You should try doing a min max democratic japan. It’s been a while since I’ve played it so not sure if it’s still as broken but I remember that before you do the democratic coup you fully integrate menjuko and manjuko aswell as release Korea and justify on them. You then build convert all military factories in east part of japan where the other side of the civil war will spawn. Once you’ve one the civil war and go down the tree you get some call buffs and the option to annex and puppet a lot of European colony’s in Asia. On top of this you China will Likely declare war on you for your territory in manjuko and you will get no debuffs and you will be able to go to war with the soviets once joining allies and take lots of Russian territory

You've really opened my eyes up to starving out Germany. I normally play the Netherlands with a focus of strangling Japan with subs/light cruisers but this....this has given me so many great ideas. Thank you!
My steps for this achievement: 1, Go the far right path in focus tree, get the war goal toward UK. Do not unite low countries yet 2, After France join Allies, declare war on UK 3, Use paratroopers to capitulate France ASAP 4, Use paratroopers to capture ports, land your armies and capitulate UK (this is the hardest part, I tried quite some attempts here), annex UK, puppet France, then unite Benelux 5, At this time it should be around 1941. Move all your armies to Britain (so that when you capitulate, your armies are still there), Germany will declare war on you, disband you own faction and join Allies immediately (so that peace conference will not trigger once you capitulate), do not call France into the war. 6, Germany may not declare war on you if it is already at war with Soviet Union. You can declare war on Germany and join Comintern when ready (still, it is better to join Allies because they provides you much better naval and air supports. You have to be on the defensive side so that other Allied countries can join your war against Germany, they won't join offensive wars). 7, Once Germany capitulates you, finish the Continue the War in Batavia focus. 8, Deploy your armies in France, call France into war once you are ready to push. 9, Keep an eye on Indonesia for Japanese naval invasion. You need to guarantee your Colonial Shipbuilding focus.
Hongyu Zhu how does this work? You have to be democratic to get the achievement and when you go the fascist route you can’t switch back to democratic with the Dutch focus tree.
I really liked this video. Very smart to use strat bombers, I think people are using them way too little. Bonus points for doing it while staying democratic from the start. I did this achievement myself a week ago, there is another way you can do this achievement that is less reliable on the AI though and much faster: Go fascist, eat Belgium and Luxemburg and make them your core states for extra factories. Go down the focus path to create your own faction, invite Italy. Build 48 divisions (20 width infantry with engineers and recon) from Indonesian manpower and place them in Italy so they won't disband when you capitulate. When Germany declares war on Poland, make sure you declare an offensive war on Germany and invite Italy, you must do this because Germany won't declare on you because he will have a non aggression pact with Italy. When the war starts you need to do everything in your power to prevent France from capitulating (basically defend from the Maginot line to the English Channel). When time passes on you need to go up to Service By Requirement, this will give you enough colonial manpower so you can ultimately have 72 divisions in Europe and enough in Indonesia to protect from Japan. Make sure to keep producing convoys throughout the game, whenever you are low on equipment you will receive plenty of lend-lease from the Allies despite being fascist and a different faction. Push forward to the Benelux slowly and take your time, eventually Soviet will declare war on Germany and Germany will panic, removing the bulk of their western units to the east, this is when you push aggressively and allow military access to the Allies so they will help push Germany from your land. I managed to capitulate Germany in 1942 by doing this, while not losing any land to Japan despite lazy garrison orders. When Germany is dead and you are at peace, disband your faction, justify on France (they are closest) and declare war, make sure to delete all your units or relocate them to Indonesia so that the Benelux land is empty. When France/Allies have capitulated you they will turn you Democratic, achievement done!

