    @cutlerylover  14 лет назад

    @kavieres you will find I no longer have most of the stuff in this video, it was traded for a william henry knife then the knifew was traded for a 357 magnum....then traded again for a glock 36 45acp...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    thats great! Yeah the pipe insert does work well to get the flame to go through the shimeny for lighting a pipe...not just for show, it works...

    nice, I am about 5 hours out, I went there though for a weekend with the family to check out their case/zippo visitors center...very cool!

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    I bought that one at full list price of like $25 directly from Zippo...I went to the zippo/case visitors center in Bradford once for vacation and they have w big store there, where I got this one as well as otjers, I dotn see that one though anymore, must have been a small run of them, but I love the heavy texture it has, I no longer have it though, I had traded most of ym collection for a knife..

    I see them pop up from tiem to time, but not too often...Average price for one will be @ $10 plus shipping...But beign that they are collectible now they might fetch a bit more...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    yes I have a few in my zippo lookalike colection, lol they even have simuilar packaging, they obviosuly mimick the zippo brand but they are probably the best lighter next to a zippo for this design...

    Hi Jeff, I bought my first zippo the other day at a mini mart and absolutely love it, love the look and the authenticity of it. I want to buy more and see that I can buy them on sites such as amazon for cheap. I watched your videos on counterfeits but it is hard to tell with a limited amount of pictures. Are there any tips on who I should buy from or what exactly I should look for? I cant see the bottoms so anything on hinges?

    ilovehow much effort you put into your collections

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    make sure you have flint left, once it is gone the wheel tends to bit down into the spacer piece...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    I guess your talking about a butane lighter where you use butane fuel...to fill any butane lighter turn the lighter upside down, and you want to push down and hgold the bottle in towards the lighter until you do not hear it fillign anymore...instead of pumping it you just keep preassure down until its filled...you will know when its filled up by it being heavier if you can figure it out by hearing it...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Smoke shops carry them as well as mnay jewlery places believe it or not...also by the jewlery at your local walmart!

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  14 лет назад

    @BrainSalad212 sorry most zippos seen here including the wine model were already traded and or sold

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Yeah, lighter fluid will evaporate in a zippo because its not air tight, so if you sue it it will run out, even if you don't...If you dotn use it too often you cna use a piece of rubber tubing like from a inner bike tube to seal off where the lid meets the bottom so the fuel won't evaporate on you, but its a pan to get on and off...thats only a good trick if your storing a filled zippo for a while...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    No problem at all...Any lighter fluid will work in a genuine Zippo, guys in the army use to dunk their Zippos in the gas tanks on their vehicles, lol, a Zippo will work on many different fuels, but some will work better and be safer than others, but all ligher fluid will wrk fine...And yes I know a bit about butane lighters as well, what do you want to know? Send me a message I wil try to help answer your question...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Yes your right the pot leaf ones are not genuyine but way back in the 70's Zipo had one model with a pot leaf on it VERY rare, they mad eit thinkign it was justa design but after realizing what it was stopped makign them...VERY hard to find and woudl fetch alot of money, haha...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    I traded off most of my collection...I use to own a titanium zippo that goes for $75-$100 these days...I had a few collectible ones in the past as well, vintage models..but not anymore...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    yes its very shiny and reflective shows fingerpirnts just as well as the regular chrome zippos...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 лет назад

    yes, thats common, zippo used parts that are new from previous months if they had left overs...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  14 лет назад

    @grantodamax haha just a vintage insert aking up the spot until a zipo can take its palce is all...but most fo this collectiion has been traded for a knife then traded again for a gun...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  14 лет назад

    @zachchristiansen this entire collection is onyl worth about $600, and was accumilated over 7-7 years, most of it was traded after this video for a $700 knife then traded for a gun

    when I was a small kid, i stumbled across an old zippo, under the bed of a cheap seaside hotel. I really loved it, it was worn down with some brass showing, the top had a dent in it, and it had an american eagle and flag engraved. Even after a decade or so i still vividly remember it, it had character. Seeing your videos makes me want another one, since now I realized I miss my old lighter, and also made me realized that I had a pretty old one too, since it had dots on the bottom. Miss u zippo!

