- Whats wonderful about the t 28 prototype?
Not bloody much :(
In a rare moment of madness i decided to actually try to play this tank. its one of the most free exp'd machines in the history of free exp. With a top speed of 18kmh that is rarely reached. Traverse that is glacial, and armour thats fantastic as long as the opposition only shoots at you front the front and doesn't have any ammo that pens more than 200mm.
I mean the guns ok...but .39 dispersion and a 2.9 second aim time are not exactly leopardesque gun handling numbers.
The tank does have a strong turret and 10* of gun depression but so often its unable to take advantage of these traits because it is in fact a slower tank than a MAUS with very very similar traverse numbers.
So how do you play it to be successful? Well i'll let you know when i figure that out :)

I gotta say that this tank is better now that heat has been changed and the proto's speed has been buffed. I don't know if it would warrant a re-review but I found that this tank in a beast now.

Finally one of my fav td branch. I just finished t28 prot. and bought the t30 like 2 days ago. T28 Prot is sick man! Unreliable, but trollish armor, great dpm, great pen. Overall a very great TD

I agree, these American heavy TD's are too sluggish with poor acceleration. WG should buff the T28, T28 Prototype and T95 by giving them a new Ford GAC engine with 650 hp. (That's the same power that the British AT 15 gets.) It would be a 140 hp increase on what they have now, and should give them a better hp/ton ratio.

This shit does like 4000 dpm, has great armor, good accuracy, and accuracy on the move. This tank is nightmare for tiger2
i think they are relying on real life statistics but i also think they made up the dmg per minute thing.
so basically it's only down side is low traverse speed and slow.
I can work with that as long as it ricochets and has good front armor
well no. the armours not good because the tanks so slow once you run into anyone that shoots pramo they just pen you, and you can't get into cover quick enough to negate that fact. 203mm of frontal armour when the worst tier 8 heavies shoot 198mm of ap pen (outside of premiums) is brutal. A bl9 on an is3 can pen your lower plate with AP :(
So I shouldn't continue down that line? I'm about to buy T25 (one right before jt) I just need some garage slots

Sorry to say, this video leaves me wanting. Wanting more tips and less complaining. Fact is we have to use it to get to the T30. It's for sure a slow grind to the top gun, and the slowest tank on the battlefield. But some constructive tips would have been nice. Way back when you disliked the Panther. But you came back to it recently and liked it very much and gave great tips for its use. After waiting so long for this review, I had hoped for more. Sorry Bushka.

not sure what you're talking about mate. I'm having a decent time in my proto right now grinding for that lovely 155 and it does work when i apply it. first like most heavies supremacy is really nice to it, just roll to heavy cap and hold it, second don't sidescrape in it, the side armour is paper unless you autobounce it will be penned, just wiggle the front at the reds, keep the sides hidden as much as possible. unless tanks start loading premium you will bounce just about anything tier 8-9 with a nearly flat glacis plate.
i hate is3 defenders because all are heat noobs
they are op and I purposely aim at them
i give them nothing but HEAT if i have it, even if i could easily pen them anyway.

You can snipe them with su-152 youse he on their sides and front angles i do about 600 damage for eachvshot
When blitz was first released I played this tank a lot and enjoyed it (64% win rate). I tried it again recently and like Bushka I found it very hard to crack 60%. I think the main problem is the speed of blitz now. Back at launch you could lumber up to a side scraping or hull down position with the heavies and duke it out for most of the game. Now most heavies in t8 games are fast is6 or is3d tanks. Heavy tank choke points/one lines are rarely even contested in current blitz games.

That's why it's a prototype, it was a blueprint, so they decided they'd lose the turent, to make the t28 they much better tank. Lol.
Actually I'm pretty sure these tanks never existed. The standard T28 was in fact a blueprint. And the t28 proto is a tank that WG created themselves

the t28 proto never existed on blueprints. WG made it up. They got the idea from the T28 concept which actually existed on blueprints. The T28 existed in real life cause its just a t95 with its extra tracks taken off.

