As a day 1 player who was played every single tour and still playing, the one thing I will never forgive this game is the imbalance of alternate Costumes. As a Bowser fan, it's sad seeing Bowser only having 3 alts while Mario has 20+. Many characters don't have a single alt while others only have the lame gold alts. It got pretty lame and infuriating seeing Mario Luigi and Peach getting all the alts while Bowser, Jr, Wario, and Donkey Kong only got less than 5
Fr, there's a strong bias towards the Mario bros and Princesses (probably due to popularity and the princesses being fun to dress up because they are better looking i guess?). I'm assuming that humans are easier to design outfits for, but giving Bowser Jr and DK only one alt is just criminal, nor does it explain only giving Wario and Waluigi two alts each when they've been in at least twice as many games as Rosalina who has like 10 alts.
Mario Kart Tour feels like Free Updates that could've been for the next Mario Kart game😮From the new cars, mii suits, characters, THE COSTUMES, the exclusive items and even the track variations for a few years. So much potential that should have been put on the switch Appreciate the booster course pass but I hope that Mario Kart X carry over that stuff lost in the mobile void 🙏🙏
I wish you had covered just how out of sync the Gold Pass is with all other price options. For $5, if you buy in on the final day of a tour, you can get all of the gold pass rewards for 4 full tours. Each tour that means: 40 rubies, 3 high-end items (sometimes guaranteed, sometimes random), 4 high-end upgrade tickets, 15k or more in coins, something like 20 or so normal pipe pulls, a whole bunch of super-tier rank up tickets, and a few other goodies for good measure. Even if you only count those 160 rubies, that's $5 and playtime for 160. How the heck are any other bundles justifiable at any level?
I'm completely blown away by how such a high quality video has so little views, even all the other parts put together have like 5k which is so incredibly disproportionate to the quality. Wow. Just… wow. Words cannot describe on just how well made this video is, even if it’s just all parts combined into an hour long experience. As someone who has played Mario Kart Tour from the very start, I’ve witnessed and been through a lot. From the good to the bad, I even took a break from the game and wrote it off as “eugh this sucks blahh!” for a time. This review is well thought out, with it pointing out valid criticism and flaws, but also appreciating the aspects that Mario Kart Tour ultimately provides. It may not be a game for everyone, but I will always appreciate Mario Kart Tour for what it provided, and will hold a somewhat special place in my heart… even through the pain. I guess. Very well done review overall. 1:14:14 I do wanna point this out for a brief bit, but I appreciate the acknowledgment on how the fanbase can be.. interesting. Yeah I’ll put it at that.
This deserves way more views, it's so interesting seeing the evolution of a mainline Nintendo game that was turned into a mobile game. The video is really well made and edited and was super enjoyable to watch all the way through. Awesome job!
I also regularly played this game for 4 years f2p, and actually a 5th year. After the new content ended, it felt like the game has been in a state of new game+ with a unique experience going for the max tier and knowing actually what tracks ranked cups will have ahead of time, among other things.

Mario kart tour is such a weird game, it looks like mario kart but it dosen’t feel like it. I actually played the game for the first year and a half but stopped cause it got bored and too money hungry. I only went back when they announced the booster course pass. I have been having fun but it comes with a lot of frustration especially when they release tracks that suck to keep combos. Also the reason you haven’t reached S ranked is because it’s locked to the subscription. In the end, my opinion of this game is: Good mobile game, mediocre Mario Kart game and bad Nintendo game Also Hello fellow giant banana enjoyer and tanooki mario enjoyer. (I wish white tanooki mario came as a costume in MK8 dx)
I remember last September going all out on Mario Kart Tour for it's last "official" tour (my wallet hated me but I did budget for it). I genuinely loved it! I've always been a fan of it, even though it was pretty rough during the beginning, I couldn't help but enjoy it. The battle minigames were the only reason I went online, especially when I could uh.. *cough* farm event tokens.. 😅 I hope they'll do something a little special for the 5th anniversary tour, to make it as fun as the 4th one was, but until then, I don't think I'm going to be playing it much. It was a "fun while it lasted" situation, but like other people, I think my focus will be on Mario Kart 8. Anywho, great video man! Loved listening to it and learning more about stuff relating to a hidden gem! 👍
A lot of the tactics Tour's gacha employed (yeah past tense is warranted) are standard tricks for gacha games. Uneven packs, adding "bonuses" to make it seem like you're getting a good deal, making it so the exact price of an item is difficult to grasp to hide the actual price you're spending, limited items to induce FOMO. From how you described it, it's clear you haven't played any other gacha game. Great job, keep it that way! Stay away from them! Sincerely, someone who's currently playing 4 other gacha games. (I never played Tour though). Those games can have absolutely brilliant story telling, music and gameplay, but the gacha will always eat away at your sanity.

