I can’t believe how complex you make this. All you gotta do is find what # goes into both 24 and 30. 6. 6 into 24 is 4. 6 into 30 is 5. 4/5. Old people know how to do this stuff because we were taught math in school, unlike today

Thank you. I am “old” born in 1957 and I appreciate the simple, efficient refresher you provided. History, English, Social Studies, Science were easy and enjoyable for me. Math…not so much. I cannot follow this teacher AT ALL!

    If the sum of individual numbers comprising each number = 3, then it is divisible by 3. (24 = 2 + 4 = 6 = divisible by 3.) (30 = 3 + 0 = 3 = divisible by 3.)
So, you can go about this equation a couple of different ways ... realize that it's an equation that can use the 3 rule to reduce it to 8/10 (and then halve for the 4/5).
Or just realize the enumerator and denominator are even .... and just keep halving until you reach the lowest common denominator.
24/30 = 12/15 ... and here you no longer have a denominator that is equally divisible by 2. But if you calculate the sum of each again, you will get 1+2=3 and 1+5=6 ... so this 12/15 fraction IS divisible by 3. Divide numerator and denominator by 3, and you get (12/3)/(15/3) = 4/5.

There are 2 ways to do this, so I'll do both and then watch your video
    1) 24/30 both numbers are even, so divide by 2
12/15 one even and oner odd, but 3 will go into both
4/5 and that's as far as you can go
    2) All the single numbers that will go into 24 are 2 3 4 6 8
and all the single numbers that will go into 30 are 2 3 5 6
We can cross out 6 and 8 because we have 3 and 4
and we can cross out 2 and 3 because they are common to both
    leaving us with 4 and 5 24/30 becomes 4/5

Find that highest number that divides into both the number is six six into 24 goes four six and the 30 goes five answer is 4/5 doesn't take a lot of calculations if you know your math

We were taught times tables by rote for a reason! We know 6 goes into both numbers. Factoring it out is interesting but not necessary.
