Yooo I'm about to shoot like 3 weddings completly solo and I was looking for some new video about this and look at what comes to my feet. Thanks Matt you always come with amazing content. Keep doing bts!
Awesome stuff guys!..yes that would be great to see for Justin's BTS..the perspective from one end to the other type of "styles" and "setup".."solo" and "non solo" weddings..thanks guys!..
This was a great solo shoot video. Thanks for all the unspoken tips for a first timer videographer. Learned lots just watching what you actually do and when.
I loved watching this style video. do it more often what lights did you use on the inside of the venue.. I learned a lot from you over the years thanks
Hi, watching how you shoot, I envy you for such easy weddings, where you have time to shoot everything without a lot of stress. You should come to Croatia, so you can see how weddings look here, it's like being on vacation at your place, compared to what I'm experiencing here, working for over 30 years solo :) I appreciate your feedback on the equipment, and I believe you. Continue with a great work !
No way! haha I JUST made my Solo Wedding kit video a few days ago for Photography. I can't to drop my Solo wedding kit for videography this Friday! love it! Hopfully one day I ill bring someone with me to shoot my solo BTS!
Hello, I’m Mike. I was happy to see this video; I really liked the way you worked, especially the additional lighting at the banquet. In my opinion, it definitely made the footage look significantly better. Also, may I kindly ask you to tag the photographer who worked at this event? I’m very interested in following her. Thank you."
Great content Matt, how would you say that RS mini holds up especially using a bigger lens like you had? I'm contemplating between that and the pro for shooting weddings mostly. Thanks!
damn love those type of videos even though weddings were i work are much different, but its nice to see solutions and workarounds of others, even better the best ones, hehe. what lens are you using in the last part that you said the f4 got you a bit anxious? it seems like a g master but which one? and lastly the part with the 51000 iso was that on slog3? for real? thanks for the video guys
some interesting things I noticed: I've never really seen Matt outside of RUclips on a real shoot but it's pretty grounding to see him just be another guy that films weddings. If I'm hearing this correctly during the DJ setup he's needing a 1/4 to XLR cable that he literally collabs with Kondor Blue to sell but doesn't carry with him on his weddings days?.. I was surprised to see him not match the color temp of the ambient light in the venue. idk if the lights he was using were only daylight balanced but I think it would've made the video nicer to not have mixed lighting if I'm the one lighting up the dance floor. I can't believe Matt doesn't use timecode when he's peers with Justin Porter. Only using Tascam DR-10s with the original lav mic is crazy to me considering how many subscribers Matt has and yet hasn't invested back into his business on the audio end. Even something like the Deity PR-2 with the Deity W.Lav Pro would be a major improvement over the DR-10s in terms of battery life, ergonomics, and quality. It was kinda nice to hear he was using f/4 glass to film a wedding to eliminate some G.A.S but I'm on the side that the f/2.8 would improve the visual quality of a wedding film due to the extra stop of light. I understand going with a light setup but I'm more on the Justin Porter side of things where I will go through any means to deliver the best quality possible. Overall these are just observations and thoughts to open up some discussion and I really liked this behind the scenes video seeing real videographers at work instead of another "no money exchanged hands" gear review.
Can you dive a little deeper into how you set up your audio at the ceremony to get the best high-quality sounds? It would have been great to get a closer look at how you used the splitter and to see some other ideal situations.
Hey Matt, loved your video on filming a solo wedding! Quick question: Noticed you requested to film the groom early in the morning, which resulted in great footage, but I noticed most of it was without a photographer. How do you approach situations where you have this unique content, but the photographer isn’t there to capture those moments? Any tips for ensuring a cohesive story for both video and photo? Thanks!
I absolutely love these videos!! Just wish I was able to find more info on the photographer as well. As someone who does both I’m always curious on how the Full day was captured. Both photo and video. Maybe I’m missing it but doesn’t anyone know where I could find that too?
What time do people get married over in the US? you seem to have a lot of time to set things up pre ceremony. I'm in Ireland and Ceremony is usually 1pm and the morning is racing around like an idiot and getting to the chapel 5 mins before the bride to set everything up. We don't have first looks over here either or exits.
How were you two set up for audio? Was it wireless packs or more trusty dr10’s? With so many takes and shots I wondered if you were using a wireless system.
@@whoismatt I love them, and it was truly because of you that I own 2. But this leads me to another question: For a video as big as this and with so many scenes, I'd love to know how the audio searching and synching was in the editing of this video. Also, did you clap each time you hit record or just let the computer do the synching? I guess what I'm saying is, the making of the making of was just as interesting.
Gimbal can handle the weight typically when changing diff focal lengths. Most balance in the middle then zooming out or further in the gimbal will balance
Now, is Matt just really short, like me or is that photog just tall? Also, can we get a montage of Matt saying "we're making it work"?? 😂😂 Right now I'm a hybrid shooter. It's tough to do! Have you done any hybrid shooting? Tips? How do you feel about the veil over them? My second shooter has done that at several weddings we've shot and I find it hit or miss. I know light is everything, are you super cognizant of your lights and show them in the video? Last thing, If the couple is okay with it, as well, are we going to get to see the finished product!?
Hey Matt love the BTS! I'm curious.. I have yet to light a reception and I was wondering if you ask for permission to do this or if you just go with it regardless. I'm always worried about messing with the experience of the rest of the guests so I was curious how you handle this?
I also primarily shoot alone so this video was insanely relevant lol. It's literally impossible to have a wedding without at least one curveball (Mini 3 Pro took a swan dive last week, DJ was a no show before that). Single locations are a life saver. Have you found any solution on location for bad light flicker/banding? I've had a few especially bad ones that no amount of editing (and I did straight up frame by frame tracking/depth mapping/relight on one) can fix. The one I just shot had string lights all over that had an insanely slow flicker, so I blasted the entire room with my Stella Reflex which helped, but really isn't ideal for the Iowa crowd that gets mad at the sun being in the room.
I see you used auto focus to shoot this wedding. Do you always use auto focus, have you ever missed important moment due to sudden focus jump or something like that?
just thinking why wedding videographer always dreaming of making video looks like a movie, cine tone, log3 etc...but no matter what kind of LUT still it doesn't look like a film, maybe just buy a RED camera and it will be like a film
This is the collaboration I’ve been waiting for 😂
Matt Johnson AND Justin Porter?...In One Video?!!!!! = AWESOME!
Matt Johnson, curing our imposter syndrome one video at a time.
Thanks for all that you do!
I am solo 9/10 weddings yet here I am watching this :) Proof that great content is King and everyone wants to spend time with Matt’s beard! :)
This was a very fun video
Matt Johnson AND Justin Porter??? this is just amazing. Great video by the way guys
The Ultimate duo Matt and Justin! y'all need to do more videos together

