He also confirmed all 5 eras of Mistborn, mentioning how one will be cyberpunk Mistborn! Also, it turns out Sanderson has many sports fans, including NBA player Victor Wembanyama. Hi Jay! A few comments: Brandon has done more readings for SA5: the prologue, three Szeth flashbacks, two Kaladin chapters, most of a Jasnah chapter, an interlude, and now most of two Shallan chapters. Just in case you’ve missed any.
Brandon has long mused about Cyberpunk Mistborn as another in-between Mistborn Era, but this is the first time he’s basically said yeah, he’s expecting to do it. Very exciting!

Most excited for Space Age because I want to see what I feel like is going to be some sort of war between Roshar and Scadrial.
Space age is definitely going to be epic!
For me the most exciting thing about the Mistborn space age series is that Hoid is going to be a main viewpoint character. It's been pretty heavily hinted that it will be the last series in the timeline, because the actual final series will be Dragonsteel, which is the earliest series timeline-wise, kicking off the entire Cosmere storyline and the shattering of Adonalsium, as well as Hoid's origin story.

His Wheel of Time show comments are, in a way, Cosmere-related. Brandon has said in the past that he's being very careful about deals regarding Cosmere movies/shows, making sure he retains creative license. His comments at C2E2 are an excellent example of why. As you said, those executives should be listening to the author of the last 3 books. But they don't have to. This is exactly the type of situation Brandon is trying to avoid.
I started mistborn about a week ago and I finished all of the mistborn books today and just started the stormlight books im addicted to Brandon Sanderson’s books

I think that Shallan will go to the Spiritual Realm in this book, and because it exists outside of time, she will forge a connection with the SR that transcends time, explaining why she has always had a connection to it / can tap into it when she draws

I've been using your cosmere reading order video, and with that in mind... i have little hope of catching up in time for Stormlight 5. Finishing up Mistborn era 1 and LOVING IT! Maybe i will be caught up by the end of 2026 and can join everyone patiently waiting for Sandersons next book. Though with his writing speed, it doesnt seem we need to be too patient.
It feels like when you caught up on 2026 Brando already released another 50 books by then.

Cyberpunk Mistborn sounds so cool but space age is what I'm most excited for. Sanderson is just firing on all cylinders. I wasn't such a fan of Rhythm of War so I hope Wind and Truth really hits it out of the park and reaches the heights of Words of Radiance
Henry Cavill, famously the king of nerds, is also a big Sanderson fan, and once had a conversation with Sanderson about wishing he could play Kaladin. Sanderson broke the news to him that not only is he too old for Kaladin, but also not, you know, Asian enough. Sanderson said he's sure he could find some role in a Cosmere film for him one day, though. Since it will likely still be at least another decade or two before we get a Mistborn Era 2 film, I think he could be an awesome choice for Wax by that point.

@@tedddenzel6769Vasher would work too I just don’t know if it’s as large of a role as Cavil would want (at least based on the stories we know today). Definitely no for Wax. He isn’t a physically huge man and needs a different level of wittiness than Cavil can normally pull off.

So I told my younger brother to read Stormlight and he kept putting it off because of the length and eventually gave in and read all four in a couple months(he’s a really fast reader)! Now he is completely obsessed and got my other brother to read it and my mother and my dads rereading it and he convinced my sister to read it as well but she’s hasn’t gotten to it yet.! He also says it’s better than Tolkien which in our family is unusual as my family loves Tolkien!

Jay I am a huge Spurs fan and Wemby is gonna have an amazing career and it is awesome he is a fan of Sanderson.
I already got HUGE retro synthwave vibes from Painter's world in Yumi & and The Nightmare Painter, so if Brandon can maintain that atmosphere with the intense action we've come to love in Mistborn, it's going to be hard pressed to not be my favorite.
Brandon has mentioned the possibility of Cyberpunk Mistborn several times before now going all the way back to early 2016, though this is the first time he basically outright confirmed it.

Ok, so... space opera Mistborn. If the Cosmere is all set in one solar system, doesn't that have massive implications for basically every other series that takes place within the Cosmere?? Are we about to see a full-blown StormlightxMistborn space epic?
Beyond this. Are the shards going to start converging because of this?? Like, if the different worlds start interacting with each other... what if the shards start becoming pieced together again?

Same galaxy, yes, but not the same solar system. Each setting in the Cosmere is it's own star system.

I wish! Sanderson has said there will be 10 Stormlight Archive books in total, and book 5 will sort of end that story arc but it will pick back up with a bit of a time jump in book 6

There was no way they would have listened to an actual author about the adaptation. These Hollywood writers hate the source material and the fans of the stories they are supposed to be adapting. They think they are smarter than authors whose stories are so beloved that countless people enjoyed every second of the slog through multiple 1000 page tomes put out by these actual geniuses. Yet the screenplay writing hacks can’t even get a million people to tune in for an hour after episode three.

I'm sorry, as a huge fan of cyberpunk, I dont believe Branderson can pull off Cyberpunk. I think Sanderson is a super nice guy and a very inspirational writer. But I'm not a fan of his, so take my opinion with a grain of salt, I guess. I was recently watching one of his panels, and he did a reading of some chapter. A few years ago I DNFd way of kings, always said I'd give it another chance. And in the chapter that Brandon was reading I realized the one thing I really disliked about the stormlight world (the spren). Become a way bigger deal in the story and are basically a whole faction / species, instrad of background spirit creatures.and i guess they can unite with people to give people powers or something and have their own societies. So i guess they're like faeries
The Spren are both actually. Most spren are basically background stuff, some are intelligent characters. Just like animals, there's some intelligent animals (people) and a lot more unintelligent ones.
But how does that relate to Sanderson's ability to write cyberpunk in a completely different setting?
