This is what is left of the Virginia Renaissance Faire. I forgot how many seasons they were open, but I did have the privilege of performing there one weekend. It was a great little faire. I had a mixture of emotions watching this, but I'm so glad that I did. Thank you gentlemen for your great work.
Cool! I was wondering which show this was. Virginia. Makes sense. Trippy to see a show more abandoned than the normal off-season.
I was wondering too, that'd be surreal to go check out while working an east coast fair before it's all gone
Steven Fassl Is this the one on route 3, between King George and Fredericksburg?
Our VA one isn’t being used now? What? Why? I guess I’ve always gone to the Maryland one...🤷♀️
Thanks! I was wondering what location
"Look abandoned tunnels!"
"What classify them as abandoned?"
"No ones in them."
hahaha
Good job you used your ears!
+Anna Johns "Does that mean your house is abandoned when you're not home??" lmfao
+Mump The Trump yes
lol I heard that k
The music you put with these is just amazing. It captures the spirit of the places you visit. Awesome video, keep up the good work, guys!
Amen.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who would love to see this place revived?
You're not the only one..I did a role as a pirate selling swords at the Renaissance Festival in Corona, CA, renfestcorona.com/ It was a lot of fun, I miss it. Our group there would have loved to have a site as nice as this one once was.
@@mxslick50 do you know that Pirates and the Renaissance were two totally different time periods? I always found Renaissance festivals were just Cosplay for anyone that need to dress up.
Auburn Alum I'll bet you are loads of fun at parties. There were pirates of some form throughout history, and there are still pirates today. Kindly take your negative Nancy attitude somewhere else.
@@mxslick50 I thought the whole point of the "Renaissance Festival" was to represent that time? The Pirates at these festivals, like the swords you sold, are from a time much later. Why not have Somali Pirates join in? They would be a blast.
l'endroit à été rasé.
This would be a good village to renovate and live in in a plague apocalypse.
+Harrison Z nerd.
+Kelly Marshall Pretty much.
+Harrison Z Ohmygod 😂😂

What would you say is the most likely cause of a collapse? It will happen eventually.
I think it will be caused by the loss of fossil fuels. The existing worldwide resource war will only escalate as it has been for many years. The news doesn't cover gov covert ops.
Then the money will dry up having no value compared to the rarity of food and clean water. Then the gov and military will start rounding up the able-bodied for labor camps since no one will work for free. This has been going since mankind has existed so these are my expectations. It's already basically happening with third world labor producing overpriced BS for first world spenders who don't think. Like a SelfiePhone for instance. They produce those for $1, then rape the consumer simply because it's a trendy fashion. Like many modern electronics, they are not built to last. They are engineered to be replaced frequently. Just one example. Then there's the modern gaming console starting with the PS3, and XBOX360. Same deal. Engineered to be replaced coincidentally after that one year warranty expires. Just a pattern I observed before going full PC.
If you don't know the oil industry basically controls the automotive industry. They should evolve to find new fuel sources, but that would cost them money. Typical quarterly profits thinking from wealthy bureaucrats. The funny part is some of them have kids.
What a bummer. I worked there for 3 of the 4 seasons it was open and have some great memories from there. It was a beautiful campus, it was a huge disservice to the area when it closed. Also people didnt live in the buildings, there was a campground for workers next to the public area.
Why did it shut down may I ask?
I was a volunteer actor the last year it ran in 98. I was 18 fresh out of high school. It WAS beautiful. I had the best time of my life there! And people DO live in the buildings along with the campground backstage. That tall building they went into was where my guildmaster stayed. I was a minstrel. He taught me how to play the recorder up in those rooms where he lived.
@@mackwkm It seems like such a waste of a lot of effort doesn't it?
@@kristenjackson713 it does but at least they tried but I don"t think lots of things were thought through overall. It started out like gangbusters but then things kind of fell apart. What a shame
Not gonna lie, that location is beautiful. Same with a lot of the buildings, even in their abandoned state. I hope it's repurposed for something eventually.
Its still abandoned. I live 5 min from here. They dont have any plans for it and last summer someone caught a the very tall building on fire
I was holding my breath every time they climbed one of those, most of the ones I have worked at the upper level was only a facade, not used for anything other then hanging a banner or something
I had gone there a few years back and talked to the owner of a near by farm who was sitting out front, one of the local hunting groups uses the area and during hunting season you can see them around, he was kind enough to let us enter with high visibility jackets on of course (hunting season in the woods). The police were using the buildings at one point for training until the floor rotted and one of them fell through. I wouldn't recommend going in the buildings really or trespassing but if you are going to go, avoid hunting season because it is used quite heavily.
