  • Wondering why your pictures are so green under the trees? White balance!
How can you make your portrait pictures in the snow look less dead and zombie-ish? White balance!
White balance is one the most fundamental tools in photo editing, and in this short video I will show you how to nail your white balance using darktable, a free and open-source photo editing software.

According to Darktable documentation, you shouldn't mess up with the white balance module. If you need to correct the white balance you should use the color calibration module (assuming you're working in a scene referred workflow-which is the recommended one). So, you're giving the wrong information here.
    From the Darktable manual:
"Most processing software uses a traditional temperature/tint model for adjusting the white balance of an image. In darktable, the color calibration module provides a much more robust and flexible approach, allowing you to explicitly define the color of the light source. This is particularly useful for scenes illuminated by artificial lighting.
Please note that the white balance module is still enabled in this approach, but its settings normally should not be altered."

Your videos and explanations are excellent but I encourage you to see the changes in this latest version of darktable 4.2 where many things have changed and fundamentally in the reconstruction of highlights and tone maps with the new Sigmoid module.
To do a correct white calibration on the image it is best to use the CAT color calibration module in conjunction with the white balance module as explained above. Greetings.

Thanks for pointing me to this. I've been working with the color calibration module and contemplating creating a new "darktable 101" video, and including the CC module