Hey, the guy whos posted the guide on Reddit/on the last vid on the NL. A few improvements here: 1: Don't start building civs at the start, build up infrastructure to 8 in curacao instead, this nets more civs from trade then you would normally build with your abysmal -60% construction for them. 2: Building infrastructure in Indonesia is also better than the civs. Indonesia can get a better economy than you early on so higher infrastructure allows them to build more stuff on their cores (they have more slots!). It can also be worth it to annex INS through the puppet mechanic and eating all their manpower before doing the focus (as the focus doesn't allow you to do that for some reason). 3:Expand the Artillerieinrichingen can be bypassed once you have lost the mainland! It's still worth doing the previous 3 focusses though. (Giving Germany 2 more mils isn't smart)Just do Philips in 1940 and use the 2 boosts then. Apart from a few nitpicks great vid!
Aha, I see Conrad _ship-a-day_ Helfrich has found his way in this video. Under his leadership the Dutch submarine force was extremely aggressive when Japan attack the Dutch East Indies. Due to the combination this aggressiveness, and being well acquainted with those waters, the Dutch submarine force killed off more shipping than the British and US submarine forces combined for the first few weeks of the Japanese attack.
I want you to do this: 1:Play Luxembourg 2. Build only paratroopers and planes 3. Turn facist 4. Join the axis and try to capitulate france 5. Build a crazy navy with france land 6. Defeat the uk. OR 1. Play siam 2. Go facisr 3. Declare on malaya 4. Join axis 5. Attack indonesia once your done with malaya and indochina 6. Build a big navy and finish off the allies 7. Build a south east asian empire (You can always release vietnam, but idk)
I had a lucky game in which Japan turned communist and joined the Soviets while Austria-Hungary was created and also annexed Czechoslovakia taking it away from Germany.Italy on the other hand created its own faction. I evacuated my core provinces, let the Germans occupy them and capitulate me and then let my army help defending the French border. In 1941 after relentless pushes the German economy broke apart. I could easily re-occupy my core provinces and get the achievement. The war against the USSR didn't even start yet. It also needed a lot of time and I had about 20 failed tries, though.

Thank you SO, SOOOO much!! I've been trying over, and over, and over. I finally got it thanks to you. Of course I didn't do a very good job, so the USSR still fell, but they lasted until 1945. And with naval supremacy it was a question of time. Turkey decided to join the Axis, and that resulted in more then two million axis forces being surrounded and destroyed in North Africa, thanks to my elite bike-boys. It took until 1950 with Germany at 0 manpower with All Adults Serve. By the way, I'm not sure if you did this, but I certainly did. Ask the other dudes for land in China (or where ever you can). Super helpful.
I completed this achievement using this guide, but I had multiple brain aneurysm's from watching the allied AI smash their face repeatedly against the German defences and die over and over again.

Well I sat down and played as the Netherlands to get this achievement. I followed the video step by step and I did even better! (must have had some lucky RNG ;-) I managed to get half of Germany in the peace deal, and puppet Japan as a bonus... in 1944! In '45 the Soviets declared war and I managed to take Moscow after dropping a few nukes. Best moment of the game was when I switched my stack of submarines defending the East Indies to medium risk and sunk 4 carriers in a row! Dave, this was my best game so far and also very enjoyable. Thanks for the top tutorial that was so good even I managed it! :-)
I love playing like this. I was the United Mexican states in a faction with the USA and focused on a large navy and starved the Japanese out of supply by cutting off their supply in Eastern China. They had like 23 convoys in 1943.
Watching this is pretty funny to me because you basically won doing what the allies did irl, bomb the shit out of them and blockade their fleets until their industry and resouces are spent
It was a fun achievment to get. I've turned into a dangerous convoy raider with subs, making suprisingly huge casualties to Italy so even if USSR was in bad shape a D day in Italy saved the day.
I love your videos man! If you do happen to read this comment, one thing that occurs to me; an idea that can maybe help you out with more possibilities for content going forward: having just watched your 30 minutes of Hel and this one, they both seem to have been done before La Resistance. It would seem that the functionalities in La Resistance substantially change the opportunities and constraints for pulling off Achievements like these. It would seem you could easily get another video out of them! Another idea that I was tossing around for a "challenge" for you to do, but I just don't know the game well enough to fully explicate it: a really low casualty playthrough in which you have to conquer a large portion of states or territory. One idea that I'm not sure is the best is: as Democratic Sweden conquer at least 4 of 7 majors and suffer no more than 1% as many casualties as all of your enemies? That almost sounds impossible to me, but knowing you, you'd figure out a way to pull it off! There is also an Achievement for Sweden that I had a look at which looks pretty challenging: something like start a faction and have all the other Nordic countries join.
7:53 Btw you can deploy colonial divisions onto your own country, it doesn't appear as green but if you click on the province where you want them, then they will deploy like any other template (save your convoys hah!)
I did this in almost the complete opposite to you in that I focused on my world travelling armies and forgot entirely about my airforce. In my succesfull run I had Spain join Comintern and I got Turkey into the Allies. I also timed it so Italy had a civil war during 1942 when the Americans were landing and it went much easier, since I got the achievement during 1944.
So I just did this challenge and holy fuck your convoy raiding methods got me to cause 1 million German Casualties, 200k Italian Casualties, and 700k Japanese Casualties, as well as ultimately Crush Germany in 1943, (Start bombers are insane, I always produce a fuckton as the US). Awesome guide, and thanks again for the tips.