If any of this is repeated information or stated in the video sorry, I had a hard time watching this one because I remember it and had gone back around four years ago
This is the Virginia Renaissance Faire in Fredricksburg, VA.
I pass that place all the time it's been for sale for a while
AkJohn74 what's the name? I might wants explore it I'm driving through there in a few weeks.
shadow plays games send me your email address and I'll link the map location
shadow plays games wich way are you traveling to get there so I can get the best way for you
Lion.Fire Why do Americans re-enact this stuff when America wasn't even discovered in mediaeval times? America has ZERO history so piggyback's Englands history. Why?
4:41, 10:41, 15:01 Hmm. Someone’s been using that place for search and rescue training. Those X markers are used when crews evaluate/enter/clear a structure. Can’t quite make out the top quadrant on that first one (12/15?) which would tell you the date they were there. Right quarter will indicate hazards inside. And if you ever see an X inside a square, it means the structure was considered unsafe to enter and/or has been condemned.
I'm at the Georgia Ren Fair right now, lying in bed in my tiny house watching this at 3 AM. It's soooooo surreal.
GA ren fair is a lot of fun. I would be heartbroken if those grounds ended up abandoned, because I have such vivid memories of it.
A privy (short for private) is ye olde slang for a toilet (a 'loo' to be even more British) and that building wasn't Swiss style it was supposed to be Tudor style.
Was laughing about them not knowing what it was
Debbie McIntosh Heiar no one knows everything. 🤷🏼♀️
"What classifies it as abandoned?"
"No one's in it."
So does that mean your house is abandoned when your not around
boeing_737700 RBLX it’s exploitation time
Buildings are in pretty good shape, and I do not think it is abandoned, more like forgotten or just left alone for a long time, you could fix up the place and use it again. It is AMAZING how big it is. Greta place for doing paintball and lots of other fun things.
What a nice place that was. Great video and nice that you explore in groups of people in case something happens.
Is it bad that I died laughing at "Josh we got satanic rituals!" "Its your specialty"
Nope lol
Lol *extends neck* nope
Damn they could fix all these and turn em into houses and have a whole neighborhood of super awesome houses.
"40,000 squires lived here, now it's a ghost town"
hahaha
Love this one, now a word to the wise that might want to come check this out. Be careful. The reason they went down the train tracks was to not get caught, if you get caught you will get into some trouble for trespassing. I already seen a few on this and started doing research. In hunting season you want to stay out, this is now hunting land. I live in the town this is in. I have wanted to go but there are signs up and I am not one to want to get arrested.
a tip for you guys, if you're in the woods like such, you really need to be wearing hunters orange, at least on your back packs, for your safety!
+letsmbpk9 Yea, I was wishing we had that the entire time. We didn't know about the land being used by hunters until we were actually out there.
upkeep and maintenance on so many wood structures would have been a tremendous ongoing task
6:48 - How did pistol training rounds end up in a place like that? Also, anyone else find it kinda cool how this spot is used by hunters now? One man's trash is another's meal ticket.
BEYOND MAD local swat and police routinely use locations like this for training. There was a abandon mall in Livonia Michigan we use to play airsoft in and got caught 1 day. Cops told us they do the same thing with paint rounds so they thought what we were doing was cool. Gave us a friendly warning and let us go. Was lots of fun!!!
Always makes me super happy when I see a new video in my sub box, but the intro music makes it even better. Love this channel. ♥
I really enjoy this channel. You guys have respect for the places you visit, which is genuinely nice to see. You're not loud and obnoxious either, like some of the videos I've seen of people exploring abandoned locations. Your videos are aesthetically pleasing, too. Also, your music choices are spot on. Glad I found this channel 👌🏻
Always a fun time with you guys! Hope to explore again soon!
sup Steve
+Exploring With Steve Yes!!
👋 hola
Omg!!! I went here when I was younger in 1998!
Wow cool place! It kinda makes me happy that there’s not much vandalism done to the place. Where there was, it was in chalk and can be washed off. I don’t like when people go to abandoned places and just trash it. They be like “it’s abandoned anyway”. It’s not even about that. It’s respect for the place as it isn’t yours to trash. That’s what I love about the Proper People; they never remove anything from the places they visit and leave mostly everything untouched out of respect.
I suspect Josh is the son of Vanilla Ice
You guys should seriously have your own TV show. Your videos are so fun to watch!

love these exploration videos!
+The Proper People I love the new intro!
Universal studios park music 7:00
Dylan Delury Islands of Adventure actually :)
+The Proper People bryan is soooooooooo hot
The climb into the hole in the ceiling..great footage. The legs hanging just give out for a moment, and go still, he's just stuck halfway up without just a little extra help to actually be up there.