It's funny. I did the whole stock grind shibang with the Prototype (although I did unlock the 105mm on the T25 AT), and I ended with 1800 average damage with a 65% winrate (57% survival) going through from start to finish to the T30. The T28 forces you to be at the front of the line in the average battle where both teams push blindly around the map, and you can pick off medium tanks as they push in, and their heavies take a long while to show up or get held behind by the team's meds and lights

I think its the best tier 8 td. Big damage. A nice reload speed. Good armor. Decent mobilty

I can see were you are coming from bushka. But I 100% disagree with u I love this tank I think the problem u have is the play style is so unique I takes so long to master one of my last games was a 5.8k damage game with seven kills. But keep up the good work

+Bushka on Blitz Hello mate! Long time viewer and subscriber here ... ik you think differently but I love this tank. The second and top gun are amazing and I angle the front armour all the time and I get plenty of bounces. Speed is a setback but other aspects of this tank are great. Anyway, nice work with the channel, keep it up bushka

Edit: I also like destroying the ballsy is3’s on this tank, and its no problem when I have team on the look out
Bushka - I am in the middle of my T 28 Prototype grind for the T30, and it is the second time (first on World of Tanks) that I have hated a grind so badly that it actually slows it down to nearly the speed of the tank. What I mean is, I don't always want to take it out and TRY to get the X2 done in it, but alas, I HAVE to in order to get past it. Yes, all of my platoon mates cringe when it is time to carry me whilst I'm in my T 28 Prototype.

Ignore EVERYTHING he is saying, this is hands down in my opinion one of the BEST tier 8 heavies... It has an outstanding gun, there is nothing wrong with it, alpha is great, reload is outstanding for a 120mm, it has amazing penn like the IS-3, but it is so much more accurate, it has 203 i think mm of angled armor at the front on turret and hull which will be a difficulty for most tanks of that tier and even higher, yes it may be slow af and it may have weak sides but if you are hull down or angling well you can obliterate tanks, its positives completely overmatch its downsides
unless they are on your sides in which can they can pen you with HE and they can ignore you until the end because ...you can't fight if you can't see em :(
well mostly your hulled down in cover and they are infront of you also most tanks cant penn u with HE on the sides only like 122mm and bigger and thats with a perfect 90 degree angle so if you angle that 203mm of armor and only let them see your front you can use that devastating gun to obliterate them
Buska I loved the t28 prototype I had a 68% win rate with it and I never had a problem with it. It's gun is insane dpm machine for tier 8 and owns is3's. But I guess the metta has changed to where it's play style isn't as good as it was but I would think a player like you could get at least a 60% in it.
Maybe I was good with it cause before I got the prototype I had the original t28 and the t95 some of the slowest tanks in the game

I think it's a great tank when you're aware of the armor profiling and what it's capable of withstanding. Personally I had a great experience with the tank. Turret allows you to prioritize between targets (depends on the lineup I guess). You can face the enemy head on and kill the weaker potential flanking opposition as they try to circle you (optimum performance would be at medium range). Slow tank means more strategical play. Long distances make the tank a hassle for the enemy to kill. Great video btw bushka. Good thorough analysis.
I agree.. In many ways, playing a slow tank requires you to be more thoughtful and strategic, because you have to make decisions well ahead of time..
The issue I really have with slow tanks like this is the lack of options.
+Bushka On Blitz lol hey bushka!! You're right, tank's a bit of a no hopper. The pros I mentioned only really apply to a set of specific scenarios anyway. That was just how I thrived with the vehicle; either slow systematic plays or sheer luck. I know you enjoy a killer medium (I mean, who doesn't?) and you're a strong creative player so I won't bash you for hating the damn thing. Keep the content coming, cheers

BUSHKA i took it to my self to grind through this tank and I've come to love this tank I've carried 1 on 4 games in this tank because of the dpm I actually really love this tank and still play it after I've used it to get the regular t28 and the t30. You should look at this tank again because of the speed buff