So, I don't have Man the Guns, and I don't know how the Government in Exile works, but why don't you start a civil war or invade Belgium, leave Dutch shores except for one port and push the enemies back? The achievement doesn't specify that you need to liberate Netherlands from the Axis.
Alternatively, join the Axis, let the Allies land and take you over, then retake everything with the German warmachine. It doesn't specify Democratic Netherlands either.

I wanted to play as United kingdom and historical accurate and i made some settings making france democratic historical and then what happened next? France invaded me in somewhere june 1936 And what happened next? ITALY joined the war
I mean it is possible to win as the Netherlands against germany in 1.7.1 by going through the Benelux unification and European Union portion of the focus tree, however due to... problems caused to the allied AI strategy by it you need to hold the maginot line for France with it because the French AI seems to forget that they actually need to post troops on level 10 forts to hold them. Is also not usefull for this specific achievement, but it is usefull for the 'hold the netherlands without losing a single province till 1945 while staying democratic' achievement.
There’s another bug, if you make colonia troops, it says that you can’t spawn them in your mainland, BUT. If you click one of your provinces it will spawn them when you want. Very useful!
Hello FeedBackGaming, I have a challenge for you that I have been trying for a while and can never seem to get quite right mainly because the Allies seem to be so useless. It implies starting with Sweden, establishing the Nordic Empire (it works even after USSR takes its share of Finland), not joining any faction and then beating up the Axis with the support of the USSR and Allies when Germany attacks the USSR and afterwards beating up the USSR. The idea would be to go after the Axis first. Beating up the Allies as well is optional and of course all of this without using any particular exploits, just good knowledge of game mechanics. Hope to see you do it as I really want to know how at this point, on my 20+ attempt trying different methods and still no success. Cheers !
I found the CHEESIEST way to defeat Germany as the Soviet Union: 1. Start the purge. I like to sit on pp and not get a focus usually to justify two at the same time, but this time around this event needs to be over. ASAP 2. When you have enough PP, start justifying on Poland. 3. Move ALL troops to Polish border, convert to infantry, and train. With the trickle of xp start building the 7/2. Focus on guns and artillery. Nothing else. 4. By the time Poland's justification is over the purge event should be over and you should be working down the the focuses to the one to get rid of the bad mojo. 5. Right before the justification is finished for Poland, start on one for GERMANY. It is 1937, and they shouldn't have started anything so should have pretty much the divisions they began with. You should have around four stacks of 24, some converted to 7/2. 6. If you catch it right, you will have been done with Poland, got rid of the bad mojo, and the justification for Germany should be finishing. 7. If Italy doesn't join Axis, easy. If Italy joins, hold back an army for naval invasions. The Italians LOVE to land a handful of troops for you to wipe out. Wipe Germany...in late 1937 or early 1938. 8. If Italy joined, start justification on EVERY country in Balkans NOT a Democracy. Cross your fingers Austria doesn't get guaranteed by France or Britain. In my game I ended up with Italy joining Axis. Tension got so high that AMERICA joined Allies. They declare war on Axis because either Italy or Bulgaria declared war on someone they were guaranteeing. I tried to go through the backdoor of Austria but Allies cock blocked me and guaranteed them. So I contented myself with gobbling up Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. Czech and Yugo went with Allies. I had to sit and twiddle my thumbs while Britain and America naval invaded Italy, ending WW2 in early 1941. Then I watched the fun as Japan declared on America, who was in a full wartime economy for a year and part of the Allies. The point is, don't let Germany start down the historic path. They are super weak early game.
I invaded Turkey instead and so annexed it and Romania as well. If timing is proper, it'll help to rid of Great Purge effect. But my timing was wrong.. So i declared war on chineese united front, dissolved Comintetn, joined Japan faction, took control of it, turned state fascist as well. Torgether Axis and Coprosperity team ate Poland's faction. And later when Germany and co were struggling in Greece, i placed one army group in Turkey, second along rivers and mountains, while third, main one, on border with Germany. And then ased a question "Hey, who did you call the untermenshen?" a hard way. Massive assault, defense against desperate attacks, massive assault with superior firepower, repeat. Untill Germany fell.