The movie of The Proper People is gonna be about an entire ghost city! :D
ruclips.net/video/YE-Oa7mAyDU/видео.html
2:54 - "Its like a treehouse" - Yeah, a three-story treehouse. On the ground.
Once again another great video guys. Why was that area abandoned?
+MrBubblescookie It just didn't get much business
+The Proper People I love you guys you are da best
+The Proper People but what about part 2 is diz de end
+MrBubblescookie
It's far enough in the woods that hunters use it as a basecamp. That should tell you it wasn't worth the drive back when it was a fairground.
+Scowler fairground?
This is my new favourite channel, binge watching all of your videos.
15:55 *insert pirates of the caribbean*
It reminds me of the 80's, when the grounds of the Texas Renaissance Festival could still be rented by groups. I explored countless booths and buildings with noone in them, finding random abandoned crafting materials. It was _AWESOME_, not least of which because there were honeysuckle on the grounds and the festival took place in November, long after the blossoms fell.
When I saw Renaissance Festival I thought of Sterling Forest in New York.
6:49 I remember when this closed, it was used as a Nat. Guard "kill house": AKA: Training. What you see there is a UTM, a RAM cartridge. It's an M&P marker round, that has gas inside the casing and fires fast and hits hard. Cool find, haven't seen one like that in over 20 years.
Y'all look like you're on your way to terminus.
It's crazy to see/hear Josh so calm!!.. Like less adhd 😌.. What an awesome place, I can imagine how Beautiful it was in its peek..
One of my favorite things to do is to go to the Renaissance festival.
Very nice. New TPP while coming back from scouting a location. Will watch as soon as I get home.
I've only explored one abandoned place it was a house yay was absolutely trashed and the bath had shit smeared all in it. When I opened the fridge thousands upon thousands of bugs were crawling on the walls (to the point where all you could see was bugs, you can't even see the interior walls of the fridge.
all of you guys walking on the tracks reminded me of the movie STAND BY ME.THANKS FOR THE VIDEO, KEEP THEM COMING. ....
Why are these in the middle of nowhere, and when it was open how did you get there?
+Patrick Mason There were other ways to get there, but they were riskier as far as being caught.
+The Proper People Definitely subbing. Ever since I went inside a small abandoned house, I was OBSESSED with abandoned places and I had no way to satisfy that new side of me that is a weird freak for abandoned places. Your channel brings me great joy. :)
+Jahbari Akua I'm the same. I went somewhere once with an abandoned fair ground, and although we could only look through the fence, it was just very strange to see these old, rusted rides, including what was left of a chair lift to the bottom of the hill it was sat on.
Golden Unfortunately it's risky to do urban exploring as a hobby, and I have yet to find a large enough gang to explore with me.
Jahbari Akua Oh, of course. Gotta go in company. Dodgy floors, and so on. Still, it's very cool. You don't really find places like this in the UK
WOW! I've heard of that place and always wanted to go there! There's a lot more to it than I thought. If I was a multi-millionaire or more I would buy that land, refurbish the existing buildings, build some more, and turn it into one of the best ren-faires ever!!
Anyone have pics of this site before everyone left town?
Rob Carstuff it’s a Renaissance faire. Kind of like a renaissance themed amusement park, but they’re usually opened only a few months during the year. No one ever actually lived there other than the entertainers, but they lived in their trailers.
There are a bunch of abandoned mills in my state that were in commission during the industrial revolution that me and my friends went through. There was still looms everywhere and the bobbin basket was still in the factory and if you went around the building itself you could find a water wheel still spinning
as a rennie this makes me sad. :(
I really like there intro song and all the photogenic shots they get
Josh is the greatest at classifying "active state" from "abandoned state". Hilarious.
Awe that whole sport or adventure thing that was a whole room filled with adorable up references
This reminds me of the movie, The Village
I'm from VA and have gone there many times while it was abandoned! Last time a drone flew over and 10 min later two trucks came looking for us!
Don't you love when you get a laughing fit in the middle of climbing something.
Always like it when more than one person goes up some really bad looking stairs. Still great job.
If the guy’s house is abandoned when he’s not in it, you should go explore it while he’s gone. LOL
That single bullet you guys saw at 6:50 is a Simmunition round in some kind of pistol cartridge. It's a ball of dense paint as the projectile that is harmless, but marks where it hits. It would be safe to assume law enforcement use that facility for force on force training to prepare for dangerous encounters.
Love your version!
So very interesting to see those lovely buildings, in Marin County we had booths, mostly covered in bright colorful fabrics with odd/ olden wares for sale, all long gone now.
