This is why back in the day we had no patience for people's entitled sniveling over boat drill at the end of a long embarkation day. We were like "Look, Its the only effort you have to put in for 7 or 14 days....put on the life vest and shut your hole."
Not really. I used to work on the ships. By US standards the pay is low, but most crew are foreign and the US, tax free dollars they get, is a fortune where they come from. Even for me, from Australia, I used to double my money with the exchange rate back in the day. The main reason you don't see too many Americans working on board.
The common areas of the ship are cleaned continuously. The reason people get sick on cruises is because people don't wash their hands after going to the bathroom.
there is a RUclipsr called ally who is a dancer on cruiseship. if you look at her videos it looks like she's always hanging out at the designations and enjoying exotic locales and parties. I don't know when she has time to work on the cruiseship.
3 hours to clean the ship?!??! That is completely impossible, sounds like we need federal regulations to insure there is 24 hours to clean properly and restock. Otherwise this is a disease hazard. I may never take a cruise if this goes. on.
But each individual crew member can take a day at port while the others work so anytime they want to unstress they take turns and it’s never an issue most of them ,never want to ,because the money is better than the break , but they end up in trouble ,for getting upset with manage ment.
That’s actually one of the hardest days for a lot of the crew.

Plus crew gets paid quite poorly.

No wonder people get sick on cruises. The cleanliness factor is probably zilch.

I always took my own wet wipes sanitizer just like I when we go to hotels. They don't have time to clean the rooms well.
Ain't no way they're getting every booger off every doorknob in 2 hours
Did you end up picking up a lot of dirt?

Production staff have a very different schedule from housekeeping and the dining /bar crew.

The common areas of the ship are cleaned and restocked continuously. There are tons of federal regulations and inspections about this.
@@TripswithAngie I am thinking about the staterooms, not the common areas. No way they can get really cleaned in only three hours.

No. Crew members generally do not get a day in port anytime they'd like.
I would not want to be trapped on a boat for a week or whatever that I couldn't leave when I had enough
