the bottomline is that Madden isn't going to be truly "GREAT" again until they get some competition again. Don't tell me that EA actually tries with these games. Ever since 2005 (madden 06), they've had the entire market for NFL games and without competition (2k), they can mail it in every year and know the game is still going to sell since they're the only game available. The last great Madden was 05, loved that game.
Haven't bought a football game since NCAA 08, but it becomes one of those things like what are you gonna do. I like football, and I want an NFL video game for my PS4. There are literally no other options. So now that Madden 17 is out I will just snag 16 off amazon for 20 bucks. I think the new draft champs mode looks pretty cool

IGN, next time please focus on Madden's line play in your future reviews. As it stands, there is still major programming flaws with the lineplay. Please considering looking into how the OL/DL plays next year in your review. As it currently stands, unfortunately, Madden's OL and DL does not realistically represent football. There is still motion shifting and suction blocking by the OL. When the DL gets a proper angle towards the QB, the OL would motion shift to throw a block. There is no true awareness by the DL for the QB. Especially during passing plays, as the QB is 20 feet behind the pocket, the DL continues to engage the OL, rather than being aware that he can take a better angle to get to the QB. As it stands, the DL is essentially programmed to first engage the OL rather than programmed with awareness to rush the QB. If the DL's first instinct is to hit the OL in the numbers, can a true pass rush truly be replicated to allow a pocket to form naturally? The answer is no. The DL needs to be programmed to rush the QB at all cost, and programmed to avoid the OL with any moves possible. The OL needs to be programmed to prevent any object from getting to the backfield. Only THEN, will a real pocket form naturally and organically. And only THEN, can real football begin in the world of Madden. IGN, next time focus on the line play in your review.
I'll consider purchasing Madden when EA finally decides to use physics based tackles instead of 20-30 shitty animations. Other games have figured it out 10 years ago, why can't they?

First madden in 3 years.but the whole button hold and press in order to catch it is the most retarted piece of crap I've seen. I was just playing and a guy intercepted my ball every drive after like 5 times. It is the most confusing most frustrating thing in the game. An 8.8 is too generous with all these bugs and glitches in the game. CFM is literally unplayable and even the EA director tells people to avoid playing it until a patch comes out. That is just inexcusable, they are so focused on MUT and how to drain more money out of people's pocket with their madden packs that they let these big glitches go through unseen until the public mentions it.

it doesn't even follow basic NFL rules, if you do an aggressive catch and the receiver comes down with the ball without being touched by a defender, he will not get up and run, he is considered downed in that spot. that isn't NFL rules, that is ncaa rules
The most annoying is on online play if you beat a few mugs who had no clue how to play it forces you into the hard category with no chance of getting out of there. Once you're playing out of your level it ruins the game. I was good in the medium category but once I beat a bunch of guys who were terrible or got points from guys who left the game early I was forced to play the superstars with no option to leave that division.
EA PLEASE fix the player collisions you had me fooled with the opening sequence the game looked superb i expected that kind of gameplay when i finally played an exibition and what i got was madden 15 with added WR camera angles

This game is good but two things 1. Speed nerf 2. Y catch OP. For example I had a no name from the Ravens jump 3 feet in the air to then make a Odell catch, get slammed in the back and still hold on to the ball, then did a flip on the defenders back, then with his knees inches from the ground stop him self from hitting the ground with one had and presided to walk in to the endzone.

