    ATTENTION: It has been pointed out to me that this video can be interpreted that DK Custom Products is endorsing or recommending that you/anyone/someone should use a Rear Tire Reversed, when it clearly states on rear tires that they should be used for rear wheels only. Everyone should do their research, and make their own informed decision.
    This video is simply showing what I have been doing on my Trikes, and why.
    Sort of like the video I made about putting titanium on my floorboards to make sparks...you can see that video, with the disclaimers in it here- ruclips.net/video/yWc_nI-mHa8/видео.html

      It makes sense to run a rear tire reversed on the trike but was curious if the dealer would be willing to install it that way.

      I'm a pretty aggressive trike rider, taken a few sharp curves way to fast. I was wandering about the new grip of a softer tire on the front. Any opinions on that?

    I realize this is an older video, about 2 years ago but I am here to tell you that I took Kevin’s advice and researched and had a dealership install a rear tire reversed on my 2019 Trike. They even asked me to sign a wavier to not hold them responsible for any problems. I got almost 14k miles out of the OEM tire, most of my mileage is straight AZ interstate riding. Well, you can believe me or not, your choice, but I’m now getting ready to replace the front tire again that still has 4/32” tread depth, and a little over 38K miles on it. Thanks for the heads up Kevin. 👍🏻

    I just put on the front of my 2019 Indian CSC the 4th tire.
    It's a Michelin
    Commander II a flatter service on the road.
    After 1000 mi,
    A noticeable better ride no slide yet there was some slide in curves with front tire.
    60 lbs more gross weight,
    Better braking.
    All tread is on pavement thick side wall

      Dyna beads are beads that go in the tire to help dynamically balance the tire. The front tire that Kevin runs on his Trike is the tire in this video, Dunlop American Elite.

    Avon makes a front tire for trikes only. It is larger then those that come on both harley Davidson and goldwings. More expensive, but the ride is better. Very nice tire.

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  2 года назад

      Yes. I ran an Avon Front Tire for Trike. It was a great tire, as good, or better than a rear tire reversed. Great life, great traction. I would have run another one, but they discontinued the one I ran and replaced it with an "upgraded" model. Well, about 50% of the folks I talked to had a good experience with the upgraded Avon, but about 50% had a bad experience....vibration that they could not get rid of. I did not want to take that chance, so went with a proven tire...one that has virtually no negative reports.

    I just read some info on Bias - Radial. Goldwings. I kept seeing " GL1500's and back, it is not a radial Tire bike. I noticed the statements all say, Bias ply are Goldwing tires, Not radials. Just came across a point I have not seen before though. that requirement was made back when there were no radial in the sizes that any goldwings take when they started making them as far back as 1100's and they never bothered to change that all the way up till they made GL1800's which have radials/ LOL makes sense to me, super popular bike , probably the most bikes on the road for the longevity - some kind of deal with tire companies maybe?

    I know this is an old thread but I'm still hoping to get some advice. I have a 2016 Road Glide CVO Ultra limited with a front tire of 130 - 80 - 17. Every time I put in that number, comes up as a front tire. No rear tire for that size. What tire would you recommend to put up front for my trike conversion?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Месяц назад

      As noted in the pinned comment to this video, we cannot recommend putting a rear tire up front, we can only share what Kevin has done on his Trike, and why.
      IF we had your conversion the first thing we would do is a google search for 17" rear tires. Here is one link that come up from Harley when doing that search.
      www.harley-davidson.com/us/en/shop/t/17-inch-rear-tire?format=json;i=1;locale=en_US;q1=17-inch-rear-tire;sp_cs=UTF-8;x1=primaryCategoryCode
      None of them are 130's, so if we wanted to use the 150 in the above link, we would measure the fender and make sure it fits. We could also do a search for 130 rear tires...but those are pretty narrow for a rear tire, so the pickings may be slim or none.
      If the fender is narrow to fit the 130, then a rear tire may not be possible. But if it is the standard width front fender, then a 160 should fit.
      Hope that helps. 👍😎👍 KP

    What happened to your Avon front tire ?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  3 года назад +1

      It was on my '14 and I loved it. On the '19 I wanted to put another one on, but they discontinued it, replacing it with a newer version. Unfortunately a lot of folks are not having a good experience with the newer Avon. (vibration) I did not want to take a chance, so went with the American Elite Rear tire reversed.

      We run all our tires (except the rear tires on a Trike, because they are automobile tires) at the PSI listed on the sidewall of the tire.

    Do you mount the tire according to the arrows on the tire and rotor, then just reverse it when you mount it back on the trike?

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  3 года назад +3

      The wheel should not be mounted reversed on the bike. When a rear tire is mounted on the front wheel reversed, it is the tire that is reversed on the wheel, not the wheel on the Trike.

Car tire beads are different, as are the sidewall construction. So, I believe "darksideing" a rear tire could be life threatening. But those functions are different on a trike

      Installed wrong, or something defective about the tire. Unfortunately it does happen that tires can have a defect or be out of round when new.
      I would inspect the tire carefully and see if there are any high spots or bulges. Also put it in the air and spin it to see if the tire place installed the tire correctly...centered on the wheel.

    What tire do you recommend for the tri glide 2022

    • @DKCustomProducts
      @DKCustomProducts  Год назад

      As per the pinned comment in this video-
      ATTENTION: It has been pointed out to me that this video can be interpreted that DK Custom Products is endorsing or recommending that you/anyone/someone should use a Rear Tire Reversed, when it clearly states on rear tires that they should be used for rear wheels only. Everyone should do their research, and make their own informed decision.
      This video is simply showing what I have been doing on my Trikes, and why.
      So, I will not make a recommendation to run a rear tire reversed, BUT, If I were to need another new front tire on my Tri Glide today, I would go with the same one in this video, It is a rear tire, a 130/90 B16 73H Dunlop American Elite. I have also run the Michelin Commander II rear tire, same size as above, and would not hesitate to run it either.