Funny moment when Josh was trying to climb up:
Cody: I don't know what to grab
Michael: His ass
I was dying laughing when they said that. I had to replay that.😂😂😂😂😂
Wow, I've gotta show my cousin this one. Going to the Renaissance Festival is kind of our family thing.
2:48 Did any note notice that stain that looked like blood in the background?
I've been here many times. Always wished I had better camera stuff to record it so I'm glad y'all were able to document it! Used to love exploring it on snowy and rainy days.
"Nice place to play airsoft" YES
What a great video! it's so sad to see what can happen to a place that so many people loved , poured their hearts and souls into and the unforgettable experiences that people had when they were there. I love and go to many festivals and this is a real eye opener to keep the festival gods happy and the spirit alive. Makes me wonder why this happened to it and you guys are right . it is a magical and spiritual place for many.
Thanks for the great video.
How do you guys find these abandoned places? And where is the place in this video?
They don't like to say cause some assholes like to go and destroys it with shitty spray paint and braking things even more. Which sucks cause id love to visit these places.
+Sirfoxalot ikr I'm wondering this myself
it's in northern Virginia. not supposed to go back there unless youre apart of the hunting club . police will come sometimes to see if people are there. ive been and its great. just need to get permission
chelsea lane how do you get permission?
this looks a hell of a lot like the Renaissance Faire i used to go to in Kansas every year when i was a kid. was a lot of fun, would love to go to one again some day.
Awesome video, as always! And the music was really cool too.
"What classifies it as abandoned?" - "No ones in it." (New favorite quote from this channel)
2:55 its got that look from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters
That place would be a strait chill spot.
6:47 Simuntion training ammo
That explains the FEMA stuff.
Came to comments to see if anyone else saw that.
Probably local LE doing building clearing training
I find all these abandoned buildings calming! I don't know why though...
DAMN. This is my favorite video thus far. REALLY cool place you guys found there!
Brings back so many memories. It's such a shame what happened. For years I hoped that someone would reopen it.
Did I hear one of them get a messenger notification in the middle of the woods??
the spraypainted "x" by the door at 4:41 is an indicator that a building has been searched. They usually do this after a disaster like a tornado, flood, etc to let other rescuers know that it's clear, they will note if there were any people found, if there are hazards (electrical, gas lines, etc) and the date. My guess is they did search training out here at one point.
+Jimmy Jobs yeah, i think you are right. i saw the simunition and thought the same thing
Looks amazing from the outside! like a fairytale :)
I guess this is what a real abandoned renaissance era village would look like, since these building are supposed to be accurate.
This looks exactly like the one near my house in Virginia. Or am I wrong? btw, great video guys!
You're probably right. They are in Virginia but idk where specifically
Was I the only one thinking about how bloody hilarious it would have been if the rope had snapped when they went over the water? But that's so cool in general! Ugh I wish I lived near places like that!
Why was this place abandoned before construction was finished? Any information about this place at all??
I love your use of music. You always have the perfect songs to accompany your videos.
This is that old place in Northern Virginia isn't it? Looks familiar...
There is a abandoned Renaissance festival in Fredricksburg , Virginia but I'm not sure if it's the one in this video .
+Kevin J. I swear that looks like it, especially when you see the old boat-pirate stage.
This is the place: dcist.com/2013/11/abandoned_dc_the_virginia_renaissan.php
I walked those tracks many times making train pennies. The first building you show a full shot of was mine. The one with the copper (green) roof.
Like the music in this one!
We have an annual renaissance festival in my area and i've always wondered what it looks like when it's not in use. Seeing this video really did it for me!! Glad y'all didn't get caught or shot!
In the beginning it looks like searching for Terminus (Walking Dead)
I thought the same!!!!
I was thinking it seemed more like an episode within the past few years. Why? Because there are no walkers :) But I guess there are no cheesy junkyard gangs either. That when I stopped watching it just got ridiculous. That junkyard gang music theme was too silly :D
Love your videos guys...thanks so much for sharing.
Sad to see. I grew up in renisaunce festivals.
There are two types of explorers: Those who climb high and those who thoughtfully stay one level down to provide viewers with some fricking hilarious footage.
Josh gets stuck lol fantastic explore yet again guys :) keep up the great work :)
The music at 11:07 sounds like the music during "All Ghillied up" in Cod 4
I gotta stop gettin high and watchin these videos.
jayaye757 that's the best way to watch these videos
I bet there was a lot of happy vibes back in its glory ❤
You gut should do a 360 camera
It makes me sad to see a place like that fall into disrepair. I'm a renny and I'd hate for my home Festival to be put out of business. That looked like a wonderful location too