Am I the only one who rolled back their game version to try and follow this and end up with weird levels of difference in navy exp and political power?
I've done everything what you've done in this video: I reduced the planes of germany to ~4k, they have no fleet, no convoys, japan and italy are in the same situation, but germany managed to capitulate the soviets in time (even though they struggled a lot) and the allies kept launching failed naval invasions. Now it's 1946. The thing is, should I restart or wait for germany to be so crippled that they can't even stand a fight?

It literally took me 20 days to do this, finally did it with 24x 40- 14/4 divisions, holding 3 provinces for years and then pushing them back
I had a lucky game in which Japan turned communist and joined the Soviets while Austria-Hungary was created and also annexed Czechoslovakia taking it away from Germany.Italy on the other hand created its own faction.
I evacuated my core provinces, let the Germans occupy them and capitulate me and then let my army help defending the French border. In 1941 after relentless pushes the German economy broke apart. I could easily re-occupy my core provinces and get the achievement. The war against the USSR didn't even start yet.
It also needed a lot of time and I had about 20 failed tries, though.

Thank you SO, SOOOO much!! I've been trying over, and over, and over. I finally got it thanks to you. Of course I didn't do a very good job, so the USSR still fell, but they lasted until 1945. And with naval supremacy it was a question of time. Turkey decided to join the Axis, and that resulted in more then two million axis forces being surrounded and destroyed in North Africa, thanks to my elite bike-boys. It took until 1950 with Germany at 0 manpower with All Adults Serve.
By the way, I'm not sure if you did this, but I certainly did. Ask the other dudes for land in China (or where ever you can). Super helpful.

I completed this achievement using this guide, but I had multiple brain aneurysm's from watching the allied AI smash their face repeatedly against the German defences and die over and over again.

Well I sat down and played as the Netherlands to get this achievement. I followed the video step by step and I did even better! (must have had some lucky RNG ;-) I managed to get half of Germany in the peace deal, and puppet Japan as a bonus... in 1944! In '45 the Soviets declared war and I managed to take Moscow after dropping a few nukes.
Best moment of the game was when I switched my stack of submarines defending the East Indies to medium risk and sunk 4 carriers in a row!

I love playing like this. I was the United Mexican states in a faction with the USA and focused on a large navy and starved the Japanese out of supply by cutting off their supply in Eastern China. They had like 23 convoys in 1943.

It was a fun achievment to get. I've turned into a dangerous convoy raider with subs, making suprisingly huge casualties to Italy so even if USSR was in bad shape a D day in Italy saved the day.
I love your videos man! If you do happen to read this comment, one thing that occurs to me; an idea that can maybe help you out with more possibilities for content going forward: having just watched your 30 minutes of Hel and this one, they both seem to have been done before La Resistance. It would seem that the functionalities in La Resistance substantially change the opportunities and constraints for pulling off Achievements like these. It would seem you could easily get another video out of them!
Another idea that I was tossing around for a "challenge" for you to do, but I just don't know the game well enough to fully explicate it: a really low casualty playthrough in which you have to conquer a large portion of states or territory. One idea that I'm not sure is the best is: as Democratic Sweden conquer at least 4 of 7 majors and suffer no more than 1% as many casualties as all of your enemies? That almost sounds impossible to me, but knowing you, you'd figure out a way to pull it off!
There is also an Achievement for Sweden that I had a look at which looks pretty challenging: something like start a faction and have all the other Nordic countries join.

Btw you can deploy colonial divisions onto your own country, it doesn't appear as green but if you click on the province where you want them, then they will deploy like any other template (save your convoys hah!)

I did this in almost the complete opposite to you in that I focused on my world travelling armies and forgot entirely about my airforce.
In my succesfull run I had Spain join Comintern and I got Turkey into the Allies. I also timed it so Italy had a civil war during 1942 when the Americans were landing and it went much easier, since I got the achievement during 1944.
So I just did this challenge and holy fuck your convoy raiding methods got me to cause 1 million German Casualties, 200k Italian Casualties, and 700k Japanese Casualties, as well as ultimately Crush Germany in 1943, (Start bombers are insane, I always produce a fuckton as the US). Awesome guide, and thanks again for the tips.

