  • This video is about the hardest things we go through as a dog breeder: The death of a puppy, and the retirement of our dogs. We love deeply with all of our dogs and with each and every one of our puppies. For us, it's the only way. We are entrusted to raise a new family member for our families and anytime you open yourself up to love so deeply you run the risk of being heart broken. This happened recently. We lost a puppy. We also are going to be retiring Gemma and it's hard to say goodbye.

Yes. We try our best to be honest with people. We have lots of people that watch our channel now that are also breeding dogs. Not necessarily Springers but could be another breed.

I'm always sad when I lose a pet. 😥 Gemma is such a beauty. It looked like she did not like the puppies to go near the longer grass and led them back to the lawn. Such a good mom. I can see why you would miss her. How is your Springer, Holly doing?

Hi Sherry! Thanks for the comment. Yes Gemma is a sweetheart and so so sweet. Holly was rehomed :-)

@@OSheaSpringers Hi Jamie. We’re all good including our new puppy O’Dell. He’s a liver and white English Springer Spaniel, 5 months old soon. He’s so sweet and loves to cuddle. He’s a real Velcro pup and we just love him. All the best to your family. 🙋‍♀️💕💕💕

Sorry about your loss. It is never easy to take.
My wife is a veterinarian and has to do euthanasia’s quite frequently. I admire her for being able to detach from the emotional component and do what is best for the animal. These are all peoples beloved pets and it is very hard job to do, in my opinion. 😞 so sad

Yes that must be so hard. Thank you to your wife for doing a hard job that not just anyone can do. You have to be very compassionate to be able to do that. I heard it said that the majority of pet owners aren't wanting to be in with their pet when they have to go... that is so sad! Is that your wife's experience as well?

    • @tractortalkwithgary1271

@@OSheaSpringers Actually, I would have to say that most pet owners do want to be there to say their goodbyes. Many bring their children and it is a very sad time for all. Not all of the euthanasias go well either. Some of the animals are so emaciated that the vets are not able to find a vein.
They usually drug the pet into a deep sleep and then give them something to stop the heart and the animal passes quickly, quietly, and humanely.
My wife has authored a couple books and tells shares some fascinating experiences and some absolute heartbreaks.

Always enjoy your videos and appreciate you sharing the good and the difficult. My 6-month old Springer loves your videos too. She was was mesmerized by this one and wanted to play with those puppies so badly!

That's fantastic about your springer watching the videos. We get lots of pictures of our past puppies sitting in front of the screen listening to the videos as well. We think they recognize our voices. Thanks for watching!
