This is excellent. My only caution would be to check the spaces in the code. For example you need a space before and after the -> in the URL mapping code.
I had the issue where the ads.txt file is a duplicate in my downloads, therefore getting renamed ads (2), and when I added it to Squarespace it didn't work. I had to do what you said, delete the file from Squarespace, then I had to delete any duplicates in my downloads folder of my computer, then I made sure my ads.txt that i wanted to use was named appropriately, reuploaded, then boom, it worked! Thanks for this video, it helped a ton!
Update: One hour later... I was able to do it! My mistake was that I was using an rtf file in Text Edit on a Mac. Make sure you go to Format > Make Plain Text, not Rich Text. Rtf is not the same as a txt file. Lastly, make sure your publisher ID is correct! pub-37XXXXXXXXX...

I believe that you should create a similar video for 7.1, because the Advanced Settings are located differently on 7.1. Also, when you talk about the 'test domain' or 'domain' part, you must clarify whether you are referring to the website's URL or its backend URL given by Squarespace.

Rather, it shows ads.txt again, and when I click that, it opens a webpage -- and it seems I've skipped steps and am at the verify the redirect stage just before Step 10. This was a very thorough walkthrough but it didn't work for me. The redirect failed when I entered the URL you provided. My code should have been identical to your example. Not sure what I did wrong here. Is there a space between -> and /s/ads.txt in the URL mappings?

I copied my domain to a .txt file added the /ads.txt->/s/ds.txt 301 to the URL mapping but was unable to save and I keep getting an error message from squarespace saying I have more than 5000 rules. But when I copy the .txt to my browser it does download the file. Will this still work? Do you have any suggestions how to continue or map the redirect URL?
Hey! When you put it in the URL Mappings field, make sure you have things spaced out appropriately. Here's a copy of mine. Try pasting this directly into your URL Mappings box and see if that works: /ads.txt -> /s/ads.txt 301

Good question. This video was made using a Squarespace 7.0 site. I did recently set up a Squarespace 7.1 site that I'm building out. I was going to wait to put ads on it, but I may do that in the near future to see if I can get this to work. On the surface it looks like it should, but there are definitely some differences with 7.1. Stay tuned.
Did you rename your file something else like I did? I called it "google ads.txt" and kept getting an error message. The file's name should only be "ads" so when you copy the link, the link should read, "/s/ads.txt" then add the 301. The link you need to copy into the URL mapping should look exactly like this: /ads.txt -> /s/ads.txt 301 Nothing else works. I hope this helps. Good luck.

hi there, thanks for the video - it seems very helpful! I have completed all the instructions, but find that when i click the url/ads.text the file doesn't download. I am 99.9% sure that the file is uploaded etc, but it just doesn't seem to open in my browser. Does this mean that it hasn't worked? This is great! I used this method a month or two ago, and it still isn't catching it. I've deleted and re-added the file. I guess time will tell if this round works. Any idea why it sometimes doesn't catch it?
i did this before. it was effective in removing the warning earning at risk. but when i deleted the link.. i got the warning again. i will not delete it this time

Unfortunately I can't help. I moved my website to WordPress last year, so I'm no longer on the Squarespace train.

when i look for the file extension its not 301 extension you're using in the example

Hi Charlie. As long as you use your public-facing domain in the URL redirect section, then you should be good. I hope that helps.
