Respect my friend. My pops had a 72, 78, 84, 89 K5 series and this is all I know from a truck that will take on a 10 mile 5% grade Catskill logging road to our country house and not even break a sweat. One of the last true iconic vintage best trucks ever made.
Very nice job!!! Love everything about it, I would of preferred a factory style grill though since you took the time to repaint the emblems Wich was a very nice and often overlooked touch
Great video guys .I had that exact same truck 1977 colors with the trailering package .Great truck I wish i still had it .Still have emblem and the sb 400 .
This video gets me pumped to start working on mine. I'm starting with a much rougher project but I like a challenge and if I don't save it it's going to return to mother earth.
I know the longer you wait, the more work it becomes. It's only human nature too if a vehicle sits in your yard too long and doesn't get worked on, and it ends up getting towed away. Don't let that happen to yours. What year truck and package do you have ?
@@CavanalK5 yup! I think 89 was the last year for the square body silverado. 90 and 91 I believe were still square body but only in the stripped down versions like the Cheyenne
jewllake nope, they had the Silverado package through ‘91. The stripped down versions had a two-headlight option kind of like the work truck of the 88-98 pickup. Saw many of those in the police/fire community. And the others kept the four-headlights that were side-by-side. Hard to beat these old trucks!
@@CavanalK5 ah, yes now I remember. Didn't the 90-91 have the newer redesigned sport mirrors? I always liked the old dumbo ear mirror style better, but took a liking to the newer style mirrors later. I have an 06 Yukon 5.3 4x4 with the 4.10 ratio and every option in the book. It is a great truck, but would trade it off for a mint late 80's early 90's K-5!
jewllake yep and option for power. My 88 still has the chrome manual mirrors. Not the tow style like in the video though. She sat for several years so I’ve been working to get her back to beauty. Just need mo dolla! My moms got an 04’ AWD Suburban. Great truck with plenty of power. Little things breaking first like stereo, trim, window motor, AutoRide system, good clearcoat . But the drivetrain is solid. Almost wish she’d buy another so I could rob the 5.3 and trans for a swap.
was carrying a large heavy box home once, tight against tailgate. Went to open tailgate and couldn't get my hand in to pull handle, had quite a fight to get it open.
Man I been looking for one for a while now. My dad had one when I was a kid. I’m in the Chicago area idiots down here use those big trucks for another reason.
There was a hard deadline for the initial assembly of the truck and the video for use at a car show. Some additional work like that was done off camera after the fact. The AC was a matter of the owner's choices. He was trying to match the original truck he had back in 1978. Thanks for the questions.
The grill NO like! Should have installed the original. I've use to own just like it all black inside and out with the mag wheels. Best off road vehicle back then. I remember going a lot to Big Bear lake and do off road. Sold it and now days with those prices I regret doing it. It was perfect in/out. With 87K miles on it.
Born in 79, but I can't get enough of these K5s! Just love the looks - everything new today looks like a damn egg!
Had a 78 and drove it into the ground. Made a lot of memories and maybe a kid or 2 in that thing.
Looks like it came from the show case room at the dealership.....am glad to see people bring old vehicles back to life.....damn good job!!!!

I wish I had this much TALENT. My poor old K5 will never be right.
Excellent Job. Great attention to detail!!!! Looks BEAUTIFUL!
1989 Suburban here but I cannot afford a complete resto. Great video !!
Wow.... beautiful job on a beautiful Blazer...👍
Very nice job!!! Love everything about it, I would of preferred a factory style grill though since you took the time to repaint the emblems Wich was a very nice and often overlooked touch
Just bought one can't wait to start working on it
WOW! That was a lot of work! The parts I liked in the video were the mirrors, windows, lights, and tires!!
Love it! Nice job with the paint. I’m not a huge fan of the full-time 4wd, but other than that it’s identical to the one I’m working on
Great job guys! I had a Blue and White 1976 K5 Blazer Chey.Pkg. Never should have sold it!
That's when they made blazers back in the day
Wow. What an incredible piece of work. Well done.

Nice! I love the 74-89 K-5's!
jewllake 73-91 was this squarebody style. 73-75 had a full removable top. 76-91 had the half-cab top.

LMC truck has everything you need
Yes
What was the highest trims on the 79 k5? Silverado?
Cheyenne was the top trim package in "79 for a Blazer, and for the pickups it was Silverado.
Needs factory grille & wheels brah
why not clean up steering column?
Or install Vintage a/c
