Very nice. I am a novice in tableau and was looking for videos that explain this difference. even though i saw few other elaborate videos, none were as simple and straight to the point as this one.
Hello @Malada: I have 1 doubt. I have seen practically that if I use embedded datasource for my Workbook in Tableau server then its refresh time is slightly better (by 1-2 seconds) than the case when we have same data source published separately and then used by the same workbook. Is there a reason behind why this happens?
Hi @bhuvaneshkumarsrivastava1818, When you embed the data source within the workbook, it eliminates the need for the Tableau Server to fetch the data from a separate location. This can reduce the network latency involved in retrieving the data, resulting in faster refresh times.
Nice video very helpful. I have a problem though. My client wants to have an automated Tableau dashboard. However, they only have an excel file. Is there a way where they can just drop the file and the Data source will be automatically updated so the dashboard file will be updated as well? I'm struggling with the automation part because I can't use SQL since they don't have an API. and we don't have a shared network. We only have an Active Directory that's why they can access my Tableau dashboard.
HI, i am asking this for a better understating. It would ideally be good to work on published data source so that when we save the workbook we are not duplicating the data source which saves space. will this help in any way

Nice video bro ...You published datasource two times right I mean with work book and separately so will it over write ?
No it's not going to overwrite.. what you have to do is you have to switch the embedded datasource with published data source..
