Great video! Have to laugh because I just finished a long edit from Overlook Barn and now I see it again haha! Also a question - I love the idea of the story session, but I'm wondering how you fit these in your schedule?
Your #1 tip is the reason why I refuse to outsource the editing of my videos. I spend time with my clients and try to know them. An editor who didn’t spend time with the couple can’t tell their story the way I’d do it. It’s just impossible. They have to rely on what they get in the raw footage. I rely on what I gathered when we had coffee with them at Starbucks. #1 tip is the most important key. Without this key, editing is just a mechanical cookie cutter process.
Totally respect this approach! Your right, you will see the story differently since you have that personal connection with the couple. I struggled with this as well, but delegation is incredibly useful and Im learning how to get better at communicating the creative direction instead of using non verbal instincts when editing. It's a great skillset that has really helped me both on decreasing my backlog and learning how to take a creative director role inside my business.
Great great great tips! One of the best channel out there about genuine wedding filmmaking! 👏🏼

Overlook is gorgeous! I film the story sessions a month before the wedding or after the wedding depending on the couples schedule.
Great advice 👏👏
Appreciate you! Glad this was helpful in some way.

When will we see your masterclass on wedding videographers?
Working on it currently
@@WaywardNorth When will be ready? Will you also include Final Cut Pro wedding editing? And also what gear to use?
I am having a hard time letting go of 50fps , for slow motion....pff
@@cezar_visual_artist it’s not easy! I also struggle some weddings
@@WaywardNorthyou always will be like never knew when I’ll need to slow it down but it comes down to a mindset and intentionality