Yooo I'm about to shoot like 3 weddings completly solo and I was looking for some new video about this and look at what comes to my feet. Thanks Matt you always come with amazing content. Keep doing bts!
I was smiles throughout! Loved this! More please!
By far, the best bts ever. You two are the best duo on RUclips!
I would tune in every week to watch Matt's reality film making tv. The best RUclipsr 👌🏼
matt loves justin and vice versa. love stories are always beautiful
We need more of this duo. This is so awesome love it
The eye-bounce is strong with this one. Well done sir.
10/10 video. We need episode 2. BTS for Justin.
Also how was the vendor meal? We need vendor meal reviews at least 15mins 😂
This is an amazing video!!! Love y’all’s personalities. It’s great.
Awesome stuff guys!..yes that would be great to see for Justin's BTS..the perspective from one end to the other type of "styles" and "setup".."solo" and "non solo" weddings..thanks guys!..

I loved watching this style video. do it more often what lights did you use on the inside of the venue.. I learned a lot from you over the years thanks
I did a wedding photo and video + livestream by myself with a drone flying while the bride walks down the aisle.. i think that was my limit..
Who can afford to hire a second? I only shoot alone. Plus you're never alone when you have a photogra- I can't say that with a straight face 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge Matt.
My goodness I love Justin Porter
Complete gem of a video. ❤❤ thank you
4K 60 Babyyyyyy
Filmed my first wedding solo on last month on the 19th! I was looking for this video! You must have dropped right right after 😂
I love this collaboration.
Awesome! Funny to see how many creators know each other in real life
Bro the quality and reach on that 24-105, I had no idea. My 28-75 just not doing it anymore.
Proud of you, old friend!
6:00 Justin Porter switching to Sony, CONFIRMED.
😂😂😂😂 hes too far gone

great stuff! super helpful. did you really need that gimbal tho? those handheld shots looked great.
No way! haha I JUST made my Solo Wedding kit video a few days ago for Photography. I can't to drop my Solo wedding kit for videography this Friday! love it! Hopfully one day I ill bring someone with me to shoot my solo BTS!
I am loving it!
"I hope I'm not parked illegally" has to be the most relatable comment in this whole video 😂