(And just to be an nerd, according to datamining, yoshi's island was made before the bcp was even a concept, with the earliest stuff from it being made in 2019, and while there are some things exclusive to the 8 version, there are also some only in tour, like the different ramps being exclusive to tour, and the ice mountain in yi actually snows in tour)
Going on a bit of a rant but in all honesty, in the context of other gachas, MKT was one of the most generous out there in terms of pulling for highend/ur stuff. A lot of other games out there require 180-200 to guarantee a featured 5 star character, and then on top of that, theres an entirely separate gacha to pull from to get secondary items (weapons, gear, cards, etc.). And there's even some games out there with no guarantee after x pulls, meaning it can be an infinite drain on your in game currency. Meanwhile in MKT it was only 100 pulls, with a 10% discount for multis, and the featured kart *and* glider were included. And then it got even better once they took out the gacha pipes since you now need only 150(?) rubies to guarantee a HE character instead of triple that amount. Add in the free high ends they give out frequently now and you can get going pretty quick. It's also extremely easy to save up rubies in this game. It's been a while since i played but I believe you can get around 50 rubies a tour without GP or ranked mode. So saying if you got second both weeks of ranked, you grab 35(?) x 2 = 70 rubies additionally, now in two weeks you got 120 rubies. As long as you aren't foolishly spending rubies every tour you can easily build up a nest egg once you get going on a solid roster. This game was pretty nice but once I homebrewed my Wii and started playing mkwii on wiimmfi I pretty much cut this game cold turkey. The ability to mod these cool costumes in for free in one of the best MKs made was just to good.
25:31 your ranked opponents are unique to you, so they won't be competing against you. Therefore you don't need to try and trick them at the last minute. However you may want to wait until you see the other score to see how hard to push/invest. Also the community generally believes that if you over-cook your score (win by too higher margin) you'll have tougher opponents in the future
I played this game at launch. I thought it was fine, but it ended up being one of the few f2p games i dropped very early on, so clearly there were issues. I'd say it was worse than Fire Emblem Heroes at launch. I picked the game back up when I got a new phone on a tight budget. It's when one of the VS tours happened too, but I don't remember which one exactly. But then not so long after that, the game stopped being compatible with my phone. I finally picked MKT back up pretty much around the start of its 4th year when the Ruby pipes were removed, and stuck around up until the final tour. I enjoyed the game for what it was. It finally got me playing almost daily. Had no problems getting some of the high end characters I wanted too. I did have fun with the game, but it was definitely a bumpy ride with a lot of issues.

1:33:33 "But I have to ask, why now?" I think it's no coincidence that MKT's development and the Booster Course Pass have both wrapped up with Nintendo's next console on the horizon. I imagine their priorities have changed pretty significantly and it's all hands on deck for their next project, which one has to figure is probably Mario Kart 9.
I actually like the pipe/gacha mechanic because it gave me an incentive to play for a character I wanted, instead of save a crap ton of rubies for one item

