I agree 100%. When one guard doesn’t check the tourists it just makes it all the more difficult for the rest of the troops. How much effort does it take to ask the offenders to step back?
The troopers should stop anyone feeding the horses. You don't know what they are giving them it could be harmful to the horse.

I agree.....we have seen the lunatics and weirdos and just plain idiots that show up around the Horse Guard stations and I would not let them give anything to my pet or animal I was in charge of....acid, meth, cocaine, trank...just because they think it would be funny....what is going on with half the horse guards sitting there like they are lost in space?

What is the point in having a sign saying don’t touch the horse, a barrier to stop tourists getting too close and then the guard ignores them?
What is the point of having that box & guards not telling them to get out...what a waste of time that was...even when that man was in the box & grabbed the reine nothing...I think it's absolutely ridiculous
I just can't stand the morons that don't think the rules apply to them. It drives me crazy and I have to stop watching because I don't understand why the guards don't yell at them. If they don't reprimand people, they will just think they can get away with anything. I can't even imagine if we tried to do that to the Mounties here in Canada.

Where are the rules, for the white line, posted for the tourist to see? Also, coming out of the courtyard, the horse blocks seeing the posted signs.

I John, after watching 12 minutes of this. You should ask the people that step over the line. Or stand close to the horse. I even tried to touch like the little boy. The Chinese women. Like, why don't you ask them? Why did they do that? That would be really good because so many viewers. On all channels, state their frustration Also they're disgust and the fact that the guards don't do anything.

Only the first two Lifeguard troopers were on the ball, keeping people out of the box. The rest of them just sat on their horses and said nothing, even to people petting the horses.

I love watching your videos here across the pond! I was life time resident of a small tourist town and know what idiots tourists can be. It’s as a small town outside of Syracuse NY USA that sits on a lake and in summers the population doubles. Keep up the videos it’s the only way I’ll ever see London.

Shame on this guard I thought she would uphold the new rules, people have worked long and hard for these changes and these guards are allowing the horses to be harrassed and abused, they should be reported.

John, love the video. I'm happy to see many respecting the rules. But alot of Guards allowed them. Shameful that they disobey direct orders. Then others see that tourists are being allowed. So they will follow suit.

First of all, there are a bunch of like type channels with videos of the Kings Guard. By far yours is the best. You do not put misleading titles that promise interesting interactions but never deliver. Keep up the good work. The horses in the Kings Guard and the Police Force are so beautiful. I understand the desire to touch and pet them but there has to be restraint in showing respect. I do encourage the guards to get more proactive in enforcing the rules. I still say one good tap with that sword would work!!!😄

The gate is just like the grocery store entrance. People walk in and are paralyzed and gawping.

I`ve written it before, but I really thinks that all the youtubers around the Horse Guards could help by telling tourist about the "new rules", indstead of just mocking them in your videos....

John, maybe adding striped red lines to rhe white ones would help deter. Red is a universal warning to most countries.
Red lines are not allowed to be painted on pavements because they are traffic signs, just as much as the ones on poles at the side of the road. Only white lines are permissable on pavements.
Being a professional horseman for well over 45 years it takes educated hands to ride with a full bridle with two hands . Most of these troopers have not been riding long and having them ride with one hand with thick gloves is a challenge. 90% of the time that the horses are acting up the trooper has the curb rein too tight and the snaffle rein has no contact .
Thank you for acknowledging that skill comes with time and experience . At early twenties most of these young troopers ARE short on experience, but how else do they obtain it? The more experienced riding instructors and noncommissioned officers do not do guard duty.
Hi, John.I'm on the west coast canada.. I just wanted to say this is the first video of yours since the new rule, I stopped watching channels speak cause it just was too frustrating. New rules or any rules will not work if the guards do not enforce them. What really upset me was with the new rules. One of the guards I think he was in the red jackets. The lifeguards a woman came up asked to touch the horse and he actually said yes. And then she's way into the white lines. And she's touching the horse. People are so upset with some of the guards, not understanding why they don't do anything and are saying they should be reprimanded. It's absolutely ridiculous. I'm going to continue to watch but we'll see.
Here we go again another guard that does not enforce the rules. This is a reflection on his/her character and their Commanders. Not very good soldiers if they cannot follow the rules and enforce the rules.
You're not right, I don't think they are soldiers, I think they must be cadets studying to be royal guards, since they are very, very young, but they have to deal, every day, with a horde of tourists, who have left their brains at home and think that the guard with the horse is a fairground puppet put there for the tourists to take photos of and nothing more.
The fact that these guards shout at the tourists, as you want, apart from becoming hoarse at the end, is useless, since the tourists are immune to the shouts and, if the guards don't take it seriously, they will end up with a stomach ulcer.