I suffered so much with the
t28 to get the t30, but im grateful for how powerful the t30 is
when I first encountered one in my tiger two I thought he'd come put to attack me as I was a one hit but noticed he didn't move but his turret was and he made no effort to come and attack me so I poked out and shot at hit turret ring, even though it was red i penned it with standard ammunition and killed him and completeted the game... GG proto player.
I finally got a tiger 1. I have 3 tier tens and don't plan to progress to the e100 but I feel the historical significance requires that you research in blitz if you are dedicated to the game. Also greetings from STORM on the NA server
I don’t really agree that winrate defines your entire skill, average damage and average XP are more important for that, but I disagree with winrate because it is technically impossible for everyone to have above 50% winrate due to the nature of percentages. For every player with a 60% winrate, there is someone with a 40% winrate, so I don’t understand why lots of people think it’s the most important statistic.
it has 200 frontal. i dont think any tier (anything above 9 and 10, unless 8 player has apcr) can pene u, ive always pointed my tank at them and i bounce every shot. but ok i guess luck... rngesus isnt with me today so i worshipped satan in that tank lol
mate a type 62 can pen it frontally using prammo...a tier 7 light tank.

Always makes me laugh when people say gold ammo,isn't it to improve your tank characteristics ,that's why we use provisions etc same thing if you think you need it use it,,,,simples.

bushka i was one that asked about the t28 not the t28 prototype and hey you got a turret so you had a lil advantage in your battles.Try the t28 when you have no turret and you dont have a platoon partner.But you were so rite with the stuff you said lol hahaha funny stuff.But i dont feel like doing the grind on this tank after wasting my free xp on the cannons and engine now i gotta do the 165k for the t95

The one thing about the t28proto is that it's slow but when u get the engine and tracks upgraded it's not to bad it has decent armor but it's not the best tank at all
If you have stock engine on this tank, you will go 1 km/h.

I don't screen record with an app mate I stream it to pc
I feel the T28 Prot's speed is a big issue. The stock grind was brutal going 4 km/h and upgraded it goes 18 km/h. This is just too slow to really be a dynamic player. It does have nice damage and penetration if in the right situation. Some guys get mad at me for being so slow, but you do your best.
In my opinion,
the T28 prod is one of the best tanks in Tier 8. done 5000 damage and 2 kills

Review is on point. Normally, I'm cool with tanks that are slow because it helps to keep me from accidentally playing too aggressively, but the t28 proto is just to darn slow for my taste.

Review the t25/2! Not as slow and has well over 2000 dpm!
I have this tank, and it's speed (or lack there of) is painful
Its ok.. but the only thing that severely bring this tank down for me is the speed..
im using it right now and boi i got a lot of hate mail coming to me every end of match
I don't get it, this tank feels like the best thing since sliced bread, I didn't free xp anything on this beautiful monster. the 90mm gun fires fast enough to keep anything perma-tracked but lacks some penetration, the 120mm is a massive rail gun of a thing and it pens great, the 105 is he best of both worlds, with good rate of fire and penetration. This thing is also a snapshot machine, you can snapshot anything with this thing, even across the map.
The only time you take damage is when you stick your side or rear out asking them to shoot you.

Surprisingly this is the second best tier 8 after the kv 4!!. Also quiet a lot of people play it!
I knew even before this video this was a tank i didn't want, so i basically stopped leveling that tree after i got the t25/2. And even that tank i wasn't all that impressed with. I feel like after the hellcat, the line goes down hill till you get to the t30, which is a shame because i really would like to get the t30 and the t110e4, but i don't want to grind through the t28 prototype.
i said it is a heavy below i know its a td but it is basically a heavy with the armor turret etc