Matt! How hard is it to balance that lens on the gimbal? Does it go crazy when you zoom in?
I film weddings solo as well and love to see that Matt is using the same lens as me. However his footage is more sharp than mine!! How!!! 😝
This is great 😊. I learnt a lot.
Editor waday
Matt, are you 24-105 all day? Also, LOVE this duo!
Hi, please where can I find more of your recent wedding videos like this one - the final one. Thanks
Love this, thanks Matt. Quick question, do you put your gimbal in your sling bag when not using it? Or just leave it somewhere else?
Great content Matt, how would you say that RS mini holds up especially using a bigger lens like you had? I'm contemplating between that and the pro for shooting weddings mostly. Thanks!

THE GODS IS ON THE SET

🤠So entertaining video !
so from the moment you pulled up to the groom and boys to the end of reception, how many hours in total was that?
great great video by the way

I'm solo 90% of the time, i thought it was normal. Taking what i can learn from you though!
Hi Matt, is the sony a6700 good enough hybrid camera for video and photo at weddings?
“Hey guys, this is Justin, he will be doing BTS for me today”
“Oh cool, he must be new to the wedding industry and learning the business”
I absolutely love these videos!! Just wish I was able to find more info on the photographer as well. As someone who does both I’m always curious on how the Full day was captured. Both photo and video. Maybe I’m missing it but doesn’t anyone know where I could find that too?
20:00 - MATT!? Where's your cord pack!? Lol

Dr-10Ls 😁

Can the the gimbal handle zooming in and out or you’re just using it for one focal length and then turning the gimbal off for another?
Gimbal can handle the weight typically when changing diff focal lengths. Most balance in the middle then zooming out or further in the gimbal will balance
How is it with a zoom lens on the gimbal? How much can you adjust it before it's unstable?
i found that i can compensate lens extending with display pulling back and forth
Hi , with zoom how do you calibrate your Ronin? Which focal lenght?
19:52 If only you could buy an Audio Pack pouch with a 1/4 inch to XLR cable in it ;)
please provide me with your settings for your rs3 mini. mine sucks so bad, i rather go handheld.
What's the lens on your gimbal my man?
Which lens have you used Matt?
Love Squared Weddings for BTS.
Now, is Matt just really short, like me or is that photog just tall?

How many batteries did you go through on your A camera for the whole day?
What’s the best camera to start out with to film a wedding? I want to get into videography and film weddings, commercials, etc
what is your budget for camera and lens or lenses
Hey Matt love the BTS! I'm curious.. I have yet to light a reception and I was wondering if you ask for permission to do this or if you just go with it regardless. I'm always worried about messing with the experience of the rest of the guests so I was curious how you handle this?
what is the headphone u use in this video?
Won't need time code for long. My editing software already can sync clips using AI
Final video pls?
how long did the battery of dji rs3 mini gimbal last?
Really impressed by it! Ended the wedding day with 54% battery life left after using it all day
Anyone know which headset he’s using?
This is legitimately my goal lol. Where is the final edit so I can use it with couples as an example?!
Was speaking about the bathtub. Also Cheetah stands are life-changing.
I also primarily shoot alone so this video was insanely relevant lol. Hey which camera did you use?
He is using the A7S3.
Anyone know what lens he switched to for dancing?
It’s a Vintage Contax Zeiss 50mm
at first I thought this said how to film your own wedding video....lol. that would be quite the feat.
Bro!!! I laughed till died. 😂🤣 Local........ What you need to know it's cinematic Lol.
wheres the finished video?
43/45 weddings i'm doing solo mate ;)
a mini can deal with all that weight?
Anxiety at 3:34 when the lens almost hits the metal hook
What did you use to strap the mic to here thighs
Hey! I use the UrsaHealth medi-belt thigh strap.
Hold up, wait a minute…WIM doesn’t have the Kondor Blue WIM three audio cable pack for wedding film makers? 😂
I see you used auto focus to shoot this wedding. Do you always use auto focus, have you ever missed important moment due to sudden focus jump or something like that?
✌....
remember folks... don't drug and film
just thinking why wedding videographer always dreaming of making video looks like a movie, cine tone, log3 etc...but no matter what kind of LUT still it doesn't look like a film, maybe just buy a RED camera and it will be like a film
seriously i dont like the color tone, it wasn't look like a 4K, thats my old DVCam footage look like
The title of this video is redundant 😮
Lol! I didn't notice that haha
I would like to know how to film a wedding solo NOT by myself
nobody's gonna know hahahaah
