God bless you man. I have been manually having to hit "Ignore the Red Line" in multiple trains for about an hour for not understanding signals. This video is priceless.
You and bballjo should make an advanced guide that focuses more on fixing problems (greens and purples) that many run into. Include also signal and track patterns for upgrading working rail for those that don't autobuild. How to design RCO layouts (although bballjo has a good guide on that) on complex networks.
Yes, I would really appreciate that too. I have the problem that two double-track T-sections are arranged directly one below the other, and the trains just don't run, even though the way is clear. What does it mean when a signal is yellow?
@@Kamik_ze as far as i observed it, it means that another train claimed / reserved this block for it or is in his queue (i guess it has something to do with chain signal into bi-directional track)
I watched this before I started play to get basic knowledge and understood enough to get going. Now, after becoming familiar with the game, I'm watching again because I have the appropriate contextsnow. This is very, very helpful.
This is the first video I'm actually commenting on for Workers Resources (and I've watched so many) because you've done an absolutely fantastic job in editing it. I get the impression, you actually wrote the script for it too so it flowed effortlessly without any 'Ummms' and 'Ahhhs' which so many others have. Most people who do videos on here will upload a 45 min video when there's only about 10 mins of useful information, so I genuinely appreciate your efficient methods! It can be very frustrating listening to people waffle on about nonsense when all we want to do is get the information we need! I think you will definitely do well if you make efficient and informative videos like this, especially with the added annotations because it makes everything much clearer and concise, and this is what people really need right now. Once again, well done my friend. I don't know if anyone really sees the effort and time you've taken to make this so practical and useful, but I certainly do and I am sure many others will but might not comment!
Yes, speech synthesis has gone a long way. Can still detect it by lack of variation in voice modulation, pauses and emotion. The AI also doesn't do any contextual emphasis. But it is pretty good already. Wouldn't let it read Shakespeare - but who would want to hear that anyways...
I just watched the first 2 minutes so far but you are the first person that explained the colors. Thank you! I always thought they were random. I am sure I'll learn something here as I can't figure out the signals. Now, on to watching the rest of the video. 😀
Thank you so much. I finally reached a point in realistic where my Republic is big enough to NEED trains, definitely not optional, and it's just become micromanagement hell because I didn't understand how to set things up well. I had a very simple rail line right near the border with my first clothing industry, but as I tried to expand the network inland to second and 3rd industries it just wasn't working smoothly at all. I'm thinking about restarting on a new Republic with this in mind, as my entire goal was to survive long enough to learn the early game and it's systems well, and I think I've done that much at least. Now that I have a better idea about rail I can plan my next Republic with better rail infrastructure accounted for, and I won't hit this log jam. I'd rip out the track and try again, but I just didn't even set up my industries in a way where I have room to do it right. Lesson learned!
ok there are alot more questions when you have 2 trains using one unload/reload point. like what makes the in or out of a junction because the junction is both???? it is Y with 2 tracks coming to 1 and the 1 splits back to 2 after the unload in this case. no mater how I set the signals 1 train get caught trying to leave. I have almost 2 days trying to figure it out. Than you add in different color tracks and you dont want to be purple. All my tracks are purple unless I add a swith....Head is spinning
This tutorial was helpful although I still can't do trains. I do everything by road instead because I can't understand the signals fully. It would be nice if they had a mod that just allowed trains to go through each other. I'm not willing to put in the hours of studying and experimentation needed to get a railway working properly. That is work stuff, not gaming stuff.
Great video, very well explained. Might be time to redo the signals in my republic :-). In the roll-in roll-out station, what is the use of the chain signals at the end? Why not normal signals, allowing trains to depart earlier?
Thank you. :) Which place exactly? If you mean the two chain signals right after the station, then they are not strictly necessary, two regular signals in their place and leaving off the "exit" signal for that particular junction would give the same result. Trains wouldn't be able to leave any sooner, since one of them would still have to wait until the first train gets past the queue signal at the middle of the leaving track before they are allowed through. I just tend to reflexively put chain signal at the entrances and regulars at the exits whenever I build any form of a junction. Even if not strictly necessary in some circumstances, they don't hurt either, so might as well. :)
@7:30 still don't understand why you would use mixed signals instead of the normal chain/normal signal combo. Chain makes sense, it checks the next TWO segments. Normal checks the next ONE segment. But mixed? What does it actually DO?
Mixed signals are the combination of a chain and a regular signal. Since we need need chain to be pointing toward the junction, and the regular away from it, we can use mixed signals if we want that piece of track to be 2-way.
EDIT: I'm the owner. You must mean my previous version, made with the old UI. This is a new version, since the developers have released the new user interface to the test branch on Steam. You can still find the old version here: ruclips.net/video/5qJhBtmyCc8/видео.html Thank you for looking out for it, but don't worry, the old obsolete version was simply delisted from search results, and now this is the current version. :)
O que eu não gosto desse jogo é que as cidades são muito no meio do mato. Tudo parece uma vila rural (não me interessa caso fosse assim na antiga URSS, não vi graça no jogo ser assim).
So 2 days trying to build rail and I've come to one conclusion: Rail just sucks in this game. I've built all sorts of setups and the trains just REFUSE to use common sense even when the semaphores are set up to allow them to do certain things without conflict. Like turning the hell around. They won't do it - even if you give them clear track and crossovers with clear signals. They just sit there and go back and forth like idiots.
That was very helpful. *Goes back and deletes 50% of my old railway line*
Really liked your videography! Keep it up!
Thank you, and I really appreciate the share. :)

