Nice job. I'm not going to do it to mine. It works great, so Ill just let it look a bit grungy. It may be that the lacquer was preventing patina formation. The only thing that I'd worry about is whether it stops there, or starts to suffer pitting.
Thank you! I agree, if it had worked I'd have left the chunky-ness stay. It had become so corroded that it was no longer making electrical contact, but I wasn't sure where so I redid it all. So far, so good, but I'm certainly on the lookout for pitting.
