    As for planning waste management, waste burning plant will easily clog up if output is in same place as input. I'd also recommend to do waste separation and large container transfer stations between them and on both ends - sure, metal scraps and construction waste are worth pennies, but at the same time you won't have any impurities in ash (making it not go away) and it allows to not have empty courses if you decide to import hazard waste (which gives you about 1000 roubles/ton plus whatever is left after burning that waste)
    PS. For dealing with ash, you may want to make static line delivering to number of large dumps to speed up dissipation rate

      For now, I just plan on burning everything, and exporting the ash, they will take it for less than 100 rubels for a full container. I will worry about a proper recycling setup once I have things researched. :)

    The new patch made a dramatic change (undocumented?) to snowfall: it's much less frequent. Roads in winter now spend more time cleared than not. Doesn't change the visibility issues but it's far less painful than it used to be.

      I will try to look into maybe replacing the snow texture with something a bit less glaring (maybe more of a patchy half-melted snow, not a complete cover), but no promises. I'm not really good at replacing textures in games. :)

    Love your content. Just started W&R. At first, I was put off by the auto voice. But then, there have been plenty of creators who have decent content ruined by poor speaking or recording. So this is good stuff. Looking forward to more of this channel and this crazy game!

      @@Hmuda That's great! Not only because train is best, but also because otherwise you're severely limiting how many workers you can transport around (as you know). With the new demolition mechanics it'd be more of a hassle to tear down, redesign, and rebuild later.

      If the game is speed 2, you can press CTRL+num1 and num2 to speed up even further. Just remember the warning, don't use it once you have people around. Maybe you can get away with using CTRL+num1, but I would advise against it whenever possible.

I'm thinking about the real 4 hours I have to spend waiting for all my first infrastructure to be built, with water and heating I'm very lucky to get a working republic before 1965 and then I realise I've made a stupid error and have to demolish and rebuild some of it, I think this will make the incredibly slow starts before citizens move in much more bearable

    Hello great that you start a new season. Farm fertilization requires both types of fertilizers to reach 200%. And the minimum percentage on the farm is required for the tractors to work, if it is below, the field will not be cultivated. The fields start at 70%, and when you destroy it and put another one on top it goes to 10%.

    For your towns you should build one on this side of the big river and your second later on the other side because when you will want to get ressources you will get peoples ready on both side and just have to connect both city by boats. It's will be less micromanagement later ;)

    Contemplating, instead of assigning a lot of buses to construction offices, to instead set up a temp bus stop, run a bus route to the construction area. Can use route spacing to prevent buses tailgating each other into the customs house.

      We would need to change the destination of the line constantly, which is way more micromanagement than I am willing to do. The offices takes care of it automatically. :)

    As far as I saw, modern farm setup is 3 fields per tractor+harvester and each requires 3 trucks... yet for winter, that you have none.
    Farm is placed very good, I'd suggest to export at 80%+ to the border to keep silo not overflowing.
    Your farm setup is good but way it was build, it handle no directly connected industry except meat farm. If my memory serves me correctly this whole setup will be efficient for one meat complex on full production, so it is opportunity to place later a new logistical heaven: chain of crops to main bus warehouse and then - food, alco, chemicals.textile, clothing (x2). Yes, chemicals would require additional connections to wood cutters and oil supply - but it is not require to use hauling at all except factory connections and garbage. Hide industry in the fields (2 large fields is a good distance measure, bus riding trough a fields - just a canonical image.
    ...but anyways, lack of competition makes timings unnecessary, as well as game impossibility to make set of caners ports (even for directly recording timelapses).

      I don't plan on having the other industries next to the farms, I will use trains to move the crops around. I don't even think I will export the excess, it's such a low value that I'll just use it all domestically. :)

    I will be curious as to how much it was worth spending the money on Agriculture at the beginning and not, for example, on 2-3 clothing factories. 🙂

      I did do a bit of testing before this series, and I barely managed to break even while importing crops for the food/clothing factories. So I decided to got for a farm right away.

    Another great episode as usual. Hope more than one comment wasn't annoying. Unless they changed it though, watching you delete and replace those fields knowing that deleting a field makes the area it occupied immediately drop to minimum fertility was painful! Hope it isn't too much a setback. Glad to see crops early on, being able to feed your people feels like an appropriate type of self-sufficiency to strive for, plus it will have the knock on effect of reducing customs traffic from not needing to import food, perhaps allowing you to use the space to maybe export excess clothing or to make alcohol for export.

      The field fertility thing is purely temporary, they regain their fertility over time even without fertilisers. In fact, I think we could just have a lot of fields, not use any fertiliser at all, and just rely on the natural replenishment of the soil over time. The resulting number of fields would be quite a lot, but I think it would be possible to do.
      EDIT: just checked. The big field regains about 2-3% fertility each day if left alone, which is quite a lot. I just might place a couple more fields and rely on this entirely. :D

      @@FirestormMk3 Sorry, that's exactly what I meant. Fertility recovers if the field is left empty. We can just set a fertility target of 100% in the farm building, and it will only plant the crops if the field recovers to that level.

