I have the Stika SMU jacket in multicam, I love it. Very light and warm for the weight. I think wearing it under a windshirt of a soft shell is wear it shines.
Just picked it up! Super excited to try it out!! People say this is replacing the midi? I've never had one but from what I here it's got some shoes to fill
Trying to decide on the full zip or the hoody. I bow hunt whitetail primarily, but also elk archery, so trying to decide which one might be best for hiking, and able to take on and off quickly, yet warm enough when stationary. Thanks for the reviews.
@toddshumaker2715 you bet! Yeah, both are great...the full zip.is nicer for taking off and on though. I do like having the hood as well. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the review. If I recall, you said the ambient jacket fit you in an XL. Do I have that right? And you are a 44 in the chest. How about the hoody? Would you still wear an XL in that jacket?
Awesome! Yeah, it's certainly pricey! I used it a lot as an outer layer throughout archery season, then as a mid layer as temps have dropped. It's worked really well so far. Thanks for watching!
Hey there Carlos! I think that would be a bit too warm for most early season situations. Those are two completely opposite pieces in that the Traverse doesn't breathe well at all, and the Ambient is an active insulation piece. It would work though depending on what you were wanting to do. The Traverse is on the fitted side as well...keep that in mind. Thanks for watching!
Would you say that the Ambient hoody replaces the heavyweight hoody as a mid layer? Seems like it would breathe better and possibly wick moisture better as well.
Hey there! I wouldn't say the it replaces the Heavyweight hoody as the Heavyweight hoody serves a different purpose. The Heavyweight hoody doesn't breathe very well, but is much better at blocking some wind. Any breeze rips right through the Ambient, so if it's windy out, you'd want a wind break with the Ambient. I'd say they are similar in warmth, but the Ambient is much much better as an active piece, whereas the Heavyweight isn't very good when active. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
Yeah, they would be good for some brush, but I wouldn't take them through heavy brush. I'd say they seem more durable and tear resistant than the Aerolight puffy though.
@@steventurner83 thanks! I haven't yet had the chance to test out Stone Glacier gear, but hope to soon! I'll certainly put together some content when that happens. Thanks for watching!
Hey there Kelley! Great question. The Ambient hoody is much warmer and breathes exponentially better, but is not nearly as good in the wind. The wind cuts right through the Ambient collection, whereas the Heavyweight Hoody doesn't breathe very well and cuts the wind a lot better. I love both pieces, but they are very different in function. Hiking in the Heavyweight Hoody gets hot fast if the temps aren't very cold. Thanks for watching!
@@dajahvue yeah, I can understand that. It's definitely meant to be an ultralight piece, and like you said, very warm for it's weight, but durability is usually sacrificed. I haven't had any issues with durability yet after using it this last season, but we'll see long term.

Hey there! I actually wear a LG in both, and that fits well in both. The hoody fits a touch tighter though. Thanks for watching!
I ended up getting a celcius midi for 130$ on sale because Of this jacket. I like the idea of it but 300$ is wild for a mid layer
Awesome! Yeah, it's certainly pricey! I used it a lot as an outer layer throughout archery season, then as a mid layer as temps have dropped. It's worked really well so far. Thanks for watching!
How has the durability been with this piece? Can you wear a pack and bino harness without destroying the face fabric?
So far it's been good through one full season of use. I'll certainly use it again this season though! Thanks ka for watching!
Any chances you still have the ambient hoody in pyrite and would be willing to sell it? I can’t find it anywhere.
Hey there! I do still have it, but unfortunately not looking to sell it. Thanks though!
Could I Layer the ambient jacket under the newer traverse hoody for early to midseason?

@@BackwoodsPursuitThank you that’s very helpful 👍
@@Cyclone546 any time!
I can utilize the kelvin down, a base layer, and ambient in temps down to zero with a waterproof shell
Awesome! Yeah, those are all awesome pieces! Thanks for watching!
Would you ambient jacket be ok walking through some brush or will it get snagged up and tear.

I got the 1/4 zip with hood, I wish the full zip had a hood.
Agreed! I wish the full zip had a hood as well. I'm gonna bet that eventually comes out! Thanks for watching!
@@BackwoodsPursuit I’m also hoping that they come out with solid colors for the apex top and bottom.
@@steventurner83 for sure! That would be awesome!

How would you compare the Ambient Hoody to the Core Heavyweight Hoody?

Good job
Thanks!
You should of put the jackets on I wanted to see how they look.
Awe....yes, I should have. Sorry! Thanks for watching though.
This thing is cheap material guys. Soils fast. Thing looks so ugly now don't even want to wear mine
Hey there! Did you have the solid color? I hadn't noticed that with the camo, but I could see that more so with a solid. Thanks for watching!
@BackwoodsPursuit yep solid. Very disappointed in this piece. It's warm but for the price cannot justify it with its durability.
