    I had a slight interest in these guys ever since I started covering Victory kits, so I picked one up before I left for the UK. However, from trying something ambitious for 1993, the quality of the kit took a noticeable hit, mostly from the V-Frame and horrible stickers. While it is a far cry from the other 90s kits like Fighting Action Wing EW or Turn A kits, it is for sure satisfying to look at after putting in the effort.

      @@mj2005gundam They're really cute, and how they were designed is also interesting. The idea was to return to the classic 300 yen price point to appeal to younger kids which were the target audience of Victory (crazy it may sound), but due to market expectations with color accuracy and such they had to increase the price to make them viable. Still, they pulled off some clever tricks with the shared polycap frame runners and clear beam/stand runner which were quite impressive for their time but haven't aged quite so gracefully.

      For something called Gun-EZ, it sure isn't easy to find one of these. That said, I wanna try out some of the more peculiar ones from the line as well, particularly the Shokew and Abigor

  • @Dr.SamCarterPhD
    @Dr.SamCarterPhD Месяц назад +3

    I absolutely love this lineup of kits, but you pretty much addressed all the issues exactly. The plastic is horrifically prone to nubs, especially using the very unique fold-over gimmick (there's a reason it wasn't brought back despite the ingenuity); The softer plastic for the frame is also susceptible to nubs, and those hands do NOT look good; The stickers do NOT stick at all. But on the other hand, it's a quick and easy build that's begging beginner painters to touch up something pretty simple, and the included effects (curved beam saber!) and stand/backdrop are super cool to have as well.
    I do recommend grabbing a few more from the line! They'll all be a roughly equivalent experience but it is an enjoyable one to me at least.

    • @kidrobot.

      i feel like the fold-over gimmick could work for the 30 minute missions line

      Funny, I've thought of grabbing the Jamesgun just for kicks. Though I ran out of space before the move. I do wanna grab that and a few others that we never got modern 1/144 kits of at some point though, like the bug-eyed units. The issues of this kit though is what suffering from old engineering looks like

  • @allenusison3124
    @allenusison3124 Месяц назад +2

    One, it really needs a proper HG kit, stat. Heck, make it a Gun Blaster so that you can convert it back to the Gun EZ later. And b, if anyone is impatient to want this thing, you gotta invest a lot on not just paint, but multiple Option Hands (whether it's the Build Fighters, Build Divers, or Option Parts Set releases) to give this damn thing proper hands.

    • @mj2005gundam
      @mj2005gundam  Месяц назад +1

      Yep, this is what an old kit suffering from old engineering really looks like, not for most kits that are 10+ years old (since 2020s) like you-know-who loves to claim. If they can make parts ingeniously, then it might work. But knowing how modern Gunpla is constructed, the possibilities of that gimmick coming back are slim to none.

    • @RaiJolt2
      @RaiJolt2 Месяц назад

      @@mj2005gundam Yeah even though I like old hg kits and appreciete them (except you gelgoog marine for constantly shattering on me) they are a massive step up compared to older no grade 1/144 kits. There are kits from 2003-5 that have better elbows than kits a decade later! Overall though joint solidity seems to be bandai's major difficulty with kits, as it seems that aspect has always been wildly inconsistent, even within the kits themselves. From the dom's hands crumbling to the looseness of the grassley suits elbows to whatever happened with the revive zaku's second wrist thing, despite 90% of the kit being rock rolid.