Something Id like to note about the tanooki powerup, if you do a mini turbo and then use the tanooki, then you will remain in the speed the mini turbo gave you while the tanooki carries you, meaning you can get a big burst of speed
I really like Mario Kart Tour and play it super casually, and I think the best way to think of it is as a roguelite. Different characters have different advantages at different times, and because of that you can't use your favorite strategy/set all the time. You won't have access to everything. You're just trying to have fun with what you get, not perfectly optimize.
About the Booster Course Pass, what I followed was that the vast majority of the datamine is accurate but I predicted that Maple Treeway is moved a year early due to another Wii track making its way into the picture and I predicted Moonview Highway as I thought that Nintendo wouldn’t think that Mushroom Bridge belonged in the second half of the BCP. When Wave 5 announcement dropped, some people thought that Moonview Highway replaced Wii Rainbow Road, but most people following the datamine believes that Wii Rainbow Road made way too much sense to be excluded and thought that Moonview either replaced a GCN track or was the “canceled nitro/placeholder” track. When it was discovered that Moonview was the canceled nitro/placeholder, I thought that Dry Dry Ruins was going to get in because I thought that the reason why Nintendo moved Moonview ahead was due to another Wii track coming into the picture too with Daisy Circuit being my second guess as it seems that Nintendo I aware that Wii is seen as the favorite by the community. Ice World replacing Pipeline threw off everyone including myself, I don’t know what Nintendo was thinking as Ice World is not even a good track. Dry Dry Ruins is my second favorite track in the series only beaten by Koopa Cape so I was disappointed when Daisy Circuit was announced, but after thinking about it, it might be for the better as Dry Dry Ruins is now more likely to be in the base game of the next Mario Kart game where Nintendo would actually put effort in unlike with the majority of the Booster Course Pass.
6:08 - 6:25 If you'd like to, here's a theory of mine to explain it: As depicted in the 2023 movie, the real world and the Mario world (which I'll call Mushroom world for convenience) are in separate universes connected by interdimensional warp pipes, and there being a high chance that Mario, Luigi and Peach are far from the first people from either world to cross into the other, it's also possible that people from our world influenced cultures from the Mushroom world and vice versa across several centuries by the rare times someone from either world found an interdimensional pipe and crossed it, which lead to many places across both worlds paralleling each other like New Donk City and New York, or Sand Kingdom and Mexico.

15:50 it’s not actually that brutal. most of the games i’ve played within the past year dont even guarantee the banner character in 100 pulls. for example, one of them only has a pity system on permanent banners, where you’ll get a banner character at 200 pulls. if it’s a limited banner or you dont get the card you want, you have to then force them to “come home” (term for getting what u want). another game guarantees an epic (rarest) at 100 pulls, but it doesnt guarantee the banner card. the fact that you’re only doing 100 at worst for the spotlight driver isn’t bad compared to other gachas. tbh everything about the gacha system sounds standard compared to other gacha games :/ edit: this is excluding the shop. what is that. what. thats off putting to ME. and ive spent money on one of the games i mentioned 😭😭
While you did briefly mention that Luigi wasn't available at launch, you didn't explain why. The devs saved him for the first Halloween tour, where the gave him out along with baby Luigi and Waluigi, along with Luigis mansion and Waluigi Pinball.

