That's a great project, I love the SNOT roads and the elevation changes. We don't see them that often. Great video also, the editing is on point. Do you plan on making the layout modular (divisible into sub sections) ? That would make the transport and display at exhibitions much easier, and need to be thought before starting building.
Your mini layout shows how smart Lego is designed. 5 bricks are as high (ignoring the studs) as 6 bricks are wide. Divided by 3, 5 plates are as high (again, ignoring the studs) as 2 bricks are wide. A brick resting sideways on the studs of the baseplate is as high as a bricks standing upright on the baseplate (you guessed it, ignoring the studs). You can tel I am a Lego Technic guy.
Admittedly the idea behind the sloped road and the railroad crossing was kind of cool. First time I've seen that idea. I'll have to use it for inspiration if I ever get around to a city.
I had a lego city when I was a kid at my grandparents house it had its own table and everything just for it. But one day my sister let two kids she was babysitting come over and play with it and they took everything apart and destroyed the whole city. I was so devastated I never had the will power to try and put it back together plus alot of the parts were missing and so were the instructions.

Very good way to organize a downtown. But very costly in bricks too... I do my best with standard road base plates, and I connect the different buildings accordingly. For example, for Police Station, the base plate are already included as well as modulars.
YES! finally someone does it right. With a fine, black outline and buildings the roads himself (instead of using baseplates)! That is how you build a good city MOC.
Can you make a video on how to make the road you used here and how to attach it to the sidewalk please? Thank you. I love the way the road looks, and I've never seen or thought of using the studs not on top method for building roads. Thanks again
