human piloting and AI piloting. Human operators are essential for integrating with civilian and military aircraft. An AI isn’t going to be trusted with traveling through the airspace of numerous countries on the way to a mission area. It also won’t be entirely trusted to give weapons use authorization on its own. Human babysitter is still prudent for as long as communications can be maintained.
Booo, WSOs are much more valuable
Turkey chose same way and developing Hurjet which is really similliar with FA-50.
So... when is the first flight?
