That looks promising so far. Love the pen support and it's nice to see laptops finally going back to full size SD readers, although that's typical now I've moved on to CF Express A in my cameras... Ergh. I love my Acer 16" laptop with a 4k OLED, which is only 1.13Kg, but the build is rough and the heat / noise is bad, so crossing my fingers on this one. Looking forward to your full review!

Im using ryzen 7700, b650 board, nvidia gpu running Arch extra-testing repositories because the new interesting KDE/nvidia updates. Works like a charm. Im running windows in a qemu vm. If i was buying laptop now i would buy AMD x86-64. Probablly something like this zenbook. I might want cheaper model without touchscreen,

Thanks a lot!! After about 3 days of research for a new laptop, I was set on buying the S13-UX3405. However, last night, I realised the screen is even 3 inches smaller than my current laptop. Although using a second (TV) monitor most of the time, I also realised the S13 keyboard is much smaller. There is a lot of other plus points on this model to the one I (almost) purchased, but not everyone here will be interested in the comparison. I do appreciate your review. I'm quite convinced this is the one I will be buying...!

I very much preferred the old minimal cover design with only a stylized A that reminded of a Star Trek communicator. These lines are simply unattractive, which is a shame considering this nice chassis.
As my main need is audio production I would have loved to have speakers on the sides like a Macbook does. Sticking a speaker next to the screen just guarantees bad audio quality.

It does support that new AI thing on Windows. In fact, this chip has a little more AI power than the Qualcomm elite. This one has 50 tops of AI compared to Qualcomm elite which has 45 tops of AI performance.
It does. It needs PCIE tunneling over USB4 to be able to do that. Microsoft requires devices shipping with Windows and USB4 ports to have PCIE tunneling for Thunderbolt compatibility.

But 2099,00 Euros what is expected in Germany is a lot of money and it comes from Asus which do not have the best reputation when it comes to after sales support..... so in germany, might be better in other countries ?!? ASUS has been kicking ass with great laptops in the past few years. Lenovo and ASUS. The only two brands making solid laptops for years now. The ZenBook line-up, ROG Lineup [especially Zephyrus G14s], Scar Strix Lineups have all been phenomenal As has been Lenovo's Slim Yoga 7is and 9i's, not to mention how the Legion is a beast in itself.

If the Apps that you're gonna use have an ARM Version available, then you'll be good to go with the SnapDragons. But if they're not, and still run on the x86 Architecture, then there's a 50/50 chance that either they'll run in Emulation [Prism does that], or they won't work at all. In the latter case, you might wanna look at the latest Ryzen SoCs.

Definitely interested in this, but 32 gigs of ram in 2024 is base configuration I'll need at least 64 gigs unless the ram is upgradable, damn my 7-year-old 600 2-in-1 has 32 gigs of RAM, if we want this laptop relevant for more than a few years it needs to be either upgradeable or 64 gig available
If you don't plan on using it for engineering nor college financial courses, you should be fine for all other college/university majors. It just isn't built for most financial software nor engineering software at certain universities/colleges. There are a lot of medical students who use the MacBook Air, 13-inch & 15-inch, for classes. Medical, psychology, law, history, sociology, photography, or arts majors should all be fine with the M2 Air.

I wouldn't get a laptop at the moment with the Snapdragon Elite laptops just around the corner. Those won't be for everyone but best to wait to see what they're like.

Is that Gorilla Glass Armor same tech as on the S24 Ultra? The anti reflection on it is a real game changer.. almost like a matte but with glossy's sharpness and contrast.

I think beyond the battery life of a MacBook, the touchpad is very important to me because I always use my laptops without a mouse because I'm always carrying it around and don't always have a desk to set it on. The MacBook touchpad is fantastic because it is haptic. These touchpads with a diving board design usually feel horrible to use in comparison and make the unit an instant return for me.
Battery life gonna be the make or break for me with this probably. Also not sure if I really want a laptop from Asus.... Had a situation with a motherboard recently and well.... yea.

@@ohad4790 Yeah, not much point in the pen. Although, I rarely use the pens with my Surface Book 2 and my Samsung S24 Ultra as I'm not an artist and prefer to markup PDF's with a keyboard. This laptop is now on my shortlist, although I am really interested in a 16" Qualcomm X Elite based laptop (which would have a much better battery life e.g. ~20 hours vs AMD ~10 hours - both very rough figures, but the right ballpark). I might get a thin laptop for 95% use and an external (Thunderbolt) graphics card for gaming and video editing, which I would do at my desk (with a Samsung Neo G9 27" monitor)...

DIsappointed they didn't integrate the digital num pad on the trackpad that they have on some cheaper models, that is VERY practical

I have the asus zenbook s14 which is essentially the same and it works just fine under linux (I'm using Fedora)

A iGPU with 40CUs would be a game changer.
A 130 watt chip Is definitely possible in a thin PC. Having some Nvidia GPUs running 120 alone on notebook, means there's no thermal limits here

The problem with this zenbook is it overheats. Otherwise it’s fantastic device with great battery

I can say that It's so far, the best-looking laptop this year, 2024. I mean it that It's better than MacBook and all Asus Laptops as well.
Can you try some ML benchmarking tools like MLPerf? it would be nice to see how fast this new AI chip at multiply-accumulate operations.

My Asus 14, Oled have dead pixel issue after 12.5 months, luckily I got 2 years warranty, my M1 got no issue even already 2 years.
