Unemployment is at 3.9% it’s very easy to find work rn. I see multiple job hiring posters everywhere. Seriously we are running out of workers and I think this is perfect time for them to introduce new system. Plus they give 1 month time where payments will not be effected. Full time worker work 40hrs pw, unemployed people can at least utilities few hours pw to honour the requirements. Also, these days these systems are enforced by systems engineers who take account for world view so I am sure they are already trying to accommodate the vulnerable people in the system.

It would be funny if it was'nt so Looney.. another reason to blame the unemployed for their position in life even though there are very little jobs... I was cut off twice as they could'nt find my Dr. certificate on their file. It causes hardship when you direct debit and the money simply is'nt there.. No one will hire me as I had 2 major heart attacks this year and they know it. So now I have'nt got 20 points to get a pension. Cheaper to keep me on New Start.. Hope they don't cut me off for this. Hopefully now people who are just being lazy will decide accepting a job and actually working is easier than doing all these requirements. At the moment if you enrol in a certificate 3 in child care course and go looking you will find ten jobs in less than a day. A critical shortage in our industry.
People with disabilities should definitely have different requirements because some genuinely are not able to work and that’s fair enough.

Disability Support Pension is just that;. I’m not sure that you understand what this actually means. It’s been something that they have slowly been building up to for 15 years. Participation interviews (demanding that the disabled prove that they can’t participate in paid work, or that they enter into an employment pathway) every 6 months for example; even for those who have proven beyond any doubt, that they have no chance of recovering. Now it’s going to become even more strict. My specialists have been trying to get me NDIS help for a couple of years, and because of their automated BS; I’ve been turned down every 6-8 weeks (even when people who can function better then myself, and have family and social supports, can get NDIS no worries);.. if Centrelink now uses the same system;.. I’m screwed.

Who is paying for the cert3? Vocational courses aren't free..even if you can get a concession..Then there's the issue of getting to the actual classes if you don't have access to transport..and paying for course materials like textbooks..Some people are in a situation where they don't even have enough suitable clothing to attend a course, leave alone look for a job .

@@MickeyGee73 You can go to an op shop and get clothes for a few dollars. Centrelink pays for the course. I was on a payment for a short time used the system to get a qualification and a job now I have my diploma in early childhood paid for by my employer who will pay for my uni course in early child hood too when I start it soon. • @TWR1988

Wow; did I just read that right?
      Disabled people should work smarter?
      Disabled people are dis-ABLED.
At $300 per week below minimum wage, I think surviving on that is challenging enough.
Nobody chooses to live that way. The dole, yes; some do buck the system (that’s just unemployment without a permanent medical cause)
The disability pension means physical, and psychiatric evidence by multiple high ranking MO’s to prove that you are permanently incapacitated.

@Call Sign Bob They're a Tamil family from Sri Lanka (called Ceylon in the old days). Came here claiming refugee status, and probably thought having two children born in Australia would green light them to stay. Their Deportation Order, from Peter Dutton's office, would have been on the basis that it was now safe for them to return to Sri Lanka (after the civil war years there). Having immigrants settled in small regional areas is an interesting option for us all to discuss.