I really hope that the next console Mario Kart will carry over Tour's new karts and character costumes (I think they could work as a fun unlockable, like completing a certain challenge with a certain character). It'd be a shame to see all the effort put into designing them and creating unique animations for them go to waste. It'd also be cool if some variation of the versus tours came back for those with a Nintendo online subscription. To add to the city tour criticisms, their location selections aren't that great. Literally half of the cities are from Europe whereas Africa and Latin America got nothing, and the U.S. did not need two tracks. And I'm sorry, but Amsterdam, Berlin, and Madrid I don't think are important or recognizable enough to warrant making a track around them, or at least not when there are so few city tracks to begin with. Also, why did they have to all be in cities? I think driving in the Australian Outback than in Sydney, or in a little Alpine village instead of Berlin would have been more memorable. Even if they insisted on sticking with cities, I feel like there were more interesting options (like Barcelona instead of Madrid). Oh, and according to my uncle who works at Nintendo, Wario was from the East side of the Wall but wafted his way over it.
I actually have always loved Mario Kart Tour since first playing it in summer of 2020. Though, I do have some complaints still, like the fact it takes forever to grind for a good score with lots of good frenzies, and the bots are very aggressive, and the fact that sometimes I wasn't lucky with the pipes (though I was lucky on quite a few occasions - like with getting Kamek and King Mario in the first pull I did, for example). I had spent some money on the game (mostly gold pass and some premium challenges/special offers), but not a ton, but now I'm not really spending money on the game since the Bowser tour this year. Might quit after the anniversary tour this year if the loop is the same as it was this year, which is kind of boring to me.
I played tour when it launched stopped at the Yoshi Easter Tour then came back with a Fresh account win the Miis got announced and have been playing since. I'm now playing in hopes to get every mii costume and every character and kart I think looks cool from a big list I compiled. Got a long way to go and I probably won't finish it, but I'm having fun for the most part and that's all that matters to me at this point
GIANT BANANA ENJOYERS RISE UP!!! Loved the incredibly nuanced (yet ultimately, and frankly, a truly correct) take on Tour as a game on its own and as a Mario Kart game. I only started playing it post-gacha pipe removal (the before times sound... horrible), so my experience is certainly more just-fine than most, but yeah, all of its flaws are glaring and threatening me and my wallet, lmfao. If there's perhaps a core concept (or two) from Tour that I wish would make it into the next mainline MK game, it HAS to be the track variations. They would likely never do 4 variations per track, so I'm at least pulling for Reverse variations to be the alternate mode, rather than Mirror mode. The latter is fine, but it just feels slightly off from the actual version of the track. With the Reverse version, it would at least feel like you're playing an (almost) completely new track with different lines, driving strategy, shortcuts, etc.
I love Mario Kart Tour. If you dismiss bc of the gacha stuff i dont blame you. I hate it to. But it has so much content, absurd amounts of content, and the point system is incredibly addicting and rewarding. Having a new tour every 2 weeks added a lot of excitement to it as well. Too bad theyre looping content now but ill keep playing it until it dies most likely. Love the video not many MKT videos out there and the ones that are are usually GAME IS GOOD or GACHA BAD. But i appreciate the long analysis of this game. The jokes were also very funny. Ive had so much fun with this game for 20-45 mins each morning. 10/10 game for me. Regarding competitve play, i use optimal loadouts for the ranked cups, but for every other track ill use my favorites, werll the ones that allow for 3 item boxes, but i have the luxury of basically having almost everything at an equal level, not every character, kart or glider, but the ones i do have are all mostly between level 6-8 so its not too much of a drop off point wise so i just kinda enjoy it. I do understand your point about the meta. Ive never really paid much attention to it and still perform very well using my favs.

I hate MTs. Id prefer they just make a traditional Mario Kart game for mobile with a full price tag. Real game - $59.99 dont charge extra. Micro transactions are the worst thing to ever come into the gaming world. Very disappointing to see Nintendo , of all companies go down this path.
I'm having fun with Mario Kart Tour, I have not and will not spend any money on it, and its definitely not necessary for enjoying the game. (also I just found out you can spend gems to get pipes, I feel dumb lol edit: oh I guess that's why)

As a day 1 player who was played every single tour and still playing, the one thing I will never forgive this game is the imbalance of alternate Costumes. As a Bowser fan, it's sad seeing Bowser only having 3 alts while Mario has 20+. Many characters don't have a single alt while others only have the lame gold alts. It got pretty lame and infuriating seeing Mario Luigi and Peach getting all the alts while Bowser, Jr, Wario, and Donkey Kong only got less than 5
Fr, there's a strong bias towards the Mario bros and Princesses (probably due to popularity and the princesses being fun to dress up because they are better looking i guess?). I'm assuming that humans are easier to design outfits for, but giving Bowser Jr and DK only one alt is just criminal, nor does it explain only giving Wario and Waluigi two alts each when they've been in at least twice as many games as Rosalina who has like 10 alts.
Mario Kart Tour feels like Free Updates that could've been for the next Mario Kart game😮From the new cars, mii suits, characters, THE COSTUMES, the exclusive items and even the track variations for a few years. So much potential that should have been put on the switch Appreciate the booster course pass but I hope that Mario Kart X carry over that stuff lost in the mobile void 🙏🙏