This is by far the clearest video on railway signals that I have found so far! Thank you!
Great video! This is the first video I have seen that explains signals in this game in a straight forward yet comprehensive manner. Well done.

Looks like I had figured all this out by myself by just messing around in the game. Good to know I haven't missed any important detail :)

Another tip I've found is looking at Factorio train tutorials. The systems are similar enough in most cases that the information is interchangeable.
Clear & concise. Bballbago could learn a thing or two from this approach!!
This is the very helpful! Now I can't wait to get my trains up and running. This is a must watch for every new player.
Love to see you building your republic. Even if it is a speed build and/or without commentary.
Thanks so much for this...I struggled trying to figure signals out, even after watching other videos. This one did the trick, I'm good to go!!
Great explanation of the various signals, thank you
this is one of the best tutorial videos ive seen/heard - thank you
Well made videos, very solid and easy to follow. Appreciate the time you have put into them
Thank you very much🤗 best explanation on signals so far
Thank you so much. It really helped and you explained it so well.
This helped! Three golden rules make sense. Cheers comrade!
Great video I understand signals much better now, also I now know why my trains get stuck at stations thanks
Great video i learnt alot, I kept having problems with my train network but this helped me fix all the issues i had.
Nice tutorial, I see it's similar to Factorio.
this game mechanics are so real man like wtf i'm not a machinist
Thanks bro! This is what I call tutorial
I liked random train takes at the end
I'm more fascinated by the video aspect ratio.
It's just 21:9, also known as "ultrawide". Switching from regular 16:9 to it was one of the best decisions I ever made. :)
@@Hmuda Fits my screen perfectly :D
great explanation!
5:51 In this case, you'd use chain signals to separate the junctions.
Really useful, thank you.
Nice, very useful!
Pretty good. Thanks
cool video, much appreciated )
man i fucking love u again u saved my lifeeee thx so much
TY for this!!!
didnt the devs change the RR system, with no chain signals needed now?
I could be mistaken....

Try ships. They can also handle large volumes, although are slower at moving.

This was about 6th srwr train video I watched but it was best this far. Maybe I get those working... maybe
Traons can really take joy out off this game. Management is really painfull but trucks aren't enough but they drive without of problems.
thanks

i will never understand these trains, they could just make so you click here and here and u have a working railway
