  • Hey there! This is just a quick video discussing something I have had on my mind for a while. One of the things I noticed when I began performing again, having been off for so long was that it took me a little while to get back into the swing of things. I don’t know about you, but when I’ve been off for a bit, be it from vacation, or perhaps sickness, or anything else you might thing of, I always immediately want to jump back in and start singing away. But, at least for me, that’s perhaps not the best approach:-).
With the passing of time comes the necessity of reminding the body, and the voice what they are supposed to do, and giving yourself the time to find it again. What I demonstrate here are just a few simple, fundamental, approaches and exercises I used to get myself going again. It’s not rocket science, but I found them effective, and hope you do too! Let me know what you think in the comments, or if you have any other ideas! Thanks for being here, watching, and happy singing!

I never would have thought to spend so much time just on breathing and lip trills before singing. Time to update my routine, thanks!

I see, I must spend much (much) more patience for a warming up, and not immediately start with high notes! I will try it and hope, my voice will thank me for it :)

Thank you! I am basically chronically ill with infections. Unfortunately, that means I just can’t sing some days. I’ve always wanted to know how the professionals handled it when they couldn’t sing for a few days.
I’m never quitting because singing opera is therapeutic to me (I hope that doesn’t sound arrogant. It’s just that when I sing, I can forget about the pain for awhile.)
Could you and/or Soula please make a video about learning your first aria? I’ve only done art songs and my roles have been supporting ones that don’t really focus on me. But my teacher assigned my first aria and I’m nervous!
    Thank you!

    Hi, thanks for sharing 🙏
I always wondered how opera singer would sound in the street? Will it be the similar projection like at the theater or its kind of normal human volume?