      Unlikely. I think Bballjo did determine that alcohol is just an escape mechanism for unhappy citizens, so I would much rather give them a ferris wheel to forget their troubles than something that lowers their health if used too much. Tourists on the other hand, we don't care about those sods, just the money they bring with them. :)

    Excited. Yeah I 'start' maps with 'known' resources nearby -per my parent republic discovering and sending me out to expand our glory. At least thats my head cannon. But I don't 'use' the resource till I research to it -I might toss down a mineHead or pumpJack but not build them -just to set the location so I don't have issues with lines and such in future because the game does have its quirks.
    We all do what we want... but for me, for initial terraform. Since doesnt use that much in resources (fuel is cheap), I just go cheat mode and use the terraform tools there. SO much quicker. My time is most valuable resource in any situation.

    Too bad you're playing again without including a lot of very interesting game mechanics. The difficulty of this game stands out from the rest, which is why I like it so much.       Sorry to hear it. It's just 2 systems, water and seasons, everything else is on. Ok maybe the day-night cycle too, but that's more about visibility, and if the devs ever make weather separate from it, that one will be enabled too.

      Kind of doubt it. It's more of a dev tool for testing stuff, not really meant for players. The CTRL+num1 is relatively stable, but not 100%, so they might be able to fix that, but as I've said, I kind of doubt they will bother.

    I guess you have new filters applied to this video. IMO text's edges look fuzzy-blurry w/ those filters on my 1080 screen. So that could be scaling artifacts of browser/YT codecs. Thanks for your content, it's like mental care for me 🧠

      Yes, I added a bit of sharpening to the game, as well as a bit deeper shadows whenever possible. The game always felt a bit blurry to me, so I decided to give this reshade thing a try.

    I edited one of the game files to make the nights a bit brighter, allowing me to keep the day/night cycle (and rain). Dunno if it gets squashed with game updates though

    Great to see the 3rd season start!
    Have to say that I'm not exactly happy about the fact that resources are now locked behind research but I suppose that's real life. Having to guesstimate where the resources are makes the game (for me at least) that much harder!
    Quick question about wind: is it correct that the wind flows in one direction only? As I've seen other streamers state this as fact but I trust your commentary rather than theirs. I also wondered whether it's best the locate factories on this wind trajectory - if it's accurate - so that pollution doesn't effect the citizenship?
    Good luck for the rest of the series, I'm really looking forward to this!

      Never really worried about wind myself. IIRC there is a prevalent wind direction, but it should have pretty minimal impact on the overall pollution spread. But to really check, I'd need to set up a test of some kind, and surround it with a lot of pollution monitoring stations to make a judgement. Basically, just place industries about a kilometer away from cities, and it should be fine. :)

    I guess foreign electricity connection transformer is just part of the map. Since in this version it supposed to be gated by research (which is frustrating).

      The game would be unplayable without it. The research just allows you to build new ones yourself, so you are not restricted to the ones that come with the map.

      I already did the city planning episode, and it will be a bit dense. :P
      But, it all depends on what you consider dense. The buildings will be closer together, but they can hold less people, so the population density might be lower than usual. :D

      Yes, there is an unlimited money mode, and the other difficulty options can be turned off if you don't like a particular system.

      I added some reshade filters to it. A bit of sharpening, since the vanilla game is a bit too blurry, increased saturation for more vibrant colors, and a bit of deeper darks, so shadows are a tiny bit more prominent. I will make adjustments in E4, since the sharpening messed with the texts a bit too much.

    Interested in trying this game but the mind-numbing slowness turns me off each time. And the 'fix' of extra speed-up options nearly breaking the simulation convinces me there is no hope of improvement in this field. Still good watching you at 2x speed though.

      The difficulty is ridiculously customizable, you can turn off the realisitc mode, and build stuff pretty much instantly using foreign help.
      I don't know how up-to-date or how restricted the demo is on Steam, but might be worth a shot.

      I used to have 45 minute videos, but they were a bit too long. I was getting annoyed by the time I was reaching the end of editing, and I burned out way too fast with it. This 30 minute length is quite manageable, and I don't feel like I'm doing a chore while working on them.

    I really hope in a future update they will bring the possibilty to make Political, Goverment and Military decisions.
    After all is a game when you build an entire nation! I reallyw ant to build a Lenist-Marxist socialist republic and make some war in the name of Socialism....and maybe even have a campaign when you must re-unificate the Soviet Republics and decide if made the old comunist way or the way Lenin's dream.

      I don't know. The devs said this is the last big update, and they will only do bug fixing and smaller feature update until the game leaves early access. So this is unlikely to happen. Maybe in WRSR2. :)

      ​@@Hmuda :-( You can make it fun. Include it in the "role-play"-Part of your series, which you already include. "Let's assume the geological survey of a neighbour" :-D
      Water is quite simple, if you don't want to take too much time in the beginning, just plop down a Water Substation and a Sewage Tank near homes/workplaces and let the technical office care about the import and export of water. When industry needs direct input, just have the measurement-tool at hand while placing the sewage-stuff, to always have it run downhill.
      Seasons: Having winter makes farming more fun/realistic. With enough technical offices and snowplows it's just a minor convenience. I always set "mud roads" to zero, so they focus on my gravel-main-routes in the beginning.