because the fact of the matter is DS games are really realistic almost to the point like if you were playing outside and when it comes two fumbles they need to be more a little bit more accurate not saying that not but I need to be more because it contains the game and the momentum and when someone gets a cliff fumble and say you're losing 7-3 you gotta clear fumble and then it's really a clear fumble and they still give the ball back to the team that is very frustrating because you lose the game and then they let the team get momentum and then to take to school like three or four touchdowns just from the momentum so I just think when it comes to the fumbles in Madden they need to make it a little bit more strict and make sure that it when somebody actually really fumbles that they remain the ball to the person that fumbled the ball and not return the ball to the other team because it's an amazing momentum change it whenever turn the ball to the other team and that person that I clear fumble
Powering. I hope 2k takes this opportunity to make a completely new nfl gaming franchise. Look what they did with nba. While nba live is getting ratings of 4 out of 10, 2k16 is getting 9s. I haven't played Madden in years. This one is pretty good (I only play Franchise mode or Exhibition) There are only 2 things I don't like. 1. Slow. It takes too long to get into the game from the time I first put in the game. Loading just takes too long. 2. The last play I just did in game. I could see that the defense was holding so I knew I got a free play. I threw a long pass, which lead to an interception. Now that shouldn't matter because the holding penalty. BUT, the game automatically declined the penalty, giving the opponent posession. WTF!? That is the second time something like this has happened where I just get straight up cheated. So besides the long loading times and the occasional instance of getting messed over, the rest of it is good. Controls are good (Where's the book? I want a reference for the controls. Why do I not know how to stiff arm or spin? Where's the book? What, EA can't afford 1 or 2 sheets of paper to include for $60?)

Im glad to see they fixed the passing. Madden 15 was awful. The short pass game was the only reliable thing. The long pass was terrible. It was always under thrown. No matter what. I played with many of the top QBs & i had that problem. No matter if i threw it hard or lobbed it. It was under thrown. Glad to see it changed
IGN reviews are not so much "Reviews" but more like a scripted detailed thesis that the game developer sent IGN along with a large cheque. Sadly, I don't look for reviews from companies anymore I look at small youtube channels trying to become big because they usually have a 100% truthful review

Well on metacritic between the Xbox one and PlayStation reviews it's averaging an 85 so he doesn't seem to be that far off.

it doesn't even follow basic NFL rules, if you do an aggressive catch and the receiver comes down with the ball without being touched by a defender, he will not get up and run, he is considered downed in that spot. that isn't NFL rules, that is ncaa rules
I don't know football the best but have recently started liking it so I have never played a madden game should I buy this?

Does it slow down every time for a jump ball?
The most annoying is on online play if you beat a few mugs who had no clue how to play it forces you into the hard category with no chance of getting out of there. Once you're playing out of your level it ruins the game. I was good in the medium category but once I beat a bunch of guys who were terrible or got points from guys who left the game early I was forced to play the superstars with no option to leave that division.
Commentary will never be same without John Madden in the game

EA PLEASE fix the player collisions you had me fooled with the opening sequence the game looked superb i expected that kind of gameplay when i finally played an exibition and what i got was madden 15 with added WR camera angles
and don't get me wrong if its not that clear fumble then it shouldn't say fumble but when it says fumble and the other team picks up the bull they should let the ball be kept to the person that fumbled the ball
for someone who hasn't played Madden in over a decade, is this something that would be easy to pick up and play? or is it to the point where only hardcore Madden fans can play?
It's easy but it depends on who you're playing I'm not big on madden but I get a couple wins from here and there

Yea that is my biggest issue (frame rate & glitches) and also the hitting/tackling physics and sounds are off and the running/transition animations need improvement

This game is good but two things
1. Speed nerf
2. Y catch OP. For example I had a no name from the Ravens jump 3 feet in the air to then make a Odell catch, get slammed in the back and still hold on to the ball, then did a flip on the defenders back, then with his knees inches from the ground stop him self from hitting the ground with one had and presided to walk in to the endzone.

btw way it made my friend stop playing the game because there was 20 seconds left on the clock and I was down 21 points in the fourth. So I won and my friend says he will never play madden again.

because the fact of the matter is DS games are really realistic almost to the point like if you were playing outside and when it comes two fumbles they need to be more a little bit more accurate not saying that not but I need to be more because it contains the game and the momentum and when someone gets a cliff fumble and say you're losing 7-3 you gotta clear fumble and then it's really a clear fumble and they still give the ball back to the team that is very frustrating because you lose the game and then they let the team get momentum and then to take to school like three or four touchdowns just from the momentum so I just think when it comes to the fumbles in Madden they need to make it a little bit more strict and make sure that it when somebody actually really fumbles that they remain the ball to the person that fumbled the ball and not return the ball to the other team because it's an amazing momentum change it whenever turn the ball to the other team and that person that I clear fumble
5 out 10 because Odell beckham makes 1 good catch last year and now he catches everything in madden. Still trash