I wish you had covered just how out of sync the Gold Pass is with all other price options. For $5, if you buy in on the final day of a tour, you can get all of the gold pass rewards for 4 full tours. Each tour that means: 40 rubies, 3 high-end items (sometimes guaranteed, sometimes random), 4 high-end upgrade tickets, 15k or more in coins, something like 20 or so normal pipe pulls, a whole bunch of super-tier rank up tickets, and a few other goodies for good measure. Even if you only count those 160 rubies, that's $5 and playtime for 160. How the heck are any other bundles justifiable at any level?
For reference, the biggest standard pack is $70 for 170 rubies.
I'm completely blown away by how such a high quality video has so little views, even all the other parts put together have like 5k which is so incredibly disproportionate to the quality. It's both genuinely well written and informative and actually super funny, your videos deserve way more attention! the pipe

As someone who has played Mario Kart Tour from the very start, I’ve witnessed and been through a lot. From the good to the bad, I even took a break from the game and wrote it off as “eugh this sucks blahh!” for a time. This review is well thought out, with it pointing out valid criticism and flaws, but also appreciating the aspects that Mario Kart Tour ultimately provides. It may not be a game for everyone, but I will always appreciate Mario Kart Tour for what it provided, and will hold a somewhat special place in my heart… even through the pain. I guess.

Criminally underrated channel
I also regularly played this game for 4 years f2p, and actually a 5th year. After the new content ended, it felt like the game has been in a state of new game+ with a unique experience going for the max tier and knowing actually what tracks ranked cups will have ahead of time, among other things.

Mario kart tour is such a weird game, it looks like mario kart but it dosen’t feel like it.
I actually played the game for the first year and a half but stopped cause it got bored and too money hungry. I only went back when they announced the booster course pass. I have been having fun but it comes with a lot of frustration especially when they release tracks that suck to keep combos. Also the reason you haven’t reached S ranked is because it’s locked to the subscription. In the end, my opinion of this game is:

I remember last September going all out on Mario Kart Tour for it's last "official" tour (my wallet hated me but I did budget for it). I genuinely loved it! I've always been a fan of it, even though it was pretty rough during the beginning, I couldn't help but enjoy it. The battle minigames were the only reason I went online, especially when I could uh.. *cough* farm event tokens.. 😅
I hope they'll do something a little special for the 5th anniversary tour, to make it as fun as the 4th one was, but until then, I don't think I'm going to be playing it much. It was a "fun while it lasted" situation, but like other people, I think my focus will be on Mario Kart 8. Anywho, great video man! Loved listening to it and learning more about stuff relating to a hidden gem! 👍
A lot of the tactics Tour's gacha employed (yeah past tense is warranted) are standard tricks for gacha games. Uneven packs, adding "bonuses" to make it seem like you're getting a good deal, making it so the exact price of an item is difficult to grasp to hide the actual price you're spending, limited items to induce FOMO. From how you described it, it's clear you haven't played any other gacha game.
Great job, keep it that way! Stay away from them! Sincerely, someone who's currently playing 4 other gacha games. (I never played Tour though). Those games can have absolutely brilliant story telling, music and gameplay, but the gacha will always eat away at your sanity.