So, I don't have Man the Guns, and I don't know how the Government in Exile works, but why don't you start a civil war or invade Belgium, leave Dutch shores except for one port and push the enemies back? The achievement doesn't specify that you need to liberate Netherlands from the Axis.
Alternatively, join the Axis, let the Allies land and take you over, then retake everything with the German warmachine. It doesn't specify Democratic Netherlands either.

I mean it is possible to win as the Netherlands against germany in 1.7.1 by going through the Benelux unification and European Union portion of the focus tree, however due to... problems caused to the allied AI strategy by it you need to hold the maginot line for France with it because the French AI seems to forget that they actually need to post troops on level 10 forts to hold them. Is also not usefull for this specific achievement, but it is usefull for the 'hold the netherlands without losing a single province till 1945 while staying democratic' achievement.

There’s another bug, if you make colonia troops, it says that you can’t spawn them in your mainland, BUT. If you click one of your provinces it will spawn them when you want. Very useful!
Hello FeedBackGaming, I have a challenge for you that I have been trying for a while and can never seem to get quite right mainly because the Allies seem to be so useless. It implies starting with Sweden, establishing the Nordic Empire (it works even after USSR takes its share of Finland), not joining any faction and then beating up the Axis with the support of the USSR and Allies when Germany attacks the USSR and afterwards beating up the USSR. The idea would be to go after the Axis first. Beating up the Allies as well is optional and of course all of this without using any particular exploits, just good knowledge of game mechanics. Hope to see you do it as I really want to know how at this point, on my 20+ attempt trying different methods and still no success. Cheers !

I found the CHEESIEST way to defeat Germany as the Soviet Union:
1. Start the purge. I like to sit on pp and not get a focus usually to justify two at the same time, but this time around this event needs to be over. ASAP
2. When you have enough PP, start justifying on Poland.
3. Move ALL troops to Polish border, convert to infantry, and train. With the trickle of xp start building the 7/2. Focus on guns and artillery. Nothing else.
4. By the time Poland's justification is over the purge event should be over and you should be working down the the focuses to the one to get rid of the bad mojo.
5. Right before the justification is finished for Poland, start on one for GERMANY. It is 1937, and they shouldn't have started anything so should have pretty much the divisions they began with. You should have around four stacks of 24, some converted to 7/2.
6. If you catch it right, you will have been done with Poland, got rid of the bad mojo, and the justification for Germany should be finishing.
7. If Italy doesn't join Axis, easy. If Italy joins, hold back an army for naval invasions. The Italians LOVE to land a handful of troops for you to wipe out. Wipe Germany...in late 1937 or early 1938.
8. If Italy joined, start justification on EVERY country in Balkans NOT a Democracy. Cross your fingers Austria doesn't get guaranteed by France or Britain.
In my game I ended up with Italy joining Axis. Tension got so high that AMERICA joined Allies. They declare war on Axis because either Italy or Bulgaria declared war on someone they were guaranteeing. I tried to go through the backdoor of Austria but Allies cock blocked me and guaranteed them. So I contented myself with gobbling up Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. Czech and Yugo went with Allies. I had to sit and twiddle my thumbs while Britain and America naval invaded Italy, ending WW2 in early 1941. Then I watched the fun as Japan declared on America, who was in a full wartime economy for a year and part of the Allies.
The point is, don't let Germany start down the historic path. They are super weak early game.
I invaded Turkey instead and so annexed it and Romania as well. If timing is proper, it'll help to rid of Great Purge effect. But my timing was wrong.. So i declared war on chineese united front, dissolved Comintetn, joined Japan faction, took control of it, turned state fascist as well. Torgether Axis and Coprosperity team ate Poland's faction. And later when Germany and co were struggling in Greece, i placed one army group in Turkey, second along rivers and mountains, while third, main one, on border with Germany. And then ased a question "Hey, who did you call the untermenshen?" a hard way. Massive assault, defense against desperate attacks, massive assault with superior firepower, repeat. Untill Germany fell.

I've done everything what you've done in this video: I reduced the planes of germany to ~4k, they have no fleet, no convoys, japan and italy are in the same situation, but germany managed to capitulate the soviets in time (even though they struggled a lot) and the allies kept launching failed naval invasions. Now it's 1946. The thing is, should I restart or wait for germany to be so crippled that they can't even stand a fight?
