Needed to do a Transmission Fluid change on my wife's 15 Acura MDX. Didn't want to remove the metal pan protecting the transmission and transfer case so I did a DIY hack.
Hey guys, I have an 05 mdx that seems like it's in limp mode. It starts great idles great yer will not exceed 1800 rpm without bogging out. I've done the following: Replaced: Alternator Fuel pump Air filter All O2 sensors Plugs Coil packs ECG valve Bank 1&2 cats (not rear, yet) running outta money.... Any suggestions?
This was the quick tip on draining the fluid, not the full tranny fluid job. You need the other video that walks through the tranny fluid change step by step, including how I re-fill the tranny fluid.
@@ΜΟΛΩΝΛΑΒΕ_1776 wow, hope mine doesn't come to that, as I'm completely out of powertrain warranty. Let me ask you M, was your "slipping" every single time you accelerated or was it like, every 3 to 5 times you took off from a standing start? Thanks.
Great tip of putting plate with pan
Kool tip
Aluminum foil works great as well
Good idea. Thanks for sharing
Found out that Aisin (OEM trans builder) has a proper fluid that might be a cheaper substitute for Honda DW1. AISIN ATFDW1 = $5.50 or so per quart.
Great tip. This will save some time if we are not changing the transfer case fluid! :)
How often do you change your transmission fluid?
Thanks for stopping by. I try to do it every 25-30K miles.

What’s the name of that video
@@annmeadows1581 There is a link at the 27 second mark in the video, but you can find it here ruclips.net/video/ncoYXAgUCl4/видео.html
These dipsticks are a pain to read correctly. I followed proper procedure but still has too many streaks.
Yes, especially with fresh fluid, it is really hard to see where the fluid is on the stick.
@@RoughRidersTV Is there a dipstick on a 2016 FWD?
@@ofcbob6391 I don't know as I've never worked on one. I think there is but without having one in front of me, I don't know for sure.
Mine has slipping issues.
My 2016 FWD as well. Did you ever get a "drain and fill" done? If you did, what was your mileage...and has it improved the transmission performance?
@@ofcbob6391 we replaced the trans.

@@ofcbob6391 Mine slept more when the transmission was cold, but when it warmed up it wasn’t slipping as much
