That’s nice. Another big advantage of using a mecha-quartz is that it usually keeps the case much thinner than an auto chronograph. Not that there is anything wrong with a Speedy of course! 😆
I have the 013 of these and changed the bracelet with a Strapcode Oyster. It is a stunning piece. I have said all along these chronographs are true hidden gems. They have their own personality and style without being an homage. I strongly want a second one, problem is which dial color! Not too many reviewers talk about these great pieces so thank you for bringing them to the forefront.
Hello and happy Sunday from Chicago! This is a great looking watch for the price. That dial looks amazing and I agree the Mecha-Quartz is that way to go!
@@nickfoster3637 It might be a bit tight as my 7 and a bit inch wrist is using all the links and there is only one micro adjust left. Admittedly I am wearing it a tad loose at this stage due to the weather where I am. I hope this helps :)
@@duankruger4582 Thanks again. Picked up the 021 model. The black dial. I thought about the green dial with the gold. Got it on the leather strap hopefully it's long enough. I don't think the bracelet was going to fit my wrist.
@@nickfoster3637 I think you made a great choice. It will be a strap monster so there are plenty to choose from. I also had a look at the green dial. There was also the sbtr001 with a stunning red dial but with another dial layout. Wear in good health.
A great looking watch without a doubt Oleg. It's true Seiko certainly know how to produce great looking dials at the more affordable end of the market. I have a few old 7SXX driven series 5's that have dials that you would expect in watches several times the price. Unfortunately nearly all of them have misaligned hands but at the price I paid some years ago I thought they were 'near enough'. It's clear that Mr Bond agrees with you that Seiko even though they appear to be trying to elevate themselves in the market should not ignore watches like this for those who appreciate them for what they are.
Just received this watch a couple of weeks ago and love it. I expected to replace the band yet the bracelet is more comfortable than expected. Changed the clasp to a milled one which makes big difference. I received the watch in Canada in less than a week from Japan. Obviously not using Canada Post.
Lovely and for the price it would make an excellent first chronograph for many. Seiko may considered an cut price brand in some markets but mid range-plus to others. So it is a solid choice for some. Thanks by the way for the useful link for the Japanese market watches.
Great to give props to the models you like. Nice balanced approach. I finally pulled the trigger on a black bay 58 partly after your recommendation video. Keep up the good work.
I've had mine for almost two years now. Its a great bang for buck watch. I fitted an Oyster bracelet from another Seiko and its looks like its worth more than it cost.
Seiko offers a great deal of value at many price points. I have Seikos that have run me from $350 on sale up to $2900 on sale and Grand Seikos beyond that. In every instance, I have felt that I have received excellent value and interesting horology.
Good looking watch , excellent price. Agree about the date, but I really dislike that pointless complication anyway (only useful for those with no memory) ... cheers mate 👍🏻
Wow that one seems like a bargain for what it is. Now I'll ask -- How does Seiko justify charging this amount for this watch, and much much much more for the new Speedtimers like the SSC813? If this one had sapphire and a panda dial, I'd definitely buy it vs waiting for the Speedtimers to drop in price over the next few years (hopefully). Also, thanks for the promo code, given as a fellow Canadian, so many times we get the shaft given the USD to CAD conversion, plus duty/tariffs/taxes when importing. So every little bit helps.
I mean it's the watch world, how anything is justified in it. Many microbrands offer the same Seiko movement with the same specs or worse for $500 USD easily. Look at Straton or Brew for example. I can see Seiko looking at the market and thinking: "We're the brand with history and we make and sell those movements. Hell, why can't we charge the same?". Also I don't think they will ever drop in price. It was a successful release and considering Seiko's track record I doubt that they will ever be cheaper than they're now.
@@educationprogramassistant5518 regarding the new speed timer (solar), I guess time will tell (pun intended). Most other lower-end Seikos seem to launch, then end up on sale eventually. I haven't paid MSRP for a single one of mine, and all have been from ADs. Then there is also the grey market of course when they do find their way to Joma and the like eventually.
Its hard for me to like date window between 3 and 4 indices. Its look like its there as an afterthought, just as a reminder of squeezing complications last minute.
I got mine last week. It has shit bracelet like any other Seiko but the watch itself is great. I bought a dark blue suede and a dark blue tropical rubber strap and now it is complete.
For somebody just getting into watches or just looking for a daily set it and forget it, this is not a bad option. I am well past this point in my watch collecting journey and has very little appeal to me.

Any links to the strap you mentioned? Btw I'm from Spain, don't know if that would be an issue. Anyways appreciate your comment!

I have one of these and is a stunning watch. Fits perfectly. The hollow endlinks might put some off but they fit well and tight.
Do you think the bracelet would fit a 7 3/4 inch wrist? Thinking about buying one today

How are you liking the bb58
Great review as always! I think I might pick one up before you make the price climb. 😂. I hope your friends are safe

I don’t mind the hollow links. Keeps the weight down. Plus, when on wrist, it won’t be jangley.
That is what I need to see from Seiko! Great review

Synthetic, essential, Bravissimo.
Compliments.
I'd like to see the performance of the Seiko SPBY165
I love it I will order one thanks Oleg for reviewing good watches all the time.
nice watch. very good review. ~JDS/CT great pup
Would love to see more videos like this. And more watches that compete against Tudor, Sinn etc.
Nice find, reminds me of something from the ‘OOs but that’s not a bad thing.

@@Conundrum191 Your words in God's ears, but until then I satisfied myself with the SBTR017 (or as I call it "poor man's Alpinist").
Try the seiko essentials ssb413 chrono it has a sapphire crystal and looks even closer to a speed master
I own this watch. Looks expensive and feels great.
Incredible value for $! Thank you for letting us know about this model!
Love the review. Love the watch

Any idea where I can get thst grey strap or what to search for to find thst colour and material, been struggling.
It says on some websites the diameter is 42.5mm
Thanks for sharing
Thank you Oleg Hi Mr Bond (:
A handsome piece for sure.
so i got a better deal for what i got? brand new and I got it around 85 - 90 dollars
I didn't know you were Canadian. I'm in Ontario
Where can I get extra links for SEIKO SBTR024
Bond would have looked good wearing a Seiko bandana during the video...
That is a really fine looking watch!
This is a great looking value proposition from Seiko.
There is nothing as quartz better of this in terms of quality and price
Well done Mr Bond.
Be well Oleg.
🇺🇦🤝🇳🇿🤝🇨🇦
looks great
Why not finish the case properly, put a quality bracelet on it and a 6R movement? Sell it for just under $1000 and it's an absolute killer watch...

What point are you at
Beautiful watch.
No wrist watch check!? :/
Push buttons look like 5g antenna
OR SBTR027
They didn't care enough to sell it in the North American market so f' em
Never owned a seiko. I don't get the fascination....
Slava Ukraine!
Quartz.. yuck
Sorry, it's cheap and nasty.
No u
If I didn't have a Seiko flightmaster this would have been the Seiko chronograph for me. Really nice.