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    the simple plain ones cost $45 and they go all the way up to about $70 for other models...Its a Zippo brand butane lighter...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Yes, many collector try to stick with a theme (even though I do not, lol) for example, some people just try to only colect beer advertisement Zippos, or others only collect vintage Zippos, some like to only collect Chrme finished Zippos, and so forth...Some only collect Zippos from their birth year, lol...Just have fun with it!!!!

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  14 лет назад

    well the 099 stanbds for 2009, so if you have a number ot the right there ya go, if its not a number but instead markings google zippo date chart for more info...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Yeah, thats one of the reaons I like collecting anything, just something to pass along someday...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Well they are amde here in the US so they will b cheapest here, when you export anythgin you end up payign more for it to cover shippign costs, but there is also inmflation, I have heard in some countries a plain $10 stain model we cna get here costs the equivilant of $40 US there, which just stinks...your best bet for buyign zippos is ebay, just make sure the seller will ship to you before you bid...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    SUre, the zippo will come with a new wick, lol, and what you cna do is when it burns out (takes a while) you just pull it up a bit and snip off the burnt part, the wick is like 4" long inside the body...As for flints a pack of 5 will last at least a year of regular use, it costs like $180 for the real zippo brand flints...You will need about 2 or 3 small bottles of fluid to last about a year...But any lighter fluid will work fine, you dotn need zippo, ronson works fine and is half the price...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  15 лет назад

    I never said it was, lol, I just know for a fact that both came from the saem company because I boguht them both from the same palce and they are both marked the same on the bottom, thats all, I wasnt trying to ay the design means its the same...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Well If I buy them online new I get them from eknifeworks...I usually get a Zippo along with knife stuff...They are a licensed dealer...

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    Actually I no lomnger have the armnor one, its just a rtegular case but its literally twice as thick the metal....I already have a video on jumbo zippos where I show both the 41 and 37 replicas closer....And yes in this video I do mix up the replicas, the 37 is the more squeared off one, my favorite Zippo model!!!! I really want a 1933 replica with the outside hinge, but they sell for over $100 when they pop up on ebay, ahha...

    hey jeff, great videos. keep it up. i have a question about the armord case zippo. If the side walls, are twice as thick, does that mean the insert is half the size or is the zippo twice a thick. I guess what i am saying is, if i were to buy a armord case zippo, could i put a regular zippo insert. I know i would would never actualy do that, just wondering. please respond Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    No, but I like them, They just recently came out within a few motnhs ago, and I have not purchased a new zippo item in about a year, I use most of ym money on knives these dyas, and bills, I accumilated most of ym zippo stuff when I was a teen...But the butane ones look very nice, a bit pricey though at $50 on average...but I am sure worth it!

    @cutlerylover when you say unused? Do you mean as in you've never lit it or opened the cap or do you mean you just flip open the top but have never lit the lighter itself.
    If the answer is any of those, how do you have the control. I would light any brand new Zippo I ever owned. TEACH ME YOUR WAYS

  • @cutlerylover
    @cutlerylover  16 лет назад

    shorties were just plain smaller so lighter weight and easier to carry, not that a full size zippo is big or anythgin, lol as for armor zippos, no...the arnmor oens are much thicker the case, but not bullet proof by any means...

    I think in the US, you have to be 18 to buy all tobacco products, which lighters fall under, but I never had a problem buying lighters in stores and I was as yougn as 13...But if you walk into a smoke shop you HAVE to be of legal age to smoke to even go in, so whatever that is where you live...And smoke shops is usually where your goign to fidn a rack of Zippos, but for throw away lighters bought at a grocery store, I don't think it matters...

    Yeah I know the one is a 1941 replica, but the other was from another date, which I could not remember during the video, lol, so I guestimated...Its cool how you have a vietnam Zippo, there is a GREAT book on vietnam zippos and their vakluses and what to check for to make sure yours is real...the title is "The vietnam zippo - 1933-1975 by: Jim Fiorella) A must have for any serios collector...

    The 1941 replica with the devils head is actually a 1937 replica. The 1941 has a 4 barrel hinge and 14 holes in the chimney and a see through rivet holding the flint wheel in place. The 1937 replica was actually a poor attempt by zippo at replicating the 1937, as I owned an original and compared them. A tru 1937s top is actually slightly rounded where the replica is an un stamped bottom cut to fit as a lid. I've been collecting and appraising for over 25 years. Nice to find a fellow collector!!
