For those of us who do not live anywhere near a concert hall, or couldn't afford the tickets even if there was one, this is a Godsend. What a special gift to be able to sit and listen and watch this magnificent performance . The genius of Beethoven is an eternal blessing. Thanks to all who made this video possible. Oh, and also... that concert hall is absolutely gorgeous. 🎵🎵🎵
I here in Brazil listening once again to this ninth symphony! As I believe in many lives this composition by Beethoven was already ready in another dimension, the most beautiful composition by Beethoven, God is
Beethoven??, my goodness, l first heard him when l was about 15 yrs of age, he saved me from my life. Soo beautiful memories, when my family life was bad l would go and to my room and listen to my record so no one could hear. Thank you Beethoven 🥰
Picking up my conductor's baton right now ready to conduct this most heavenly chorale....I keep reminding myself Beethoven was completely deaf when he composed and conducted the first ever performance of his magnificent Symphony #9
This is a Glorious and Moving performance of this well known Symphony. As always with the Danish National Symohnoy Orchestra, the Photography, Video editing and sound balance are absolutly surperb. Truely magnificent
Brilliant! The conductor is so fantastic, almost like he wrote the piece himself. I really love it when they focus on filming the whole orchestra, it really helps during these times. People working together to produce beautiful music really lifts the spirits.
I love this rendition of the master work. Controlled, not rushed at all. And the soloists are amazing. Kudos to the Maestro and the sound engineers too.
Thank you mr. Kubrick for introducing this to me. "It had been a wonderful evening and what I needed now, to give it the perfect ending, was a little of the Ludwig Van."
I think probably the person filming these should get some credit too as they always seem to be where the action is and it really is much better than some recordings of other symphonies where it's like sitting in front of them so you mostly see the violins and the back of the conductor. It adds something to it so good job.
The reason its so good is that DR is the danish equivalent to BBC. Its our danish radio and tv public service channel. They have broadcasted concerts to tv and radio for over 50 years 😊😊😊
I love that the conductor, Maestro Frübeck de Burgos had no score in front of him for any of these symphonies. That's the first time I've seen that. RIP, sir.
Thanks for noticing. I hadn’t noticed that particular aspect of this entire cycle. The only other conductor to do that to the best of my memory was Arturo Toscanini.
This is by far my favorite piece of classical music. It is stunning and gorgeous and I wish I could have been in the audience for its very first opening night. Barring that, I wish I could hear it again for the first time. Nothing else sounds like this and it is so powerful that the 4th movement, especially the choral sections always bring me to tears. It is what I hope and imagine Heaven sounds like. Just pure joy and hope and every wonderful feeling of celebration.
every comprehensive review of the 9th will acknowledge that at some point one finds one's self lifted out of one's body and propelled out among the stars.....there was a time when the New Mexico Symphony Orchestra was this good, and when they played the 9th i would stand at the very back of the hall and conduct, weeping copiously throughout the whole thing.
Fantastico 👏👏♥️♥️ The only nitpick I'd give the whole series is I would like to have seen more of the audience reaction at the end of all these works. Otherwise, here's a collection of the greatest symphonies ever written that I can enjoy over and over again. Many many thanks for this act of benevolence 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Beethoven's 9th symphony has got to be my favorite of all. I love the Danish National Symphony, especially their rendition of various motion picture scores but I think my favorite music body that does this specific symphony would have to be the Chicago Symphony under Riccardo Muti but still: Bravo!
The soloists are: sopran- Albina Shagimuratova, mezzosopran- Charlotte Hellekant, Tenor- Scott McCallister, Bass- Johan Reuter ❤ its actually stated in the beginning, albeit very fast 😊
What a performance! Meanwhile I know every musican in this orchestra on this channel and his/her facial expression! What a gift this channel is! Try to upload in 4k for the future, cause that allows a lesser compression rate with the sound too, more dynamic and hifi!
I know youre all here for this 58:41 Freude, schoner Gotterfunken, Tochter aus Elysium, Wir betreten feuertrunken, Himmlische, dein Heiligtum. Deine Zauber binden wieder Was die Mode streng geteilt, Alle Menschen werden Bruder, Wo dein snfter Flugel weilt.
I mean, i love this. This is prime symphonic all around. However i cannot connect to any of the Beethoven symphonies. I understand they represent stuff of their time, but i don't know what it is about. Can anyone point me in the right direction here somehow? Thanks.
The Ninth Symphony is a timeless work. The titanic first movement depicts struggle and despair; the second movement is fiery; the third movement is gorgeous, almost like falling in love for the first time. After an angry beginning, the fourth movement becomes a triumphant hymn to Joy ("Joy! [Freude!] Bright daughter of Elysium! .... All men become brothers, Where your gentle wings abide.") In the slow section, the mood suddenly turns majestic, as Beethoven proclaims the heavenly Father above the stars. He repeats the phrase "Be embraced, you millions! This kiss is for the whole world!" over and over again.
The conductor, de Burgos, doesn't work well for me. His conducting style seems imprecise and somewhat disconnected. He lacks interpretive gestures and guidance. There is no magic in his baton. His age and/or health may be a contributing issue. When the conductor needs a chair to sit down when needed, he generally will lack the energy and vitality to bring out the best in the orchestra. The orchestra does relatively well in spite of the lack of inspiration from the rostrum.

Some of the most beautiful music ever composed in human history.
I keep reminding myself Beethoven was completely deaf when he composed and conducted the first ever performance of his magnificent Symphony #9
Danish National Symphony Orchestra at DR Koncerthuset is absolutely magnificent.
I got goosebumps listening to this. The perfect storm...composer, orchestra, conductor and camerawork.
well put
What a Beethoven's original sounds recreated by Brugos/DR symphony! I am totally mesmerized now.
Picking up my conductor's baton right now ready to conduct this most heavenly chorale....I keep reminding myself Beethoven was completely deaf when he composed and conducted the first ever performance of his magnificent Symphony #9
The third movement is divine. Love the tempo, not too slow, not too fast. Bravo Raphaël ! Rest in Peace
it's criminal to rush this piece.

One of the most communicative conductor I have ever seen. Bravo to the sound engineers.
Really ?? He seems Kinda grumpy to me

They work hard. I have to believe they enjoy it as much as we do. Words just don't and can't measure up to what they do, can they

I think that credit should go to the stage planner and the editor, there's a number of cameras at different angles and in different places.
One of the reasons this channel is ridiculously good