Going on a bit of a rant but in all honesty, in the context of other gachas, MKT was one of the most generous out there in terms of pulling for highend/ur stuff. A lot of other games out there require 180-200 to guarantee a featured 5 star character, and then on top of that, theres an entirely separate gacha to pull from to get secondary items (weapons, gear, cards, etc.). And there's even some games out there with no guarantee after x pulls, meaning it can be an infinite drain on your in game currency. Meanwhile in MKT it was only 100 pulls, with a 10% discount for multis, and the featured kart *and* glider were included. And then it got even better once they took out the gacha pipes since you now need only 150(?) rubies to guarantee a HE character instead of triple that amount. Add in the free high ends they give out frequently now and you can get going pretty quick. It's also extremely easy to save up rubies in this game. It's been a while since i played but I believe you can get around 50 rubies a tour without GP or ranked mode. So saying if you got second both weeks of ranked, you grab 35(?) x 2 = 70 rubies additionally, now in two weeks you got 120 rubies. As long as you aren't foolishly spending rubies every tour you can easily build up a nest egg once you get going on a solid roster. This game was pretty nice but once I homebrewed my Wii and started playing mkwii on wiimmfi I pretty much cut this game cold turkey. The ability to mod these cool costumes in for free in one of the best MKs made was just to good.
25:31 your ranked opponents are unique to you, so they won't be competing against you. Therefore you don't need to try and trick them at the last minute.
However you may want to wait until you see the other score to see how hard to push/invest. Also the community generally believes that if you over-cook your score (win by too higher margin) you'll have tougher opponents in the future
I played this game at launch. I thought it was fine, but it ended up being one of the few f2p games i dropped very early on, so clearly there were issues. I'd say it was worse than Fire Emblem Heroes at launch.
I picked the game back up when I got a new phone on a tight budget. It's when one of the VS tours happened too, but I don't remember which one exactly. But then not so long after that, the game stopped being compatible with my phone.
I finally picked MKT back up pretty much around the start of its 4th year when the Ruby pipes were removed, and stuck around up until the final tour.
I enjoyed the game for what it was. It finally got me playing almost daily. Had no problems getting some of the high end characters I wanted too. I did have fun with the game, but it was definitely a bumpy ride with a lot of issues.
I love long video essays about topics i’m not familiar with. Needed a video like this during a stressful day and i found it very good and high quality. Good job !!

Something Id like to note about the tanooki powerup, if you do a mini turbo and then use the tanooki, then you will remain in the speed the mini turbo gave you while the tanooki carries you, meaning you can get a big burst of speed
I really like Mario Kart Tour and play it super casually, and I think the best way to think of it is as a roguelite. Different characters have different advantages at different times, and because of that you can't use your favorite strategy/set all the time. You won't have access to everything. You're just trying to have fun with what you get, not perfectly optimize.
About the Booster Course Pass, what I followed was that the vast majority of the datamine is accurate but I predicted that Maple Treeway is moved a year early due to another Wii track making its way into the picture and I predicted Moonview Highway as I thought that Nintendo wouldn’t think that Mushroom Bridge belonged in the second half of the BCP. When Wave 5 announcement dropped, some people thought that Moonview Highway replaced Wii Rainbow Road, but most people following the datamine believes that Wii Rainbow Road made way too much sense to be excluded and thought that Moonview either replaced a GCN track or was the “canceled nitro/placeholder” track. When it was discovered that Moonview was the canceled nitro/placeholder, I thought that Dry Dry Ruins was going to get in because I thought that the reason why Nintendo moved Moonview ahead was due to another Wii track coming into the picture too with Daisy Circuit being my second guess as it seems that Nintendo I aware that Wii is seen as the favorite by the community. Ice World replacing Pipeline threw off everyone including myself, I don’t know what Nintendo was thinking as Ice World is not even a good track. Dry Dry Ruins is my second favorite track in the series only beaten by Koopa Cape so I was disappointed when Daisy Circuit was announced, but after thinking about it, it might be for the better as Dry Dry Ruins is now more likely to be in the base game of the next Mario Kart game where Nintendo would actually put effort in unlike with the majority of the Booster Course Pass.

6:08 - 6:25 If you'd like to, here's a theory of mine to explain it: As depicted in the 2023 movie, the real world and the Mario world (which I'll call Mushroom world for convenience) are in separate universes connected by interdimensional warp pipes, and there being a high chance that Mario, Luigi and Peach are far from the first people from either world to cross into the other, it's also possible that people from our world influenced cultures from the Mushroom world and vice versa across several centuries by the rare times someone from either world found an interdimensional pipe and crossed it, which lead to many places across both worlds paralleling each other like New Donk City and New York, or Sand Kingdom and Mexico.