This is tough tank to play solo, but I think it is still better than T28.
If you can rely your team to do their job it has devastating DPM to offer, but if not, it's gonna be tough. If there is something positive, both T28 P and T28 will grow your temper and character. You will put a sticker on top of that in-game chat portion to filter out the abuse you will receive. T95 is completely different since it has fairly reliable front armor if you wiggle like a madman.
Anyway, T28 P has 4th highest average WR among tier VIII TDs, so it can't be that bad. Please review JagdTiger 8.8 next so you will know what I mean ;-D
You're doing it wrong bushka. That tank is not for sidescraping cause the sides are too thin. You want to peek a boom out the front at about 40 - 45 degrees

ya i get blasted in the a$$ all the time with my t28 and i used all my free xp for the best cannon but i swear evey tank in tier 8 and 9 pen me eveytime and i stay near a wall and then i get pen'd from the side and cant do nothing so it says you got good armor and it aint
Yeah, it's also one of the few tanks I hated and sold as soon as possible.
Love the content. I know my question isn't t28 relatable but I just got the t54 yesterday and the only thing I unlocked was the turret. What should I upgrade next ? I have the 2 tops guns (62a or the 140 gun) and the engine and tracks. Any tips would be helpful thanks:)

That type 62 hit your turret not your hull. If it got the front of your hull it would have bounced.
I love the tank, its like a tortoise at tier 8 with less weak spots and a turret
well t 28 have flat armor . so all tier 8 can pen u in the uper plate . and some tier 7 can do that with al . ( panther.)
+Ady Andrey its not flat, its curved like a ramp. Normal penetration tier 8's cant pen the front, with APCR yes, but not with AP

Not that much. The Cent has super high pen compared to most tier 8 at 228 or something. The front is a semi pen for most tier 8 tanks. Unreliable and bounces often unless they use gold especially when angled. The sides are paper. That's why sidescraping is not an option in this tank. You want to peek out the nose at an angle like what you do with a T44.

Both times I have tried to grind this thing. I had to quit after my eyes began to bleed.
I'll probably be super reluctant to grind the T110E3 line for the rest of my life. And I'm gonna make sure I have some premium time when I decide to grind this tank.
Btw, it's T28, not Type 28.
John C I don't think it stands for anything. It's like asking what the T in T-44 stands for. It's definitely not Type 44...

The "T" designation in the USA meant it was a prototype tank. When tanks actually get put into production, they have the "M" designation. The T1 Heavy is a prototype of the M6, which was never shipped overseas but was nonetheless produced

And they easily pen this tank's armor cause the system showing the weak armor with the colors while aiming at this tank. If the armor system was like the PC version those enemies had to find weak spots by themselves..I want that system in Blitz..It would be more fun

ITS like driving the T110E4 with a dead driver and a dead engine. Still i think its better than the Churchill GC and the T28

Is it weird that I find that this tank excels when it is by itself against a mob of enemy heavies(take this with a grain of salt as I have a low WR in the thing)?

That is true im in probably the worst tier 7 medium and got 2 mastery ace and usualy you dont bounce at t20 but bullet just recochete

Do you think that the ridiculousness in tier 8 will ever end...always is party on the enemy team...and punch of useless med guys in my team that run brainlessly in front of them...could you tell wg to do something about it :D
its just a tough tier unless your rollign the defender or an is6. I see a lot of reroll accounts with purple win rates and mostly battles in those two vehicles :)

+Indrek Varend WG aren't gonna do anything except add more tanks to break tier 8. The T54 ltwt will be so OP, it's basically a slightly slower Ru251 with less DPM but with some armour. If you have two IS-6/3D and a T54 ltwt you'll win. Kudos to WG with their Soviet bias

Let’s be honest, most of us just need advice to get enough XP to get the T30.
Bushka at 5:43 after u missed a shot on that su-152 and u turned away he was climbing up and u turned away so he thought u gave up him and went for type 62. What you could've done there is after u missed a shot make him look like u were going for type 62 but keep the turret to su-152 and
u could've finished him. U reloaded fast enough that u could get rid of su. And u had a rock infront of u for a cover so type can't hit u. After killing the su I can't say what will happen. At least could've been a draw match if that type ran away after u killed the su.
this expert can fix ALL of your problems in Blitz - he will post-battle analyze you and make you so pro. Kappa.
