christo fogui i think shogun will always be my favorite since it’s the first full album I heard from them, and I still love the songs as much as I did when I first heard them. TSATS is a phenomenal album, it’s so damn good.

Shogun is a masterpiece, even appreciated by non-Trivium fans. This song is such a fantastic opening.
Dr. Florence I think ascendancy is a masterpiece lol shogun doesn’t even come close in my opinion but hey that’s just my opinion🤷🏻♂️
Ascendancy was way too monotonous, many filler songs that sound too much alike. The overall sound on that album is still very raw and unpolished. It's #4 on my list of Trivium albums. I can see you preferring it if you really don't like the sound/genre of Shogun, but otherwise I don't think there's much room for debate.
Personally I'll take In Waves and Crusade over Ascendancy any day.

Shogun isn‘t really death metal in my book, instrumentally it‘s very thrashy while the vocals are a mix of thrash and metalcore.
I mean Ascendancy was their big release that made them somewhat „mainstream“, so obviously a lot of people have good memories of it.

Best album ever!!! Period. I can't even describe its awesomeness. All the songs are full of life and energy! Great riffs, great vocals, great drums. There is even some prog in this album. Mostly in the Shogun song. One big "Thank you, Trivium" for making this album!

Some people like Matt have a gift where they can play extremely technical music on the guitar & still have the ability to multitask & sing at the same time. I could never figure out how to get my brain to do that. I was so focused on my guitar playing if I tried to sing @ the same time my playing would suffer. Some people make it look so easy. So jelly right now ... but still really entertained. Way to go Matt. Keep it up. \m/ :)

The rhythm parts in this song are so difficult. I know because I learned a lot of the main riffs in this song and I was consistently frustrated with just how difficult it all was. And to add the fact that Matt sings and screams while he plays all this blows my mind.