@@carmenzaragoza4340They are not cadets, they are qualified full fledged soldiers . They may be short on experience (how else are you supposed to get it ?) but there is no such concept as cadets in the Household Brigade.

Ceremonial duties are only a part of what The Household Cavalry do , try doing some research before you spout rubbish . Including the fact that there is no such regiment as Royal Guards !

You've really got admire that chap's tenacity. He was holding on to the reins for grim death and refusing to let go despite the Guard jerking the reins several times.
For a few days after the white lines and signs, it was calm again and horses and guards looked more relaxed.
I never bash the guards, but, I have noticed several do not even bother to tell people to stay off the horse, or stay behind the white lines, and allow crowds to gather up around the horses....they sit there like they are away on an acid trip and just let the tourons do whatever they want....Half enforce the rules and half totally ignore the rules....I mean, seriously, what is up with that?
I live in America and I even know not to touch the reins…Love the Don’t touch the horse sign…..Not everyone reads English so there is no excuse anymore…..

As you saw that idiot touron had quite a grip on the reins and she had to pull on the reins pretty yard everybody complaining about shouting she has proven there is no need to shout.

Traffic regulations govern the colour of painted lines on pavement. Red and yellow lines are not allowed because they provide information for road users about waiting and stopping times. They are in effect traffic signs.

The coach driver was being respectful of the mounted officers and horses I nice to see sadly I had drivers willing to endanger riders when hacking on roads it's truly disgusting behaviour, especially if you have children and crossing roads to get onto hacking trails I think your videos are excellent I love my horses but take great pleasure at seeing the guardsmen

John, the guards must be warned or threatened for shouting the crows who broke the rules. I saw a guard literally turned his head to the opposite when he spotted the sickening individual. Please, please ask around what's the matter regarding this issue, since you are there. Yes, if you can talk with the tour leaders for answers.

Why don’t they paint the lines RED?
Because there are regulations governing what colour line can be painted and where. Red and yellow lines, designed to convey information about stopping and waiting times can be painted in the carriageway only. Only white lines are permissable on pavements.

I’ve posted my observations on another of these but you’re very astute John. Why doesn’t the sign simply say ‘do not cross the white lines’ then unless they’ve got arms 6ft. long they can’t reach the horse anyway.

The horse who got impatient had been watching the other horse as soon as the bells started to ring. I think he wanted to go be with his friend. I used to feel like that too sometimes waiting for 3:00 so I could go home; so can understand only, I would have gotten trouble if I had had a temper fit. I don't remember his name but he looks familiar and I really like him.
As I am watching the video the box ground doesn't look they renovated it with all the new poop on the freshly renovated box.
To be clear 'Grinning Idiot" can be either formally trained and certified OR apprenticed. Some even inherit the title in trad UK fashion.
I don't think the women guards are as imposing or authoritive looking and don't really say anything when the tourists come to near which they should, thats why the tourists do not take any notice, this woman Guard is allowing them to do as they like😮

Irish Draught/Thoroughbred cross, specially bred in Ireland for the Household Cavalry, by selected breeders. 😊