Powering. I hope 2k takes this opportunity to make a completely new nfl gaming franchise. Look what they did with nba. While nba live is getting ratings of 4 out of 10, 2k16 is getting 9s. Also if the computer runs hurry up offense it zooms into the quarterbacks face and scares you by revealing how disgusting these graphics really are. Games like this they should really have betas for. Before you say (they did!!) may I remind you that was an open beta for youtubers to go and play and get a glimpse of EA sports latest atrocity.

Madden 16 is what Madden 15 should have been, but hey atleast EA did improve in some areas. Still the game is far from perfect, and i don't know if they will ever make a perfect football game.
Only causal fans who pick up a game here and there or the 2k fan boys will say the games the same I have played every madden game since madden 09 not that any one cares but there are big differences between the games expect madden 25-15 I'm the features section madden 16 has better features expect for the cloud mode which I think is dumb madden 12 is still one of the best maddens madden 16 definitely is top 5 in my opinion

progression is totally broken this yearafter playing entire year, i can raise only 2-3 awareness????forexample, mariota and winston was 79 ovr out of draft. they finishee their rookie season with 81 ovr. then 82 in second year, after fully playing 5 seasons, their rating is like 85 or 86. progression is soooo slow this year . i dont think ea programmed them as busts or mere starters. last year developing players was too easy. this year is opposite

Look I know a lot of you hate on madden because it is the same thing every time but guy's listen to me. Don't listen to haters. They are lying to get more people on their side. What People don't think about is how much work they put into the cards. So many amazing cards and are amazing. The cards are beautiful. They release a card every week they put so much work into the look of the cards. DON'T be a hater.
I haven't played Madden in years. This one is pretty good (I only play Franchise mode or Exhibition) There are only 2 things I don't like. 1. Slow. It takes too long to get into the game from the time I first put in the game. Loading just takes too long. 2. The last play I just did in game. I could see that the defense was holding so I knew I got a free play. I threw a long pass, which lead to an interception. Now that shouldn't matter because the holding penalty. BUT, the game automatically declined the penalty, giving the opponent posession. WTF!? That is the second time something like this has happened where I just get straight up cheated. So besides the long loading times and the occasional instance of getting messed over, the rest of it is good. Controls are good (Where's the book? I want a reference for the controls. Why do I not know how to stiff arm or spin? Where's the book? What, EA can't afford 1 or 2 sheets of paper to include for $60?)

Madden 15 was a fresh change, madden 16 tried to ride that success.
4/10 patriots footballs were deflated in ultimate team.
The load times are horrid, but overall, it's a pretty fun game
They gave this a 8.8??? Really...Defenders still have no reactions to whats going on, awareness is horrible. All the player movements are better but still feel stiff. I am really losing stock in reviewers...My Madden 16 review is real and I have got a ton of great feedback on it, I will never sell out lol

I don't buy madden games anymore because of how it's so similar and all that. Even with Metal Gear coming out next week, i didnt wanna do this but i got football fever. and I have to say......this game is really fun. I know Madden has a bad rep for copy and pasting features and what not, but this is the most fun i have had on a Madden game in a long time

Madden 15 was awful.
The short pass game was the only reliable thing.
The long pass was terrible.
It was always under thrown. No matter what. I played with many of the top QBs & i had that problem. No matter if i threw it hard or lobbed it. It was under thrown.

IGN reviews are not so much "Reviews" but more like a scripted detailed thesis that the game developer sent IGN along with a large cheque. Sadly, I don't look for reviews from companies anymore I look at small youtube channels trying to become big because they usually have a 100% truthful review

I just hate how this game favors the receiver so everytime they throw a ball into a guy in triple coverage he catches it with one hand thus making me loose the game