15:50 it’s not actually that brutal. most of the games i’ve played within the past year dont even guarantee the banner character in 100 pulls. for example, one of them only has a pity system on permanent banners, where you’ll get a banner character at 200 pulls. if it’s a limited banner or you dont get the card you want, you have to then force them to “come home” (term for getting what u want). another game guarantees an epic (rarest) at 100 pulls, but it doesnt guarantee the banner card. the fact that you’re only doing 100 at worst for the spotlight driver isn’t bad compared to other gachas. tbh everything about the gacha system sounds standard compared to other gacha games :/
edit: this is excluding the shop. what is that. what. thats off putting to ME. and ive spent money on one of the games i mentioned 😭😭

I really hope that the next console Mario Kart will carry over Tour's new karts and character costumes (I think they could work as a fun unlockable, like completing a certain challenge with a certain character). It'd be a shame to see all the effort put into designing them and creating unique animations for them go to waste. It'd also be cool if some variation of the versus tours came back for those with a Nintendo online subscription.
To add to the city tour criticisms, their location selections aren't that great. Literally half of the cities are from Europe whereas Africa and Latin America got nothing, and the U.S. did not need two tracks. And I'm sorry, but Amsterdam, Berlin, and Madrid I don't think are important or recognizable enough to warrant making a track around them, or at least not when there are so few city tracks to begin with. Also, why did they have to all be in cities? I think driving in the Australian Outback than in Sydney, or in a little Alpine village instead of Berlin would have been more memorable. Even if they insisted on sticking with cities, I feel like there were more interesting options (like Barcelona instead of Madrid).
Oh, and according to my uncle who works at Nintendo, Wario was from the East side of the Wall but wafted his way over it.

I actually have always loved Mario Kart Tour since first playing it in summer of 2020. Though, I do have some complaints still, like the fact it takes forever to grind for a good score with lots of good frenzies, and the bots are very aggressive, and the fact that sometimes I wasn't lucky with the pipes (though I was lucky on quite a few occasions - like with getting Kamek and King Mario in the first pull I did, for example). I had spent some money on the game (mostly gold pass and some premium challenges/special offers), but not a ton, but now I'm not really spending money on the game since the Bowser tour this year. Might quit after the anniversary tour this year if the loop is the same as it was this year, which is kind of boring to me.
I played tour when it launched stopped at the Yoshi Easter Tour then came back with a Fresh account win the Miis got announced and have been playing since. I'm now playing in hopes to get every mii costume and every character and kart I think looks cool from a big list I compiled. Got a long way to go and I probably won't finish it, but I'm having fun for the most part and that's all that matters to me at this point

GIANT BANANA ENJOYERS RISE UP!!! Loved the incredibly nuanced (yet ultimately, and frankly, a truly correct) take on Tour as a game on its own and as a Mario Kart game. I only started playing it post-gacha pipe removal (the before times sound... horrible), so my experience is certainly more just-fine than most, but yeah, all of its flaws are glaring and threatening me and my wallet, lmfao.
If there's perhaps a core concept (or two) from Tour that I wish would make it into the next mainline MK game, it HAS to be the track variations. They would likely never do 4 variations per track, so I'm at least pulling for Reverse variations to be the alternate mode, rather than Mirror mode. The latter is fine, but it just feels slightly off from the actual version of the track. With the Reverse version, it would at least feel like you're playing an (almost) completely new track with different lines, driving strategy, shortcuts, etc.
I love Mario Kart Tour. If you dismiss bc of the gacha stuff i dont blame you. I hate it to. But it has so much content, absurd amounts of content, and the point system is incredibly addicting and rewarding. Having a new tour every 2 weeks added a lot of excitement to it as well. Too bad theyre looping content now but ill keep playing it until it dies most likely. Love the video not many MKT videos out there and the ones that are are usually GAME IS GOOD or GACHA BAD. But i appreciate the long analysis of this game. The jokes were also very funny. Ive had so much fun with this game for 20-45 mins each morning. 10/10 game for me. Regarding competitve play, i use optimal loadouts for the ranked cups, but for every other track ill use my favorites, werll the ones that allow for 3 item boxes, but i have the luxury of basically having almost everything at an equal level, not every character, kart or glider, but the ones i do have are all mostly between level 6-8 so its not too much of a drop off point wise so i just kinda enjoy it. I do understand your point about the meta. Ive never really paid much attention to it and still perform very well using my favs.

I hate MTs. Id prefer they just make a traditional Mario Kart game for mobile with a full price tag. Real game - $59.99 dont charge extra. Micro transactions are the worst thing to ever come into the gaming world. Very disappointing to see Nintendo , of all companies go down this path.
